We moved to League City about four years ago into an older home. We have two units (upstairs and downstairs). Our downstairs unit was about 5 years old at the time but our upstairs was original to the home (close to 20 yrs. old). We had a problem and called the home warranty company who sent Preferred Air. We had a couple of other issues come up along with some warranty-covered maintenance and the HW folks sent other contractors. Within the first 18 months we knew that Preferred Air was our PREFERRED contractor!
The technicians are always friendly, clean, and knowledgeable. They take the time to listen to our concerns and answer questions even about basic things. They make recommendations with options to suit our budget and goals for our home. Kyle and Nick have really been helpful in that respect. We eventually replaced that old A/C unit and Nick and the crew were awesome. They rolled out the floor protection and my cat thought it was for her - they were all sweet to her and just walked around her! My husband asked about a plumbing issue we had and Nick sent the plumb crew out the next day to take a look and fix it for us.
Best story - Sunday afternoon I realize the air out of the vent is warm! I finally get in touch with the warranty company who tells me that if the forecast is less than 100 degrees I have to wait til Monday for service. My husband calls Preferred directly and they are happy to come out but of course the service call will be a bit more. My husband calls the warranty people and tells them we want to use Preferred again so the claim is set up accordingly. That was at 1:30. By 2:09 Nick had been to the house, fixed the problem with the outside, newer unit (luckily he had the part in his van), and was gone. Never asked for a dime. I thought I was going to hug him goodbye!
It's not all roses - I didn't care for the guy who came out to do our last service; I felt like he was in and out too quickly and perhaps should have caught the issue that caused the breakdown on Sunday. Overall, they have been responsive, caring, efficient, and budget-friendly and we highly recommend them for any A/C or plumbing needs!

Hi my name is Gilbert Perez. I called Preferred Air & Plumbing of Houston. We scheduled a time for them to come out. The day came for them to come out. They were on time. We went up to look at the system.
I was looking to replace my whole system. He took pictures we talked and he said they would send me a quote. This was on April 17TH. A week went by i did not hear from them. The entire crew is awesome. David came out shortly after speaking with Anthony. David did an excellent job of explaining our problem with AC and the options. Xavier also helped us understand so we was able to make an educated decision. One of the best decisions we have made. The crew was there early the next morning and displayed ultimate respect for our home by wearing shoe covers and covering the floors. Joey kept close communication with me and even set up my wi fi thermostat.
I'm so happy to do business with a company with high standards and reputable. I will be a walking advertisement for Preferred Air of Houston!

Would recommend to everyone, if you're thinking about shopping around you won't get the quality and prices Preferred offers.

They are definitely out of my list for AC services.
Their representatives on the phone calls are definitely nice, but the technician named Jose who was dispatched to our house was absolutely not qualified/recommended.
Our rental home got water leak from the ceiling and finally figured out it was from the AC unit in the attic. So I filed a claim with Oneguard Home Warranty company, who contracted Preferred Air for the service repair call.
I specifically told the guy from the Preferred Air on the phone who was doing the scheduling to have the technician contact me 30 minutes before his arrival and if any services or repairs needed/recommended that might cost extra out of the home warranty coverage, please notify me.
Jose was the technician assigned to our house, but he called more than an hour before his arrival and asked me if I was home, I told him the tenant was home waiting already, please go as early as you can. He said he needed to finish his currently job first, which might need another hour. And then he called me 2nd time about 10 minutes before his arrival asking if I was there. I told him again the tenant was already waiting when he called the first time.
About 2 hours after Jose's arrival while I was wondering how thing was going, my tenant texted me and asked me if I heard from the AC technician and any pictures from text or email. I said NO and called Jose right away but Jose already left the house without fixing anything. Water was still leaking through the ceiling. This was an emergency to me, but Jose from Preferred Air came and left without doing anything to at least stop the water leak as a minimum??!!! Or at least call me before he left to check if I would like to pay him for water leak/AC repair.
The reason Jose gave me was that this was a maintenance issue that the coils were too dirty and drain line probably got clogged due to the dirt from the coils. Since this is not a repair and Home Warranty does not cover, he just left without touching it. When I asked him how much it would cost to clean the coils, he quoted me $650, but it has to come from the office. And then the next day I called his office to give me a quote. The lady on the phone told me she had to check with Jose first and then I got an email quote at $850.
Today I spent $250 with another AC company to do the coils and drainage cleaning for almost 3 hours job. I am very happy I didn't contract Preferred Air for this repair, and will NEVER hire them for any jobs in future.

I had the owner come out and give me a quote on replacing my ac unit . He said he would get back to me with an estimate and I also requested to try and have some plumbing work too. I never heard back from him I even called and left messages and my number twice.
I ran into him Xavier ""the owner"" at a local Home Depot just by coincidence and he stop me and asked like maybe he sent it to the wrong email or something. I gave him my business card just so there would be no issues and it's already been a couple weeks since that happened and he has still not got back to me . Do not trust a company with your home that you can't even trust to call you back.

Kyle C. was awesome, I appreciated his transparency and explanation of the unit issues. He was able to help me understand the impacts of some prior work that was done by another company and gave me great guidance on what to expect. Definitely a positive experience in a situation (A/C issues in a Houston summer) that's usually less than pleasant.

They lied to my home warranty company about location of my water heater - jacking the price up $805. Of course, I knew something was not right, and didn't fall for it. Crooks, is all I can say!!

Have been waiting 6 months for my new ac and heat unit to be fixed properly. American standard recommended unit be changed from vertical to horizontal position and larger plenum be installed. Paid good money for unit and cannot get any kind of response or resolution. Very frustrating.

Xavier and his team are the best. Great customer service on site and in the office. Diagnosed and fixed the problem in a timely manner. It was a little difficult to diagnose at first and ended up being a relatively easy fix. Probably could have ended up being more costly if not for the honesty and expertise of Xavier. They will be the only ones I go to for repairs and general maintenance.
