These folks know their stuff and operate with high integrity- everything you could hope for. They just did a complicated, large-scale window and door project for our condo - we replaced every single window and door in the entire place. They were communicative, clean and VERY professional. The install team was at our house working for days with me and the baby around, and they were capable, responsible AND considerate every step of the way.

I've been working with them for years and, with every interaction, Justin and his team just impress me more. They offer great advice and strong options, but they don't pressure sell you. We were happy to give them all the business we could, and we hope to add more projects in the near future.

Deciding who to hire for your solar project can be overwhelming. I interviewed 5 companies before deciding to hire RC Energy Solutions. Justin and his team made it easy. Justin is extremely responsive and trustworthy. I didn't feel pressured when making my decision. When I met with Justin, it was easy to see that he knew what he was doing. One of the companies that bid on my project recommended 10 solar panels, which I knew was not enough to meet my consumption needs after meeting with Justin. Another company didn't even show up for the appointment. Bottom line, be skeptical and make sure you trust who you hire. You will have an ongoing relationship with them because everything is monitored and has a warranty. You want someone that is going to fix the problem when you call. I couldn't be happier with the results of my project and my decision to hire RC Energy. Thanks Justin and team for all of your hard work!

Justin from RC Energy Solutions bidded for me while I was in the ""quote phase"" for Solar.

Although he did not end up getting my contract, I was very pleased with his offerings, and his extremely competitive pricing. Out of nine companies I got quotes from, I would say Justin was #2 and nearly tied with my #1. I also appreciated how he did NOT upsell me or pressure me to make a decision within a short time frame.

I ended up not deciding to redo my roof, but if I had, I would have picked Justin because his pricing for the roof portion was by far the most competitive and included the most bang for the buck.

His solar panel designs also reflected his knowledge in local code, as some other bids were too conservative in their roof setbacks and panel locations. He also offers a wide range of panel types for different system requirements.

Overall I would strongly recommend engaging RC Energy Solutions in your bidding process if you ever consider Roofing or Solar. There is a good chance they will be the most competitive.

We had new roof w/ asphalt shingles and solar panels installed. Not only Justin, the owner, but all the crew chiefs were knowledgeable, pleasant and articulate. They were great about keeping us informed and addressing any questions or problems. They worked long hours and weekends to make up for rain days. Minor damage was done to our ceiling from the hammering on the roof and they fixed that for free. My spouse is extremely detail-oriented and Justin never lost patience with all the questions. We would absolutely recommend them and may hire them again if we need other construction done.

