Company Overview

Alongside roofing, we focus on custom restoration and renovation of both inside and exterior spaces. Founded in 1996, we have been dedicated to serving the Atlanta area. I am Keith Roberts, the owner of Roberts Roofing for two decades. Growing up in the 80s in Grant Park and adjacent neighborhoods, I would ride my bike past countless job sites and construction areas. I would stop and watch, how crews could transform something worn down into a beautiful creation. As a teenager, I began my journey in home restoration as a brick mason. The idea of turning something common into a work of art with my own efforts and imagination resonated with me. I launched my roofing and restoration business in my early 20s. I am always eager to collaborate with new clients, assisting them in restoring their homes and taking on challenging projects.

I had my gutters and downspouts done back in 2012, with gutter guards as well. They showed up and did the whole job in one day. No problem. The gutter guards are supposed to keep the leaves and junk out of the gutters. Not so much!
It's 2015 and I have two issues:
1) It looks like water can get under the gutter guards and into or onto the decking/sheathing and potentially rot it (aka water damage).
2) 2) My gutters are clogged and overflowing.
I emailed Robert's Roofing on 10/18/2015 about issue #1 with pictures included and got no response. On 10/26/15 I emailed them again about issue #2 and included a video of the overflowing gutters. I got a response that same day asking for my address. I provided it, that same day but RR never came to my home.
It's 11/08/15 and I had to get out my ladder and unclog the gutters myself.
The gutters are still full of debris (can't get it out) but I was able to stick a flexible stick down the downspout to at least get some of the water and debris flowing out of the gutters and into the downspouts.
Roberts Roofing hasn't done anything about either issue. So hire them at your own risk.
I spend $3,285 on the gutters, downspouts and gutter guards. I'm NOT happy!
Sorry, RR if you don't like this post, but I'm tired of being ignored!

Showed up on time, gave a reasonable estimate, did a good job, and were courteous. I was afraid to call a roofer because I was sure they were going to say it was time to replace the roof, but they were able to fix the leak for $250. Nice folks!

I was referred to Roberts Roofing by a friend who just has his roof done. Keith gave me an estimate on a metal roof and I decided to go for it since I have many trees that hang over my house. The work was phenomenal. In two days the metal roof was completely installed. I was so impressed I had Keith's team come out a month later and install new gutters to match the roof. His prices and very reasonable and his work was outstanding. Would highly recommend him.

Keith knows our north Decatur neighborhood like the back of his hand, simply because he and his company have been doing work here for years. That made us feel really good about choosing him to repair the leak in our roof and replace some shingles that had come off. Plus, his bid was significantly lower than the other company we spoke with. The work was completed within the week and we were very pleased with the result.

When a second leak appeared in another spot during a hard rain, Keith came out the next day and made the repair at no charge. Thanks again for the excellent customer service!

Let me start with this: I would hire Roberts Roofing again.
That's the best recommendation I can give anyone.

I really struggled with this 4-star rating. I would have given them 4.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't let you do that. So why not 5 stars? I'll get to that in a minute.

FIRST: I write long reviews because things that matter to me may not matter to you. I hope you'll read the whole thing, but if you don't, know this: Roberts Roofing is an excellent choice.

THE QUOTE
After finding Roberts Roofing here on Yelp, I asked Keith Roberts to come by and give me a quote for a new roof. We have a 3-story home with a pretty complicated roof (multiple levels and lots of different angles coming together). The builder of our home did a terrible job with our gutters and DISH Network had left some holes in our roof, so we also had some water damage in our soffets and trim.

We had already called two other companies for quotes and they didn't want to come out to the house. They used an online tool to estimate the roof area and quoted off of that. They also seemed bothered by my questions and were anxious to get off of the phone. Not surprisingly, they're estimates were very different and they wouldn't even talk about repair work until I chose them.

Keith came out and did some rough measurements, and then he did something very cool. This was the first roof we've ever bought, so we had LOTS of questions. Keith very patiently sat down with us and talked about all types of roofing. We also talked about growing up in Atlanta and found out we had a lot in common. It's called trust-building, and more customers and contractors should do this.

Keith gave us 3 options: Shingles, Good Metal, and Great Metal ranging from $8,500 to $11,500. The gutters and repair work were extra. One quote we got was significantly higher (more than 5k) and the other was a little lower ($200).

In the end, though, we chose Roberts Roofing because Keith took the time to understand what we needed and wanted.

Side Note: My first impression of Keith was a smiling salesman. But after spending the last week getting my roof done, I realize I was wrong. Keith is not a salesman. He's just genuinely happy and easy-going. He's also honest and trustful and he REALLY KNOWS ROOFING. I'm guessing that sometimes people take advantage of him because he is so easy-going. Don't be that guy.

THE MATERIALS
We got our quote in December, 2013. We called Keith in March of 2014 to set a time. We chose to go with a metal roof (awesome choice btw). So Keith and the crew came by to get precise measurements before placing the order. Keith offered to get the materials himself but I chose to put it on a credit card for the points.

THE ROOFING CREW
Keith's crew was fantastic.
- They are not the fastest, because they care about quality.
- They are not the best communicators, because their work speaks for them.
- They sometimes make mistakes and they fix them happily.
These are NOT negatives. These guys actually CARE about the quality of their work. They worked safely, took their time, and were diligent about getting things right the first time.

The roofing itself took 3 days to complete. I never asked how long it would take. That's on me. But this is one reason I didn't give 5 stars. Please understand: I did not care how long they took. It's just that I think it's important to help customers understand your process. After all, I don't do roofing for a living, so I have no clue what's involved. Keith was so great during the quote process, if he had just handed me a sheet of paper that explained the whole process, that would have made for a 5-star experience.

