Rollamatic Roofs
Company Overview
We proudly stand as the first designers and makers of controlled opening skylights. Our offerings have been chosen for numerous homes and commercial projects across the Bay Area and globally.
Rollamatic is preferred for its stunning and practical design features in custom homes, renovations of residential spaces, upgrades to existing commercial buildings, and new constructions.
Operable skylights can enhance indoor air quality, reduce energy consumption, amplify natural lighting, expand usable space, increase property worth and appeal, and can be designed to meet virtually any specifications.
Homeowners, contractors, and architects enjoy these specific advantages from Rollamatic:
Support from local engineering, manufacturing, and management
Timely design and engineering specifications when you need them
An extensive range of skylight framing and glazing options
Testing in the factory and pre-assembly
Personalized service for your individual project specifications
Rollamatic originated from a request made by the purchasers of a custom-built home. Upon installation, the original Rollamatic was met with enthusiastic acclaim from its new owners and their guests. Subsequently, Rollamatic Roofs were integrated into speculative home designs, resulting in quicker sales and higher prices for homes with retractable skylights compared to traditional homes.
From the start, Rollamatic Roofs has installed thousands of operable roofs and skylights in the Bay Area, across the state, and globally—many with features like rain sensors and remote controls. Our offerings have been refined to excellence and provide an exciting, functional addition to any residential or commercial space.

I did not purchase a system, but I researched doing so and have now seen more than one in service. I am enamored with the concept of having an area where I could expose it to the or close it off to the outside, while still ""seeing"" it. The control may be tied into an automation system and/or be locally controlled. One of the ones I have seen was maybe 15 years old and still functioning very well - some sealing components needed replacing due to what the sun does to seals over time. One day, I hope to be able to post because I have one!

Our company recently utilized the services of Rollamatic Roofs to install a retracting roof for a large remodel residential project in Saratoga. We were extremely pleased with the timeliness and high quality of work. The staff and crew are a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process and our clients are absolutely ecstatic with the results. It's a real show stopper!

I recently had a 8' x 16' Rollamatic Roof installed on my newly constructed South Park building...If I could, I would give these guys six stars. The retractable roof has performed absolutely flawlessly and pretty much mesmerized all of my visitors.
Creating an open air room at the flip of a switch is cool in and of itself, but in my particular case, the ability to open and close the roof has proven extremely valuable by reducing my overall heating/cooling costs. I can now passively heat the building with the glass roof closed (greenhouse effect) or quickly cool the place by opening the roof.
Doug and Mitch have been a pleasure to work with before, during, and (probably most importantly) after installation of the roof. This really is a great local San Francisco company and I expect that Rollamatic Roofs will grow in popularity as word of their unique roll-away roofs/skylights winds its way through the design community.
