Bill D.Our relationship with Reliable Home Improvement began as in incidental solicitation and ended with an AWESOME front patio cover and decomposed granite patio. And this is coming from someone that finds a unique way of turning away solicitors for entertainment!!
The solicitor scheduled an appointment to meet with a Salesman, Jeremy. Though youthful, Jeremy is a company man and is not afraid to say, ""I don't know but I can find out."" Do to the nature of our project, (center piece of the front yard and wanting it to blend with the house), we were VERY picky about what we wanted it and how we wanted it done. Jeremy found a solution for our needs and gave us a fair bid.
Once the weather cleared and construction began, it was evident that the bid, the actual job, and our particular needs were not on target. It would have been very easy for Reliable to ""back out"" of the contract as one reviewer noted, but it appears Reliable Home Improvement does not take the easy way out. They sent one of the company owners over to the house on a Saturday morning to assess the situation, clarify our needs, and find a solution. Ryan immediately concurred that changes to the original designs needed to be made to meet our needs and went to work on an action plan.
By the beginning of the next week, we had a new and improved design and were going to end up with a larger cover than what was originally bid. And get this, simply because Reliable Home Improvement wanted to make us happy, they were going to absorb the cost!! That my friend is how you do business and is the definition of good customer service.
The following week when the new materials arrived, the structure was built and the DG was put down. It appears that the various crews took great care to leave the site cleaner than when they arrived and in the end, left us with an awesome completed project.
I am sorry for those folks who had a less than stellar relationship with Reliable Home Improvement, but rest assured, I see them as going the extra mile to make the customer happy. So maybe the issue wasn't on Reliable's end?
Andres T.My wife & I called on Reliable to help with some demo work finished with a new color coated concrete pitted new cement slap that we are very happy with. Thanks again to Jesse, Patrick & all the crew. Good job, clean up & fast. Looking forward to there services in the future.
Cathy M.Can't say enough great things about these guys. I needed a roof and once we got a few days break in the rain, they were all over it. Bill and his crew are awsome, quick, and made sure to clean up everything around the yard. Kept me posted on everything going on. Took less then 48 hours from start to finish. I would recommend these guys to anyone and everyone.
Madi A.Reliable is anything but reliable! I cannot say this strong enough... potential buyer BEWARE!!!
Like many of the other complaints, this is not out of the norm for Reliable. In fact, Ryan, one of the owners, philosophy is ""you win some, you lose some"". Which translates to... first he charges several thousand dollars more than the job actually costs, then he makes it out to sound like he won't nit-pick you with the design. It doesn't matter if you go with the cheaper counter tops and flooring, or decide to go with the more expensive tile, because after all, he already charged you for the more expensive stuff, he just doesn't tell you this. He gets his profit through his so-called ""professional designer"" Kathy, for it is her job to convince you to go with the cheaper stuff which she makes sure to show you first! You really have to pry and be persistent to see other stuff as she will tell you that is all they carry.
Don't be fooled with Ryan's talk about letting you work with a professional designer because Kathy was anything but! She was basically nothing more than a project manager who did a horrible job at best. When we asked her for her advice on a given design, we either got, ""well it's is whatever you guys want"" or when we did pick one out she actually told us ""OMG I hate that one and I wish the store would take down that display because everyone seems to pick that and I think it is the ugliest one they have"". What the heck! So basically, we were on our own with no help from her at all!!! While she drives around in her fancy vehicle she tries convincing you to use crap! She doesn't have a clue what she is doing. Trust me! She does all of the purchasing for the project and she is so scattered brained that she doesn't bother to look at what is written on the contract and she purchased all the wrong materials.
Like many of the other reviewers, I first met Reliable at a craft fair. I agreed to meet with them because they convinced me to give a ""small town, not a big name"" a chance. After agreeing to meet, Ryan the owner showed up for a 20-minute presentation he told us. That 20 minute presentation ended up being 4.5 hours later... we thought he would never leave. We also experienced his smooth talk with open ended questions. Even though we were aware that he was working us, he finally convinced us to go with his company. Worst mistake of our lives!!!!
Again, I can say it strong enough...potential Buyer BEWARE!!! Reliable doesn't have a clue what they are doing!!! Read these reviews carefully. I wish I had. Rather than go into great detail of how they screwed up every single thing they touched in our remodel, it ALL had to be re-done. Ryan just looked at it as we were one of the ones he lost on, but in reality, he really didn't lose since he overcharged us in the first place. Not the best work ethic in my opinion. Regardless, I have never worked with such incompetent contractor in my life! Although, we made them fix almost everything in the end, our promised two-week remodel turned into a very long six months later of total incompetence! If they had just hired the correct sub-contractor in the first place, they wouldn't have had to hire a second, or in some cases, even a third, to come out and fix the mistakes the previous sub-contractors screwed up! What a total disaster! I often overheard them calling Ryan on their cell phones to tell him what a mess they had made of things. My once perfectly working master bath, now doesn't drain right, they cut my carpet wrong twice and left it, it really should be replaced but that would have meant them replacing the entire bedroom, which of course, they wasn't going to do! Just to list a few of their screw ups... Had to re-do the shower tile, I asked for a soap dish and instead, I got a ""nitch"" whatever the heck that is?!! Kathy's made up term because they put the soap dish in the wrong way! They installed the lighting upside down, never bothering to ask how it should be installed. Kathy even purchased and installed the wrong toilet!!! We specially asked for a comfort height, round seat toilet and she purchased the cheapest piece of crap she could find, and it wasn't even comfort height! And it was only because she did not get the comfort height as listed in the contract, were we able to have them install a good functioning toilet with steel working parts instead of plastic.