THE GUTTERS and REPAIRS
After 3 days of roofing, it was time to install the gutters and repair the water-damaged soffets (the wooden parts behind the gutters) and trim on the chimney and corners of the house. Keith uses a separate sub-contractor for the gutters, so while those guys did their work, the roofing crew was fixing woodwork. It took 2 days to get the gutters and the repairs done. Along the way the guys found some more wood that needed repairing,

PRO TIP: When you hire an expert to do a job, listen to your expert. In this case, I trusted Keith and his crew to find and repair woodwork. They found and repaired so much, it ate up a lot of their profits. Now I could have been a dick and stuck to the quote. But I did the right thing. I asked Keith for a fair increase to the quote. He gave me one and I agreed. Happily!

So here's the other part of that half-star I couldn't give Keith. The whole exchange between us about the repair work was a little awkward. If I had to guess, I would say Keith's customers don't like uncertainty in their quotes so he tries to cover any extra work within the original quote. My advice to Keith would be to come up with a better way to quote that allows some room for unexpected surprises. No contractor can know everything up front, And Keith should not be embarrassed about that.

I needed someone to address problems with attic moisture in my 90 yer old house. Keith came highly recommended by many people in the neighborhood, so after a couple quotes from roofers and handymen, I had Keith come in and take a look at it.
He has lots of experience with old homes like mine. The other contractors recommended partial and total roof replacement, but Keith gave me an ""Attic Ventilation 101"" primer and told me that a ridge vent would take care of the issue no problem. Given that my roof was less than 10 years old, I was relieved to see that it wasn't a bigger problem. Keith gave me a quote on the spot and said that he could probably get it taken care of the next day. All I had to do is say ""yes"" and the job was done before I got home from work the next day. Didn't even have to pay in advance. He fronted the supplies and I cut him a check the day after the was completed.
Great personal service!! Great work!!
I would not hesitate to use him again and recommend him to others.

The short: I would not contract with Keith and Roberts Roofing again.

I hope my experience is an anomaly, but our recent experience working with Keith was not favorable. In fairness, I think he would say that same about working with us.

We made the decision to go with Keith and Roberts Roofing after getting three quotes, primarily because he was the cheapest.

Before beginning the work, Keith estimated the job would take one day, but it ended up taking two. We were not upset that it took more time in part because we asked for more reinforcement to be put into the attic. I would only say that it didn't seem like the reinforcement got conveyed between Keith and his crew as his crew seemed surprised when I examined the attic and said there needed to be more.

The crew were exceptional--in fact I would give his crew a 5 star for their responsiveness and how friendly they were. Unfortunately, once we examined the roof once it was completed we were less than satisfied with the results. It did not appear to be laying flat in many parts of the roof. In the front of our house, we could see gaps between the roof line and our support beams--even for a novice like us, it did not look right. We asked a few others, including a different contractor, and they concurred that it did not seem right.

We met with Keith about the issues, and he seemed quite responsive. When we pressed him on the roof not laying flat, he said that with time (sun and warmer temperatures) the shingles would begin to lay flat.

I suggested that if it was just a matter of time, that I would feel more comfortable paying a little more than half now and the rest once the roof was behaving as expected. Keith said not even to worry about the money. We did not feel comfortable with that and thus paid a little more than half with the agreement we would pay the rest after the roof settled.

To his credit, Keith had the issues we had with the insulation being installed and one large gap taken care of within a week. However, after two weeks away on vacation, Keith began to express more urgency about the second payment.

I agreed to make the payment after he asked for it. I offered to send the check or have him come by and pick it up. He said he would pick it up, but got busy that day. I forgot to leave it out for him the next but said I would bring it by later that day or the next. At 8:40a the next morning I received the following text: ""Sir I want my money it's been long enough don't you think.""

As I wrote at the beginning, I would be surprised if Keith also said working with us was unfavorable. We hold our service providers to high expectations of quality and customer service. The roof did not meet our initial expectations, but hopefully there are no issues (Keith does not believe there will be any and admittedly he would know more than me).

However, it was the customer service that was most disconcerting. I never really felt like I could trust Keith as his responses seemed to dismissive of our concerns.

I had a great experience with Roberts Roofing - huge Poplar tree came down on my house, and I had to repair. My house is a 1963 original, which required custom materials, and Roberts was able to restore to original specifications. Roberts also went extra mile with entire new roof, new gutters, pressure wash, and repainting. Very nice job. Jeffrey

Keith is great to work with. I needed a new roof and some gutters added. The quality of work exceeded my expectations. The crew definitely paid attention to detail and cleaned up nicely. The final price was just as advertised in the estimate Keith gave with no surprises. I highly recommend this company!

Keith and Roberto have been FANTASTIC!!! We have had our roof for about 6-7 years and have had no problem until the recent rain. One estimator told me that we needed to replace the shingles in the area (costing several hundred dollars), another told me that we needed to replace the entire roof because it was installed wrong and looked about 12 years old (costing several thousand dollars). Roberto and Keith, on the other hand, saw several nail holes and a gap in the dormer and determined that a simple caulking job would fix the problem! I really appreciated the honesty, and I was saved from spending thousands of dollars on a roof replacement. It's a real shame that there are roofers who take advantage of the situation and customers --- particularly during rainy days and if the house is located in a nice neighborhood. Thank God that we still have honest people like Keith and Roberto from Roberts Roofing!
