I had my roof done by Ramos' crew in 2014. This January, my husband noticed a leak in the attic. We called Ramos to come take a look and he came by the next day to go on the roof and re-caulk around the roof jack. After the most recent storm, the same spot is still leaking, so I need to call him back, but I wanted to write a review for the timeliness of his response and that he stands by the guarantee of his work.

In 2014 We had Mr Ramos and his crew roof our 100 year old rental property in Oakland and as said by another reviewer he suggested fixes to drainage issues before I could bring them up. After the rains finally came back I am happy to say the roof has not leaked at all in 2 years and drainage works like a charm. I am planning to have Ramos Roofing do the job on our home in North Berkeley this season.

I want to let all our Pleasanton friends who keep asking who did our roof it was Ramos Roofing out of Oakland and we couldn't be happier with the final product.
I need to tell you all if you want someone with a great price, honest and very professional and clean workmanship Lauro Ramos and his crew is it.
I had some challenges I wanted added to my roof and Lauro said no problem we can do that and he did.
I was so impressed with how quick everything was and they always cleaned up at the end of the day.
My wife Maxine and I cannot thank you enough because the next day after he finished the roof it rained so hard and Lauro said don't worry you will be fine and we were.
My family and I thank you for being able to come home and not walk through the house looking for leaks because our old roof was in such bad shape.

Ramos Roofing has low overhead (no fancy trucks), access to the same high quality materials as the over bidders, and a very professional team. He's very communicative and displays high attention to detail. His team replaced a very steep roof on my 1930's house. They took 4 days to demo the 3 layers of old roofing and replace. Covered with cdx plywood (don't use obs), 18 inch valley flashing and added crickets to the flat spots. I have a construction background and watched them for around 3 hours each day. Didn't observe any problems since the 6 of them were working like a coordinated team. After they finished I climbed on the roof to inspect and overall they did a great job. Test will be when it rains, but it looks pretty water tight. I picked Ramos because he answered my question correctly. The fact that he was one of the lower estimates was an added plus.

Update: In addition to the house (composite shingles) I had him roof two apartment buildings (modified bitumen) in Oakland. Very, efficient, clean and fast. In his estimate he recommended corrections necessary for these 103 year old buildings to drain properly before I had a chance to bring them up. His team was courteous enough to take down the old TV antenna. I'll use him for my other properties in the future.

These three buildings are ready for the next El Nino.

I hired Ramos Roofing to replace my 20 year old steep combo shake/tar & gravel roof based on recommendation from my contractor, reviews, and the fact he had worked with Jay Lee (See reviews) for 10 years before taking over the company upon Mr. Lee's retirement. I was on sight during much of the job and found Mr. Ramos' crew consistent with other reviews... efficient, hard working, professional, and very neat...they actually appeared to enjoy their work and each other. It impressed me that an inspector showed up and mentioned to me that Ramos has a good reputation. Upon completion, I asked a Class A contractor friend who has a great eye for detail to examine the job. He was impressed with the quality of the work and cost, however found the flashing at the base of stone chimney to be fully functional but aesthetically a little rough. I pointed this out to Mr Ramos and he immediately brought a couple of crew members back to cover flashing with a smooth layer on the rough surface and it looks great. I love my new roof, and appreciate every aspect of my experience with Ramos Roofing. They will be my roofer of the future!!

They gave me a good price and did a good job on the roof, itself. That's the good and the only reason he gets two stars. The bad: I think he overcharged me for some additional work that had to be done - and bear in mind that additional work is often necessary. That's not the worst part: They did an extremely sloppy job on some flashing and it wouldn't have even held water out. I had to call and call again to get him to come out and correct it. Then, worst of all, after the rains started I found that the gutters were installed incorrectly, with the water running away from the downspouts. I've called several times. The last time he arranged to come and look at it but he never showed up. No call. Nothing.

Update: I was finally able to get ahold of Lauro and I informed him that I'd given him a negative review on Yelp and if I had to get another roofer to come out I'd demand he pay the bill. He then did come out and got some of his crew to more or less repair the problem. Just giving credit where it's due, but I still would not recommend him.

Lauro Ramos came highly recommended and lived up to his reputation. From day one to the end of the job, the entire crew was professional and courteous. They arrived on the scheduled date and worked from 8:30AM to 5:30PM everyday. Each evening before they left, they cleaned up their work area and left my property neat and tidy. I have a very steep roof that needed 3 layers removed. The crew skillfully handled this challenging job. The bid was reasonable even when he added on an additional amount for extra work. I am happy that I went with Lauro and his incredible crew!

Mr. Ramos was the most reasonable bid out of three bloated bids from the top ranking roofers here on Yelp. Like another reviewers, we were hesitant at first. However, His crew was awesome!!! They did a fantastic job on our roof!! So good in fact, that we contracted them to do other work on our home as well. We can't say enough good things about this roofing company. Thanks Lauro and crew! Not only did you save us thousands of dollars, but we now have peace of mind for the upcoming rainy season.

I put off getting a new roof for years, as I didn't want the hassle. We went through several iterations of quotes over several years, and Lauro Ramos beat all of them and saved us thousands of dollars. I typically don't go with the lowest bid because I always figure they are going to cut corners. Not so in this case!! He arrived with a whole crew of roofers, and they immediately got to work removing the three layers of roofing, putting in a new plywood deck, and then cleaning up at the end of the day. I was amazed as how quickly they worked, and how responsive Lauro was to my concerns on strange idiosyncrasies specific to my house. It turned out that I had some boards needing replacing, and some gutters than also need to be fixed. Even after these small additional costs, the price still beat the next highest bid by several thousand dollars. Go with Ramos. You won't be sorry!!

I had an old leaky roof on my residence and the rains were starting, so I got half a dozen bids on the roofing and gutters. Ramos Roofing came in the lowest and also promised to do a good job. A good job is exactly what he and his crew did, and I'm happy with the results. They started without any delay and finished tearing off the old roof, doing repairs and had the new roof and gutters completed in only 2 days time.
I highly recommend Mr. Ramos and his wonderful crew, they are the best.
