My Roof was literally falling apart and in awful condition. It was so bad that some roofers refused to give quotes and some said that i need general contractor and roofer to fix the roof. Richard was very nice - explained me the work and said he would take care of everything in 1 cost. He did everything in 2 days over weekend with 8 guys working round the clock. Fantastic! I would recommend him to anyone who need his roof done.

Our roof was long overdue for replacement (already had two layers) so I decided to pull the trigger finally. Called 5 places in the Bay Area. Two couldn't even send someone out for a month to give an estimate. Three came out including Richard Kang from RK Roofing. All three estimates were in the same ballpark and were reasonable. I should mention that I called RK Roofing first because I saw them working on a roof on a neighbor's house nearby. I assumed they did their due diligence as well before hiring Richard. The other companies I got from Yelp. Overall, the cost and description of what needed to be done was pretty similar between the three companies so I decided to go with RK due to them having worked on other homes in my area and I liked Richard from the start.

As far as the work itself, they were able to start a few weeks after signing on the dotted line which was great as I have my new roof before the rainy season. They stripped the old roof and completed everything in 3 days. At the end of each day they did a very thorough job cleaning up all around my house which was great. We also had very strong winds and cold temps over all 3 days so they were troopers working up on the roof and cleaning up after. The crew went above and beyond also in two areas which need mentioning: 1) some new stucco needed painting and I happened to not have any house paint which matched so they went to the store and got some new paint to do the job and 2) they took down a very old monstrosity of an antenna from 1950 on my chimney. They did all that no problem at no extra charge which I greatly appreciated.

All I can say beyond that is I'm very satisfied with the work Richard and his crew at RK Roofing did on my new roof. I would definitely recommend them to any of my friends and neighbors. They have gotten a good amount of business just from neighbors seeing their trucks in front of other houses so I hope that confidence from others continues. I did my due diligence and I know I made the right decision.

I called Richard to get an estimate for a replacement of one of my gutters. Even though the job was very small, Richard was willing to come to my house to give me an estimate. He promptly came as he said he would early on a Saturday morning and after looking at the job, he recommended that we do the job ourselves and that we can get the parts at Home Depot. Another company gave us a bid of $140 via pictures and email I sent them and another contractor did not bother to return my call. I am giving Richard 5 stars because it's refreshing that he took the time to look at my small job and gave us a cost-saving, DIY solution.

I highly recommend RK Roofing. Richard Kang and his crew are all excellent to work with. From the initial bid to the last detail of clean-up everything happened with great communication, efficiency & within budget. The new roof is beautiful.

Our neighborhood maintains an active list-serve andI found RK when I learned another neighbor sought referrals to replace her roof. We decided to each gather several bids, compare notes and review in detail. We both decided to go with RK Roofers because the bids were competitive but contained greater communication around budget details. Richard was promptly available to answer questions and his referrals were responsive and positive. This neighbor's house is a block away and she scheduled work first so, before my work began, I went by to see her new roof. It looked great! I asked her if any surprises arose. She communicated extreme satisfaction with RK.

At my house, I checked with the neighbors on either side before, during and after the work because ladders had to be angled from along the property lines. There were no complaints. There were glowing remarks about the of the work and excellent clean-up, however. A few neighbors asked Richard about working for them.

I'm surprised to read a contrary remarks from someone who had an opportunity to speak with Richard, the home owner or another neighbor if there was something they truly desired. To date, I have gathered only the highest praise for RK Roofers.

Roofing work done about eight months ago, I'm very happy with the results. High quality work. The carpenter worked closely with me to resolve a structural issue & things were fixed quickly and efficiently. The work was considerable, but they finished it up in a quick five days. Lots of work when into the details such as clean up and aesthetics. Installation of several skylights, solar fans, & Vent stacks were affordable and I'm glad I did it at the time rather than having to go back later. Your welcome to take a look at the final product. 1048Central in Alameda. As an field engineer I know the work they do and how involved it is. The five days of work was disruptive to both my household and my neighbors, but considering it will last for thirty years those five days are nothing. When it comes time for my neighbors to get a new roof I can only hope they get a company as good as RKRoofing . This is high quality, efficient, hard working company.

I highly recommend RK roofing. I got multiple bids from my area, RK came in at the best price with all the necessary work rolled into one price. Other bids bids came in lower but had additional side costs. I really appreciated how RK made the whole roofing experience very easy. There was one item that was left over after construction was finished, I contacted Richard and he came and fixed it right away. I'm very happy with my new roof and the attentive service.

I have used Richard Kang (RK Roofing) exclusively for the last ten years. He put a new roof on a commercial building I own in Oakland (6400 sq. ft.) in 2002, including new plywood sheething. He then did a ""delicate"" gutter replacement on a 1926 home I used to own. Most recently, he replaced a roof on a small home I purchased in Castro Valley.

In each case, he has been timely, professional, and reasonably priced.

On the Castro Valley home, he stood on the roof supervising the work, and I watched him tutor the individual workers at various points in the job, to make sure every bit of work was to his standards. I don't imagine this can happen on every job, but it sure was nice.

A big plus is the timeliness when the job begins, and the typically large crew size he uses. This gets jobs done start-to-finish in a relatively short time.

As a licensed contractor myself (in an unrelated specialty), I very much appreciate Richard's capabilities.

Richard was a competent, friendly professional throughout the entire job on my Alameda home; from bid to finish. He stuck to his bid price (which was very competitive) and was quick to explain the work, the timeline, the process, and how all of that would be affected should I choose to go with skylights, extra vents, a spark arrester (which he agreed to install last minute with no fuss) or other bells and whistles.
Richard and his crew were respectful, prompt, and clean. They worked efficiently and still managed to leave things tidy at the end of the day. They completed the work ahead of schedule and the roof looks amazing. It has yet to see a wet winter, but has withstood a few downpours thus far with zero hiccups.
I would highly recommend RK Roofing to anyone looking to repair or replace their roof.

Richard Kang replaced a flat roof on part of my house that had sagged a bit over the years with occasional leaking. He gave me a couple of design options and came up with a drainage plan that avoided a potentially costly system to comply with local regs. He knows his stuff, doesn't waste time and was very reasonable. Highly recommend him!

Pre-work: Timely delivery of work estimate. An estimate whose terms, proposed materials, and price all beat those of one of the best-reputed roofing companies in Alameda. And constant communication in midwinter as we sought a dry-weather window during which he could re-roof our home.

During the work: Richard stayed on the job site most of the time (along his job supervisor, who was always there when Richard couldn't be). Smart decisions and solutions re: dry rot and other minor problems that arose during the tear-down of our old roof. A quiet, courteous and effective work crew.

All in all, a great experience for this, our first with a roofer.