Should you decide to, which I strongly caution you not to go with reliable, you better make absolutely SURE that you don't allow Ryan just to write out one long run-on paragraph of what you are having done. Not only is this very unprofessional and unclear, but make CERTAIN that you have him bullet out every last detail of the project or they will try to skimp out on that also.
Now every time that I see Reliable at fair's, I just want to protest right in front of them and warn everyone who walks by. In Reliable's case, you don't get what you pay for! CAUTION!
If there was a negative star rating I would give it. These people are horrible. They talk a good game but they have no follow thru. They do NOT stand behind their work. I have electrical that does not work, paint falling off and cracks in my walls from their ""work"".
Jose O.This contractor was installing gutters and doing other minor work at my neighbor's house when the 10 year old gutters on my house collapsed. My wife got good feedback from our neighbor so she asked the contractor to look at what it would take to fix our gutters. The installers were subcontracted and explained they had too many projects at the moment but suggested my wife contact the sales folks. We mentioned to our neighbor our interest in getting a quote and a day later Reliable's sales rep, Joe, knocked on our door. He said he had a commitment but would return the next day, which he did. During the follow-up Joe explained the company's philosophy. As suggested in other reviews, the interview is longer than one would expect for simple jobs. While it is a version of up-selling, Joe also explained that it is more cost effective for the home owner to think through what they want and the opportunities present in any job. As to what my wife and I wanted, it turns out our original gutter contractor cut some corners in not installing enough drains in a very lengthy run on that section of our house. They should have also put in reinforcing screws with a lengthy run. The weight of water was bound to bring it down. After our insurance company reviewed the matter and my wife and I did other due diligence, we decided to go ahead and give Reliable a chance. Joe admitted the Yelp reviews were not very good. Given our simple job, we took a chance. A top notch gutter subcontractor was brought in. It was not the same group that did our neighbor's house. The head installer answered my questions and concerns, installed the drains in logical places, took care of another problem with gutter reinforcement on the opposite side of the house, also installed leaf screens, and was done in a half day. Our home insurance (AAA) covered half the cost based on our policy and their own assessment of the project. We are happy.
Devin M.This is the worst company ever!!! I am currently entering into a lawsuit with this company because they are trying to back out of their contract with me and my spouse.
We signed a contract with them to build us a second story deck and at first they were great. About a week later they tried to come back to us saying they wouldn't do the deck without more money. I asked why they are saying this and they answered that they simply weren't making enough of a profit for the work they would do. I could not believe they said that to me. I told them that I have a contract so no I wont pay more. After that they backed down but then after the permits and plans were approved they tried to get us to sign an addendum to their contract so that they could cut giant sections out of the first and second floor's selling and walls. Here was the catch, they said that they would not fix the holes that they would be cutting. They would only put up drywall. That means I would have to find another contractor to repair the walls completely adding thousands to the already thousands we would be spending. I said I would not be signing it so they left and never answered a call again. I am working with my attorney to sue them over a breach of contract and abandonment of a project.
TRUST ME, YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE THESE PEOPLE OR THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL SCREW YOU IN THE END IF THEY EVEN DO THE WORK THEY PROMISE. THEY ARE ANYTHING BUT RELIABLE!!!
We've been slowly getting our backyard fixed and had them come out for a quote. The salesman was really nice and personable. We were interested in artificial grass and concrete work. In chatting with him, I found out they also replace windows and fences, both things we will need. I really like the idea of going through one company for all of these things. The budget for the concrete and artificial grass is around what I expected. We haven't decided on artificial or real yet, but I felt compelled to write a review because 1. I really liked the guy, and 2. the ""one stop shop"" benefit!
Shopped until I found what I wanted. Reliable has an excellent product. Installation was on time, professional and exactly what I expected. The cost was at the lower end with a 50 year warranty, so out of five I interviewed, Reliable won hands down.
Looked at *ome *epot and large and small companies throughout the area and outside. Jessie is an honest, straight forward and truthful representative... A company, the salesperson and the installers are all different people and all of them were outstanding. Would recommend to friends and family and already have...
Ken R.I also met these people at a local event . When the salesperson came over he was very nice and polite. We started talking about the project and he started to show me all of the neat things his company had done to other houses. They he shows me his wedding pictures, really!!?? I was not invited I do not care to see this. So back to the project him again I show him what holes I want put into an interior non load baring wall and how much it will cost. Right off the top he said I need to get an engineer out to look it over and that would be $2,000 for that. Plus $6,000 to $10, 000 for the work. I was both mad and humored by this. I laughed and explained I built a pool up against a large hill in my back yard an the engineer was not even half that. I explained all I needed was a header put in and explained how to do this. At this point I could tell the sales guy knew what I was talking about and I had called him out on his rip off. He became very nervous and I noticed sweat on his face. I would not hire this company to install a mail box, so not way in this world would they work on my home!!!
