Much like another one of the bad reviews on this business we called to have them work on a project for a customer of ours and they were not responsive in any way and it took me several weeks to get someone to call us back. We made them aware that this is our customer and that we manage the projects for this property at which time they agreed. Come to find out they go out to the homeowner and actively try to cut us out of our own customers project that we refer to them. Both Craig and Zack the second person from the company that worked on the project actively try to snake projects and cut the person that called about the project out. Their reviews speak for themselves and I am glad I will not be working with them as I feel they are unethical and poor businessmen. Buyer Beware if this is how a company needs to steal business they must be starving for new clients.

We had several come out to give estimates on a roof replacement. (many were alot less $) I wanted a metal roof and my husband wanted the shingles.
The rep blew us off the day of appointment and then he apologized and said he ""forgot"" about the appointment, That should have been my first clue. They quoted a price already higher than any of the others, but my husband liked the rep... my second mistake. He said he was putting down 2 pieces of wood and that we may or may not need more and that would be $60 each if we did, seemed to me since he walked the roof he should have been accurate or even close...he wasn't We only had one leak in the house.
I went to sign the contract and he said only my husbands signature was needed (I own the house). They said they 3 weeks out and to call the following week to get an appt. Low and behold the scheduler said they could get us in right away...sounds like they only want you to ""think"" they are busy.
They came yesterday and I had to leave for a bit...when I came back the roof was off and they had plywood all over the place and an inspector told my husband we need 14 more pieces....at $60 each....I was informed that the average is $45 each....my husband was led to believe that the inspector was from the city...this is not true....just their guys adding to the total...
.I am livid because now this negated the ""discount"" they gave us from the Mint magazine (i'll be contacting them next).
And we are totally over budget on this roof.....My husband and I have been fighting about this and he is now hands off anything to do with this house....I don't think the roof looks like I expected, especially the ridge ...still waiting to hear from the building inspector...and then I might be writing even more......Building inspector came....said the average home our size usually needs about 6 sheets of plywood....big difference from the two ( they used 14) he led us to believe most only needed. Make sure you put everything and limitations on any contract you do with them. Had he been honest upfront or least closer to the true cost I would""ve gone with someone else...now I''wait to see how long it takes to get the warranty...a few here said it took Months to get it...I'll be calling them after 2 weeks....all in all I feel they took advantage of a couple of seniors. The house was built in 98

I had gutters installed in July of this year(2019) and they have had to come out 4 times now to fix the leaks, they sent the same guy out all 4 times. The last time they came out I was told if they still leaked to buy some Flex Seal and spray on it that should work. You would think if they cared they would follow up on customer satisfaction. The glue they used is still not cursed/dry and is as wet as they day they put it on and I did call them and was told it should curse/dry soon, it's been 3 months now still not cured/dry. Sloppy work, glue in the roof not cleaned off, extra parts dropped in the garden and pool, I could go on. It has been far from a professional experience.

Super thorough salesman. He stayed in touch and followed up after the project was complete. There was no damage to my yard or plants. The roofers cleaned up meticulously. Super nice guys did the eave replacement and painting. My new roof looks fabulous. I love the material and color. I feel like I got a great value for my money.

Horrible. Bully behavior and poor workmanship. I would never deal with this company again. Workers were left for hours with no supplies...supervisors didnt show up when they said or call...i had to text them. Just horrible.

I am a Realtor and usually only recommend those businesses that do a great job and are responsive to their customers. This was chosen by the seller and this company failed in both respects. The roof repair work they did for the seller would not warrant it for 1 year because the warranty was not transferable!! To me that means they probably did a crappy job! When I called to inquire why they would not do this, even for a fee, I was dismissed.

The Good
We chose Preferred Roofing to re-roof our home because they were the only one among so many roofing companies I called and met that was transparent about their certifications, referrals, warranty, etc. Kevin Strickland was the GC who was assigned to us and couldn't have asked for a better one. He oversaw the project from start to finish. Very helpful, professional and knowledgeable. He even helped us deal with the insurance company and many other things that were beyond the scope of his job. The roofers were respectful to us and our property, the removal was fast and the clean-up was quick. Our roof looks good and passed the city inspections.
The Bad
The administrative side. It took so long to get the paper works that was supposed to be mailed to us but ended up just emailing the invoice, wind mitigation, etc., after so many back and forth via email and phone. I finally got the GAF warranty in the mail this week after completing the work in December. The only consolation was the VPs email to us apologizing for the delay. That was a nice gesture.
Verdict
Overall, I will still recommend them just because of the quality of work they did on my roof. I would have given them a perfect 5-stars if not for the paper work delays and follow-ups. I will definitely request for Kevin, though.

Purchased a new home in 2017 with a new roof (GAF) installed by Preferred Roofing in 2016. Roof is leaking where shingles butt up to the upper part of the home and has caused extensive damage below. Owner of Preferred Roofing would not honor transferable warranty.
We called several roofers for estimates and all told us the leaks were due to poor workmanship - not hurricane damage...
We had to rip up the front roof and replace plywood, flashing, and siding. We also had to have someone to repair inside ceiling and Sheetrock and paint the outside where siding replaced. This all has been very expensive!
We were left with the impression that Preferred Roofing does not stand behind their product or workmanship!

I can see why the ratings for these guys is poor and why they have to advertise in the Mint. I scheduled a roofing estimate then had changed the reservation from Tuesday to Friday. On Tuesday of the original appointment, Mike called me and said he wanted to change from 2 to 5 pm; then I told Mike I had changed the appointment from Tuesday to Friday already. Then, in Friday of the appointment, my family and I were waiting on Mike at 2. I texted him as to when he would arrive then I get a call from the office that he needs to reschedule. When I asked why, they didn't have a reason. I don't recommend these guys. If you can keep a simple appointment then I don't trust you to do my roof.

The customer service is below acceptable. When I initially signed up for roofing service the representative assured me they worked closely with the insurance company and I would NOT have to do anything because they handled all the leg work. Great...a complete lie! About 3 weeks after the roof was completed I received a call from my insurance company for status on the claim. I explained the roof was complete but still waiting for the gutters to be installed but preferred roofing would be sending all needed documents. Insurance Rep. stated as of the date nothing was sent over. I contacted preferred roofing and they said they would email me the detailed bill and it was easier if I forwarded the documents myself. Baffled because that was not what I was initially told, still I accepted the task and sent over the documents. The insurance company mailed a check which had to be endorsed by the mortgage company (payment was sent in 2 separate checks). 80% of balance was paid to preferred roofing with the first check. Representative from preferred called to find out about remaining balance. I again contacted insurance company for the remaining balance they explained they needed a final bill and certificate, obtained additional documents via email and submitted. 2nd check received and forwarded to mortgage company for endorsement. Approximately 2-3 weeks after they sent the final documents a person named Mark calls for update, advised that I'm still waiting on final check he got loud and rude by talking over me and proceeds to tell me he is forcing a lien on my property. My hands are tied, I offered to place it on a credit card if they'd waive the 4% fee otherwise we will need to wait for the final payment. He refused and as he hung up said I'm placing a lien on your property. I have been harassed and bullied throughout this payment process, where initially they lied and said they would work with the insurance companies. Unfortunately, I can't control the mortgage company nor the mail process. If you choose this company asked to be placed on payroll and beware....they over promise and under deliver!
