Recommended Customer Reviews

Mike and his team have worked with us for close to two decades- from replacing the full roof when we moved in to the ongoing maintenance over the years. His is professional and very customer-centric, a refreshingly 'old school' approach in a decidedly 'new school' economy'. He is timely, keeps his commitments and fair and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

Protection Roofing hires people that don't even speak or understand English. What a shame. They made a mess with all that garbage from the roof and left it in our yard. They didn't clean up the yard. What a mess. We have lots of birds coming and this garbage makes them ill.
Protection Roofing you need to place canvas in the yard before working on the roof. It is easy to sweep on the concrete but not on grass. You also need to be more customer service oriented. Roof fixed but again what a mess they made.

Protection was chosen by my HOA Board to replace the building's roof in mid-Nov. And the nightmare begins bc a HUGE leak (more like a waterfall) happened in my bedroom which could've been prevented if only a DRAIN and appropriate waterproofing was put in when rain was anticipated the couple days around thanksgiving when they knew the job was not officially done yet. That leak caused so much trouble, stress, and anxiety for us. it wasn't until last week that we finally were able to sleep in our bedroom again. Leak occurred on 11/24/15 and the damage repair was completed on 1/14/16.
** you may skip to the last paragraph now if you don't want to read details of what happened **
11/24/15: water poured down thru my bedroom ceiling light when I was still in bed at 10am. I jumped out of bed and grabbed whatever I could to catch the water (a gigantic pot). The water would not stop pouring down so I called my mgmt company who gave me Protections phone number. Mike picks up and initially said ""we can't do anything since it's still raining, we have to wait until the rain stops which would be around noon"". I told him it's ""pouring in here, do you hear it?"" Then he heard it and said ""ok, I'll send someone out there right now"". Thirty min later I heard someone on the roof, then the leak very slowly lessened. A worker came into my apartment to see the situation, then he told me that ""there was no drain up there so water was collecting; there was a large swimming pool on top of your bedroom, but we put in a drain now and the problem is fixed. Wait another 2 hrs..then the leak should stop"". I asked him what to do, he said ""just let the water come out"" and said ""you are so unlucky that this leak happened to your apartment, nobody else have any leaks"". I was In shock to hear this. It was not my luck, it was their bad work!!! It was difficult to understand what the workers said and they didn't provide me with a clear explanation of what happened or what the next steps should be so I called Mike to ask after they left. Also, I thought I would feel more at ease after hearing some explanation from the manager/boss. Mike said he knows that his staff looked at the situation and that they already explained to me... But he did explain to me again after I asked again. Not very much business sense, right? Then he said they can return in a couple days to assess the ceiling damage and fix it but they can't do anything until the ceiling is dried anyway. Well, we were leaving town the next day for the next 2-3 weeks...just great timing right.. and rain was also in the forecast when we would be gone. I was nervous that there would be leaks while we are gone. Total of 6-7 gallons of water came down into my bedroom. Luckily I was home to catch this leak! Anyway, Mike agreed to replace my damaged mattress and said he would personally deliver it to me, reassured me that they take care of their customers. So we worked with Rebecca to get the mattress and it was delivered, though only Sleeptrain personally delivered the mattress to us.
Mid-Dec: It donned on us to request for mold inspection/testing when we returned from our trip since the ceiling was still moist when we touched it through the opening where the light was removed. And sure enough, results came back showing the highest level of mold/mold spores and mold removal/decontamination was recommended. Argh, have to update management company who was the liaison between us and Protection for repairs etc.
12/31/15: mold company came to remove mold removal/decontaminate. We had to move everything out of our bedroom and the mold company removed 5ft x 5ft of our bedroom ceiling to do deep cleaning of where the leak happened. We couldn't be in our home until we received clearance from the retest.
1/5/16: we got results (which we paid for 2-day rush) from mold company and was able to move back, but not into the bedroom bc Protection needs to come patch up the ceiling and put back our ceiling light (they dished this out with my management company)
1/7/16: received confirmation from Rebecca that their staff will come to patch up ceiling on 1/11/16 and the process takes a few hours over two days
1/11-1/14/16: their workers came everyday, a total of about 10 hrs inc. buying materials over FOUR days, not two as Rebecca has told me. I had to be home all of those days.
All of this wouldn't have happened if a drain and appropriate waterproofing was put in before the rain on 11/23/15. I know Mike checks weather since he was able to tell me that rain should stop at noon on 11/24/15. There was not a single apology from anyone of Protection throughout this entire ordeal and no follow-up/closure from Mike or Rebecca after 1/11/16.
Two star rating instead of one star rating since they replaced our mattress, paid for part of our mold inspection/decontamination, and patched up our bedroom ceiling. I guess the situation would be worse if they did not agree to do that and we have to go to court!

