Don't pay Roof Roofing in full until the job is done in full, including final inspection.
I really expected to be submitting a 4 or 5 star review for Roof Roofing. They were efficient, quick, and pretty good on the cleanup. The roof looks good and no issues so far even through the heavy rains this year.
But then out of the blue I get a notice from the city that the final inspection has never been done, and I have 10 days to complete the process or get an extension, or have my building red tagged. Kind of surprising and more than a little concerning. I contacted Roof Roofing but they do not answer their phone these days, nor do they respond to voicemails. So I trotted down to the Permit Dept and got an extension. Then I continued to try to contact Roof Roofing. Amber actually answered the phone one time. When I explained the situation she said ""Oh yeah I remember your message I'll give it to Hank again.""
Again, nothing happens, no call from Roof Roofing, and again their phone does not get answered.
So I trot on down to the Permit Dept and am told I can only schedule the inspection by phone or online. I'm a homeowner, not a contractor. This is all new to me.
So, anyway, after an additional trip to the Permit Dept to figure out which code I need to input, two attempts to schedule online, one more call to the Permit Dept and then two calls to the automated system I get it scheduled.
I paid for this service and I did not get it. It has taken hours of my time on phone calls, online, and going to the Permit Dept.
Bottom line: I'm happy with the roof, not happy with having to complete the job myself.
I would not use them again.
Lucrecia M.Luckily we had our roof done way before the rain started. We weren't among those who experienced leaks before realizing they needed a new roof.
We chose a color we thought would look good with the color of the house. The main roofer guy suggested a different color. We were skeptical but figured he knows best based on their experience.
Everything went smooth from the tear off of the old roof to the placing of the new roof and they even added sky lights. What a big difference with the natural lighting coming in.
The color of the roof was perfect so we are glad we followed his suggestion.
We are very pleased with the outcome and despite all the rain we have not had any leaks or problems.
We have highly recommended them to family and friends with roofing needs. Unfortunately they are so busy some friends have had to wait. That's how good they are I guess.
Don't wait for leaks to fix it be proactive.

Awful experience. We were experiencing leaks - they cleaned the room and sprayed a sealent over the roof. Nice guys, worked promptly, cleaned up their mess - all seemed good. Until the rains. As soon as the rains began we started to have more leaks. They came back multiple times - and we still have water leaking in the kitchen, in bedrooms - it is worse them before they came.
Find someone else.
I own a retail building in Los Gatos. Hank is the best. My roof has been leaking for the last four years. I've had several people in to ""fix"" the leaks and many thousands of dollars later, I got ahold of Hank. He completely re-coated the existing roof and it was so much less expensive than the other bids I got from people who promised to do the exact same work. He guarantees the job for years,. The best part of this is that he means it. He'll come out and take care of anything. He's an honest and hardworking guy with a great personality and an even greater work ethic. He is there when he says he will be. I've paid for so much shoddy work from people who talk a great story but don't deliver. Hank is the real deal.
No kidding: If you have to fix or replace your roof, he is the best guy, period. He'll get it done cheaper and quicker and better.
This is an unsolicited rave review. I wish every company that's in the construction maintenance and repair industry was as good as Roof Roofing.
After the rain we discovered we had a couple of leaks. Emanuel did an thorough job inspecting our roof. He found around 40 broken tiles. Our roof tile is supposed to have a 50 year warranty and it was installed about 17 years ago. We called the tile company and they worked with Hank to get us new tiles. The tiles they provided did not exactly match the color of the tiles we already have. Emanuel did an wonderful job of removing tiles from the side of the house where the roof is not visible and used them to replaced the cracked tiles. He put the new tiles where no one can see them.
Ann R.This is the second home they have roofed. The first one is still going strong after 20 years. I called them to put a roof on our current home. Hank said 2 weeks they would be able to do it and gave me a reasonable bid. Sure enough to the day, they were out there working on my roof. They completed in 3 days, and charged me $2000 less as they did not need to replace some items they thought they would have. I am again very impressed with the quality and affordability of these guys! Thank you!
jp c.We had Hank and his team replace our roof. He was recommended to us by our neighbor and did a great job. I chatted with him a bit and offered to allow them to post an advertisement for a small fee reduction, but he gave me the fee reduction anyway - which then helped cover the cost of adding two SolarTubes in our house. We scheduled and they generally were there the time I expected. It all went quick and smoothly and when i noticed some of the rafters were in bad shape, I asked them if they could replace them when they were up there and they did. Their site manager guy said if I could go buy the rafters he'd just go and put it in. That's exactly what I did and he didn't even charge me for the labor (he was fast!).
I'm breathing a sigh of relief now that we have had all this rain - not a single issue or leak.
The only hiccup we had was that the house failed inspection because some of the wood trim we replaced needed to be painted, so I had to jump up and do that and then reschedule. It all worked out.
As a property manager, I expect prompt, professional and affordable service for my clients. Hank delivers on all counts. He has done work for both my home as well as my properties. Always on-time, responsive and the repairs are great. I will keep him at the ready for the next roof issue or gutter problem!
I am an existing customer of Hank and has referred him to others in the past. I will NEVER do that again.
During a home inspection in Aug 2011, I noticed dry rot near the edge of the roof (and water stains on the wall under the roof). After repeated calls, Hank sent one of his guys in Nov 2011 to see the problem. The genius tried hard to shake responsibility by blaming home settling (house has no cracks to show any settling), gutters being installed incorrectly (installed by Hank), and drain getting blocked (nearest tree is almost 50 feet away). Finally, in mid-Jan 2012, Hank personally came to see the problem but offered no resolution and no plan. I finally gave up and paid someone else to fix the problem on 5th Feb 2012.
During this entire period, I called 2 roofers and 2 carpenters to see the problem and ALL of them said the same thing - BAD WORKMANSHIP. And after working with Hank over the last 6 months, I can also add - BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Very bad experience. Hank was recommended by our real estate agent for the roof inspection. He didn't show up at the scheduled time for the inspection. Regardless, we hired him to change the roof and replace some of the rafters around the house because his quote was well below what any other company was charging. But we know why. We never knew the workers were there until we started seeing stuff fall on the patio, nobody bothered knocking on the door to tell us they were here. Not one of the workers spoke a word of english, which made it really hard to get an idea of what was going on. Around 5pm the first day, I was gonna go out and ask them how far along they were, only to find out they were gone, but all their tools were still here. They showed up again the following morning to finish up the roof. Once they were gone, turns out they didn't replace the rafters. Oh, no estimate or description of the work was ever signed, it was all over the phone. We called Hank and he said he'd be back the following day to replace the rafters. That was a week ago. He hasn't answered his phone nor returned our calls.