My original review was delegated to the section of ""not trusted"" even though it had several positive reviews from others. It contained a lot of information that is important when trying to decide on solar companies. I just had RC do my roof on my rental and was very pleased with the work. I chose them because they had done a great job on my home installing the solar and insulation. Here is my original review: In the summer of 2015 we wanted to do a re-roof on our two-story, 2400 ft. home, and then purchase solar. I had been talking to many companies and even attended the free seminar put out by SDGE. I initially signed with Pacific Home Remodeling as they are approved by the PACE lenders, YGrene. However, I read reviews of Pacific and was not impressed. I used the 72 cancellation clause and canceled my contract. They did try to win me back with a substantially lower bid, but I had already spoken to RC Energy Solutions and was impressed with the reviews I had read online. RC was also approved by Ygrene although we eventually decided to use our Equity Line of Credit. Justin and I renegotiated some items before the 72 hours ran out (Originally I was supposed to pay for any plywood replacement on the roof, but I negotiated that into the bid.) Where Pacific had bid out a whole new roof, RC suggested saving my original tile (which was still in good shape) and doing a re-roof using it with some new tiles being used where there weren't enough original tiles to complete the roof. It was substantially less, so we decided to do that. Included in my bid were 18 solar panels, re-roof using my tiles, new insulation in my attic, and a new solar tube-approx $33,000. They did come back and ask for additional money for some wood replacement and I paid the $1,200 to do it. I was amazed at the workers. They showed up in the hottest weather of the year--consistently 98 degrees and probably much more on top of the roof. They worked non-stop, cleaned up afterward, and were very amiable. Dan and Shaun, the persons who will set up the solar account and show you how to monitor your solar output, were kind and professional. The longest part of the process was waiting six weeks for them to begin because they had numerous projects before me. Otherwise, the re-roof, insulation and solar installation took about ten days altogether. I liked working with RC. Four years later and the system is working fine, the roof looks great. PACE LENDING-- 1. Make sure you know how much they charge in interest and how much the roof/system will cost after fees, interest, and the contract price. I know YGrene charges somewhere around 8% interest, which makes the solar system substantially more expensive in the end. 2. Find out if you can pay the loan off early without penalty. YGrene allows you to pay off early, but you have to pay the WHOLE amount off early. That means you can't just put a few hundred extra on each month to pay it off quicker. 3. Read up on the problems of trying to sell your home with a PACE loan. Because the loan is charged as a Mello Roos, the loan stays attached to the house when you sell it (that means the buyer has to continue to pay off the loan.) Because the PACE lender is charging it as a tax, they get first dibs on any money if someone forecloses or there is a short sale. LENDERS do not like to be second in line to receive their money so many will not lend on a house that has a PACE loan. So re-financing or selling can sometimes be more difficult for a homeowner. I suggest checking with RC. Some other reviewers financed through RC Energy and it looks like they got a good deal. Make sure you weigh the above against owning a solar system. In many cases, especially those with pools, electric cars, etc. it makes financial sense to install solar. But do the math before you jump in...we were able to take advantage of the Tax rebate which was recently extended several years. Check with SDGE on how much you will receive for each kWh you produce. You still have to pay a monthly fee to rent their equipment to transfer your energy to them, but make sure they're paying you a decent amount for your energy. I doubt you'll get 100% return on your solar when you sell your house..not only because the panels will have less life, but because most people don't know their worth, and, although they want solar but don't want to pay for it.

This review is long overdue. We used RC Energy to add solar to our nee home (at the same time we were doing a pretty big remodel). We got quotes from 2 other companies and all were very close. We went with RC Energy because I liked both Ken and Justin, liked that they had a good reputation and roofing background and that they could get the job done much quicker than the other 2 companies. Ken was great at working with us to get exactly what we wanted (house and pool solar). The crew showed up on time and got everything done quickly and painlessly, which was huge for us since we had a lot of other contractors at our house. We were up and running within a few weeks and have been happily ""off the grid"" for a couple months with no problems. I highly recommend.

These guys work together with ivan for the roofing........ivan is tops. With RC I had to work out where the solar will go and I got what i wanted. After a month it appeared to stop working.......they were out here in a day.

So this an update to earlier review that I wrote under very different circumstances. Having had time to consider the situation I have come away with a different perspective on RC Energy I met with the owner shortly afterwards and both agreed that much of problem could have been avoided with better communication. I have an older home that's been highly renovated and much of the previous work was not permitted. This fact alone should have changed our decisions and process. We planned for best case instead of worst case and the city inspectors were less than helpful. We ended doing a service upgrade that included installing a 200amp panel and moving the meter from the main unit to the guest house. RC's team did an excellent job on the installation which involved significant trenching. Needless to say, I did not have to replace any of the stone tiling in my backyard and you can hardly tell that any tiles were removed. Now I have a significant upgrade in electrical service that is much safer and code compliant. Justin also agreed to split the cost with me so that helped decrease the stress level of an unplanned expense. Thanks again RC and cant wait to get my mini-split AC unit installed. Oh and I love my Solar. Cant wait for the tax credit!

Justin & his crew did a great job with our solar installation. Had a minor hiccup with the wrong water heater but besides that we're seeing our energy costs be reduced every month. Justin and his guy Sergio also did a fantastic job on our guest bath remodel recently. Justin was thorough, on time, on budget and communicated with me every step of the way. He picked up all the new materials & installed them, painted our bathroom a beautiful shade of blue. We're already having him quote us on other projects currently.
