After noticing a stain on the kitchen ceiling, I suspected a roof leak somewhere. I called River City to have them look at it. Myles called me and agreed to come out the next day. He arrived as promised, inspected the roof, and found where the roof was leaking. After providing an estimate, I asked if he could put me on the schedule. He said, ""It's supposed to rain later, so I can do it right now, if you want to."" Not only did he fix the leak, he cleaned the gutters and replaced the underlayment on the back that was looking weathered as well. As forecasted, it actually started sprinkling while Myles was on the roof. He went above and beyond, prevented additional water damage, taught me some things about my roof (a ""lifetime"" roof requires maintenance every 7-8 years), and cleaned my gutters all before the rains started. Recommend them? Yes I would. Call them again for maintenance? Absolutely!

The roof looks great! I was warned by my family about needing to clean up my yards and driveway once the roof was done, but I swear my backyard looks better now than before the roof job started. My neighbors have given the roof lots of compliments and were impressed by the look and speed that the job was done (completely torn off on Thursday, new roof completely installed that Saturday). When Fred came out to do the estimate, he walked with me around my house, told me what I needed, and just as importantly told me what I DIDN'T need. I really appreciated his transparency with everything and that I never felt nickeled and dimed because of my roofing ignorance. Definitely one of the best experiences I've had with a contractor of any kind in my 3 years of home ownership. It made the whole process of this large expense project very stress free for me. His quote was in line with other estimates that I received. I decided to go with River City because of the customer service and felt like the company cared about my satisfaction and treated me like a valued customer, not just a paycheck. The roof is new, so only time will tell how it holds up, but it looks great and very professionally done. I am not worried about leaks and damage if we have another record wet and windy year in the future.

I have dealt with a few roofing companies in my past and can say without a doubt that River City Roofing is the most professional group that I have ever done business with. The owners name is Fred and he does his own bids. Roofing contractors are sketchy to say the least. I requested quotes from seven different contractors. Not only was Fred very competitive, he more importantly was easy to contact and responded when he said he was going to. CRAZY RIGHT!???. Fred worked with me to figure out exactly what I wanted, to include some dry rot repair. We decided on a price and he told me when his projected start date would be. Juggling around the recent rain, his crew shows up when they said that they would, stipped, repaired, and reroofed in three days. Amazing crew. Cleaned up after themselves, tarped all of the plants. On the last day, they did a final clean up an my new beautiful roof was done. They pulled all of the permits required, worked with inspectors during the process. Hands free and seamless for me. Fred did his final interview with me, was paid, and left for the next job. I HIGHLY recommend River City Roofing. I only wish that I had more properties that needed a roof. ,)

As far as roofing goes they got the job done. It took 4 days to do a basic roof. Biggest complaint is that they threw everything in my backyard out onto the grass and then left it there. Pretty rude! I would think it would be professional courtesy to move things back where I found them but apparently not here.

Myles from River City Roofing provided me with excellent service! When I needed replacement tiles, he came to my house, gave me a free estimate and found matching tiles for my 17 year old roof. After I put my house on the market, several inspections took place. Myles returned to my house in August 2016 and replaced a broken tile free of charge.

While installing Xmas lights my ladder fell off the roof and cracked 8 roof tiles. When I called Fred with River City Roofing to inquire about fixing the tiles myself to save money he not only told me exactly where to buy the tiles but also how to install them. Not many companies would spend 30 minutes on the phone knowing they will not make any profit on the customer. Fred, I cannot thank you enough. Everything came out perfect and you saved me over $500. River City Roofing removed our old 1,600 sq ft roof and installed new fiberglass dimensional composition shingles in September 2015. The owner contractor, Fred Gregory, was very cordial, as well as honest and knowledgeable. The tear-off and installation of the new roof was performed by Franko and Marco. Both men have been working with Fred for about 15 years, and have excellent experience. Not only were they fast, but also very accurate and considerate. They essentially worked from 7:30 AM to about 2:00 PM both days, non-stop, and the job was completed in a timely manner. I was very pleased with the ultimate appearance.

I was attracted to River City Roofing because they are a relatively local company with positive reviews. I did contact one other company for a possible bid, but they were apparently busy and never followed up on our initial communiqué. I did however price the job with my civil engineering background and found Fred's price to be extremely fair, and likely lower than what might have been bid by other nearby roofing contractors.

Overall, I was very happy with River City Roofing and would highly recommend them.

I'd highly recommend Fred Gregory and River City Roofing....extremely satisfied with the job they just completed - tearing off 2 layers of shingles and replacing my roof! And you can't beat their price! My roof job was a ""special case"" since my solar water heater is on the roof, and Fred's crew carefully removed the solar equipment, stripped the roof, and reroofed that specific area first so I wouldn't have to go without hot water over night!

Got a quote from another roofing company in Carmichael, and they were extremely high and said they wouldn't touch my solar water heating mechanism. Instead, they referred me to someone else who told me it would cost $1000 to remove the solar and put it back on. (Yeah Sac City Plumbing, but that's another review)

Fred returned every phone call, was very responsive and considerate of my schedule due to the numerous rescheduling we had to do because of weather. His crew worked their butts off and cleaned up the mess every night!

I am extremely satisfied with River City Roofing and Fred is a gem to work with!

Wow! River City Roofers rock! We had a surprise leak and not only did they respond immediately, they fixed our roof In Davis on Christmas eve and this without ever having met us before! And the price was very reasonable, to boot. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

OK, so Fred is all that and he definitely deserves this rating. My nightmare: we are vacationing in Hawaii and get a call from our property manager in Sacramento that our roof on our rental house (house is in Rancho Cordova, we live in the Bay Area) is ""partially falling down""?!?!? They sent pictures and yes, it was. So frustrated because crisis-mode is not how I like to operate, I will reserve my Yelp review of our property management company for another time (and to be fair we found them on Yelp too and they worked with us to fix problem but... still not cool and we managed the house ourselves for 5 years without any problems like this so.... grrrrrr. And yes, we knew we needed a new roof sometime and did get one call about patching a leak early this winter - OK enough, the more I write about it, the more frustrated I get again). I managed to get 5 bids within several days, I did my research, I learned about energy-star savings, manufacturers of shingles, leaf-guard gutters, different options for flat roofs - house has partial flat roof in the back, and in the end, Fred was very fairly priced (not the cheapest but definitely not the most expensive) and overall I felt we learned and agreed with his options / assessments, and he worked hard to be accommodating in returning phone calls and getting the work scheduled and finished quickly while managing the rains that just seemed to keep coming (into June, hello?!?!). He texted and sent pictures and hustled for me because I asked for it (normally I could be more flexible but I was anxious because I couldn't physically be there to see the project and we had to account for renters trying to live in the house, so it seemed like everything required a lot of communication). We even had one small 'problem' with a hole in the sheetrock and it was dealt with very quickly, which again shows a lot, things happen but does it get addressed quickly, taken seriously and fixed, and yes it did. There were no surprises, price was the price, work was done... and very quickly which was important to me. What else... I will say that I am very glad I did talk with 5 different roof companies, I feel like I got more information and was more informed than if I'd have just talked with 1 or 2. This is often the case with any project and it was certainly true here. Nightmare over, wake up to a new day! May this never happen again, but thank you Fred for being a good-news part of this not-so-great-news story.