If you're in need of quality workmanship with undeniable credibility and genuine customer service, Protection Roofing company is truly one of Bay Area's finest.
The corrugated sun roof on my sunset district house was leaking so badly to the point that my entire stairwell looked like a flowing waterfall. A family friend recommended Mike and his crew to do a job that would need little or no maintenance in the future. They were absolutely right. Now with the arrival of El Niño, I've been paying close attention to my new roof and not a single drop of water has leaked in. On top of the quality workmanship, his recommendations and opinions for future potential problems were genuine and very educational. Mike and his crew are officially the only roofers I trust and I highly recommend Protection Roofing to all in need of a trustworthy roof above their heads.

Last year, Mike was recommended by a friend, and I was pleased with the work until the first rain of the season. Water poured into a downstairs bathroom from a light well. My husband called Mike who eventually came (the day before another large rain storm was expected). As he walked in the door, he said ""really, you should call a plumber, as your pipes are probably filled with years of build-up. My guys always check the drains. It can't be our fault."" He would not even check to see if debris from the roofing job was in the pipes. I could not believe all the time that I had wasted waiting for him and was freaked out because a large storm was expected the next day.
Since this type of leak had also happened the year before when our neighbors had their roof done and debris filled our light well drain and the same bathroom had water damage (which had only recently been repaired), it seemed too coincidental. But, as rain was coming, I paid for a same-day plumber to come out. Sure enough, he pulled out roofing material from the drain. The pipes were just fine, no build up at all.
My husband has tried to get Mike to come out, repair the damage to the sealant at the bottom of the light well (which came up due to the filling of the light well with rain water) and the damaged bathroom ceiling and reimburse us for the the plumber, but he does not even return calls. So the light well is covered with wiggle board, reducing the light into the house, and the rain is back, and the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom is still peeling from the water damage. Per the other reviews, Mike seems to be great....so long as there are no problems. His guys are good workers, but clearly did not inspect the drain pipes.

Mike was referred to me by a family friend in the real estate business who spoke highly of his work. Mike did not disappoint! I was in the middle of gathering estimates from other roofers, and Mike's responsiveness, flexibility, and knowledge made him the easiest roofer to work with, as well as the fastest. My neighbors and I are very happy with the work Mike and his team did. We went from panicking about El Nino to feeling secure. I highly recommend Mike and Protection Roofing.

Mike and his crews are the best I've never seen before. He knew what he should do and explained all why they should do it. No one explains why they should do it and why they charged that amount of money. Therefore, I was really apperciated for explaining all. In addition, the price was GREAT because it was a way cheaper than I expected. Thats why I post on 5 stars for MIKE and CREWS.
Thank. MIKE.

Protection Roofing did an amazing job re-roofing our building. Mike is extremely knowledgable and dedicated to doing the best possible job at very reasonable prices.

Mike and his crew came and took a look at my roof (Daly City area) while I was at work with my permission. Sent a fair quote to fix everything I needed to ensure I'm ready for the next rain.
Once I confirmed for the job, he came earlier to fix my leak (b/c rain was coming back the next day) even though he was not free until next week.
He knew exactly what to fix. Highly recommended!

After this bad storm, we found that the ceiling is leaking.
One of my friends got the roof done recently, I asked him, he strongly recommend Mike.
Mike came by to estimate, he is really sincere and reliable.
He knows everything, and now I don't need to worry about the roof till next century. :)
Thanks, Mike!
