Originally from sunny California, I chose to move to Houston, Texas in 2012. I arrived in Texas with the goal of establishing a roofing company and a strong bond with the community. In 2013, I started the journey of creating Prodigy Roofing & Construction.
Prodigy Roofing & Construction came into existence in June 2013. I envisioned a company that could meet all roofing needs for Houston, Texas (and surrounding areas). My aim is to ensure high-quality work paired with enthusiastic service and transparent pricing.

Avoid. They were shilled pretty in 2022/2023 on the West U Facebook group. Thinking back they might have been good at one point or their friends were just shilling them at the time.
They replaced our roof in March 2023. We had some maintenance done on our water heaters earlier this year and found out the venting to the roof was not done correctly by the roofers.
I tried reaching out to Prodigy multiple times. Their phone number just goes to a generic answering service and no one calls back. They also do not reply to emails.
Others on the Facebook group have similar experiences when trying to get in contact with them.

Our roof was replaced in September 2021. In November 2022 there was a huge pouring of water from the ceiling after a heavy rain shower, and continued to happen with a heavy shower.
Since 26th November, the company has been contacted through the owner and the office, to investigate the problem with the leak. Finally we reached out to Better Business Bureau. This company has not responded to any attempts to get them to stand behind the warranty, which is clearly not worth the paper it's printed on. So beware, if anything is not done right, this Company is unreliable to stand behind their work.

Akhil did a great job earning my business, communicating what to expect throughout the process, working with my finances, and I am so very pleased with the new roof. It was important to me to choose a GAF certified master elite contractor but without paying an inflated price - Prodigy was exactly that for us. Highly recommend.

I used Prodigy Roofing to replace and paint all my fascia and soffits, remove old roofing, install a new roof and add 6"" guttering. Each job was done on time and professionally and Akhil was great to work with. He was understanding and patient with all my questions and request and when I gave him the green light to start, his crews jumped right in. I highly recommend Prodigy Roofing and Akhil to to provide you roofing services.

I am amazed what an incredible job they did on our home. We put the black shingles on our light yellow sided home and it looks awesome. Several complimented us and also on the color. It looks a dark gray when it is on, and goes with our home. They put it up and cleaned up by 3:00 in the afternoon. I mean THEY CLEANED UP! We did pick up 3 nails from the driveway, so be a little careful, but could not recommend them more highly. Also State Farm covered the wind damage except the deductible.

In 6/2018 Prodigy Roofing installed a complete TechShield deck and a CertainTeed Roofing system on my house. I paid an additional $1500 to shore up all rotten rafters. The very water damaged deteriorated rafter on one side of the garage was not replaced and the nails in the decking do not touch the rafter, which leaves the decking unattached to the rafter. On the other side of the garage the same rafter had rotted off and probably the remaining rafter was removed with the old decking. It was not replaced. The new roof was left to hang down several inches where the rotted off rafter had been and therefore the roof was not attached to a rafter. Akhil pushed up on the roof from the inside of my bedroom, where the ceiling had fallen in from Harvey's rains. Because the roof was not attached to anything, the roof actually moved up and down when Akhil pushed up on it. I pointed out to him that the rafter was missing and was told that my contract had nothing in it about replacing a missing rafter, only shoring up rotted off rafters. He refused to open the roof to add the rafter. In 11/2018, because the roof was so slanted and unsafe for anyone to stand on in that area of the roof, I paid another roofer to add the rafter for an additional $750. Akhil needs to refund my money, because 4 roofers who saw the roof for estimates said it was obvious that a rafter was missing and the decking was not supported. As a professional roofer, why didn't Prodigy Roofing address the missing rafter before installing the decking? Why create an unsafe roof on my house, just because the contract did not specifically address a missing rafter. I would not recommend Prodigy Roofing to anyone that has decking and rafter problems. They don't have the expertise for that.

Update 6/5/18:
After posting this review on 5/16 Akhil reached out to me promptly the next morning and apologized for his lack of attention to the matter. He then coordinated for the Gutter subcontractor who did the job to come back out and correct the discrepancies. Also, Initiated the warranty switch which has been completed. The gutter subcontractor did miss the first appointment that was scheduled, for which I have no idea why. Anyhow, they came out this morning and were professional and got the job done.
5/16:
Prodigy Roofing installed the roof and gutters 3 years ago on my now home. During my home inspection it revealed that some parts of the roofing/gutters were not installed up to code. As I believe workmanship should be apart of a standard warranty, I reached out to the company to obtain a copy of the warranty and was literally yelled at over the phone and told that I am not their customer and to not bother him with these problems because he ""a roofer"" didn't even know what diverter flashings are. He said things like ""who do you think you are?"" ""You are not our customer"" ""you don't know what you are talking about"" and so on and so forth. From my understanding roofing warranties are to stay with the home, not the owners. As a courtesy, I had the previous owners send a email to solidify the transfer. I received no response. I sent follow up emails and also called. No response. Keep in mind this is such a simple issue that is an easy fix and they refuse to address it. I am only trying to get a copy of MY warranty and get them to install the diverter flashings as code requires, and to also fix the direction of gutter piping as they installed a bridge in the upward direction which doesn't allow water to flow out of the gutter.
I'd also like to note that my communication was with the owner, Akhil Bharadwaj, and he is the one who was 100% unprofessional on the phone. I cannot believe someone who acts with such disrespect is even allowed to interact with clients.
All in all, Very unprofessional company in my little experience with them and from what I see they do not take pride in their work and also have very little respect for customers.
I have no problem amending this review pending the address of the discrepancies noted and will update if any other communication is received.

I recently had Prodigy replace my flat roof. They arrived on time and were very professional. Akhil, the owner was very tuned into wanting me customers to be satisfied. They listened to me when I made a couple of suggesstions. The site was cleaned and looked as though no one was ever there.

Staff is very professional and well versed in the insurance process. They helped get my roof replaced through my insurance company, would highly recommend them if you're in need of an awesome roof.
