After an informative consultation to decide what Solaris roof tiles to choose for our remote dwelling, Redwood Empire provided a detailed quote. It took some time to get on their schedule which was fine with us. They installed a beautiful new roof with a local crew of pros in a matter of days. They stripped off all the old roofing materials, inspected and repaired the underlayment boards where needed, and installed the new roof perfectly with special attention around the chimney and skylights. They cleaned up every day - spotlessly! I enjoyed having the crew here and really appreciate their care and professionalism. The job was completed on time and under budget. I highly recommend Redwood Empire Roofing. They have a busy schedule for a good reason: their work is excellent.

I called twice to get an estimate with no return calls or anything for two weeks. When I called back to see the status, I was told they suddenly aren't working in my area. It would've been nice to have been told that the first two times I called.

I asked for a quote and had someone at the house within a couple of days, way faster than other outfits. Once the job started, the crew had the roof torn off and started on the new roof in the same day, finished the install in a timely manner. The crew did a great job at picking up all the scraps and nails. They have done at least a quarter of the roofs on my street in the last couple of years and everyone else has good things to say as well. Very happy with the installation.

The crew did not adequately protect the house during the tear-off and there was a fair amount of damage to the siding as well as a broken window. They argued that the broken window was not their fault, but it wasn't broken before they started. There was also damage to rain gutters in several areas, so my new roof left me with several additional expensive projects.

They did a pretty good job for us, but we had to keep watch. The first few days of the younger crew scraping off the old shingles, smoking, and some littering wasn't professional, but they were fast and that's important, too. No loud music, so that was nice. Unfortunately they left the sharp flashing laying on the roof over the weekend when we had a wind storm and my husband had to get up there and secure things. I called the owner and he came out on a Sunday to take a look. The actual roofers also left some cigarette butts around and in one place roofed over some rotten wood. Once again, the owner was responsive and had someone fix it a few days later. He gets 4-stars - 5 if you factor in owning a business and trying to hire a work crew in Humboldt County, where work ethic and pride in workmanship is a lost art.
