Recommended Customer Reviews
I have to share this review because of the EXCELLENT pricing, response, turnaround and service that i just received with Phillips. A friend recommended them to me as she had used them for her son in Hearst, TX. I had already contacted another painter (Southern) who never submitted an estimate nor returned my calls. My free estimate was addressed within two days of my request. The written estimate was given ON SITE THAT SAME DAY. The prices for exterior painting, all house lanterns, porte gate and railings, and three interior jobs were INCREDIBLE. WE said yes immediately. Shannette was able to book us within a week and exactly the days we requested. Everyone showed up EXACTLY when expected and worked a longer first day than anticipated. They did not balk when I wasn't crazy about an interior wall color, just immediately addressed it to make it right the very next day. The crew was very professional and respectful. Jose and Walter were first rate and everything was done BEAUTIFULLY. Clean up was hardly even needed because their prep work and plastic and trim work were exceptional. I would not hesitate for a minute to use Phillips again, specifically Shannette (and Jose and Walter!). We're already thinking of other walls and rooms to complete!! I can't say enough about how seamless and painless this process was from start to finish. Professionals all the way. THANK YOU for such beautiful and timely work!!!
Brandie P.I apologize for the length of this comment, but I'm describing (not in its entirety do to this being written communication) a job that should have taken four days, five at the most, yet I'm sitting here 12 days shy of four months!! Yes, months!!
I am only giving Phillip's one star because I need to enter at least one to place a comment. Truthfully, I would prefer at least a negative five stars.
Interior paint job of seven rooms, my entire home is 1,711 Sq ft. Job started on 11/14/16 and advised would be done by 11/18/16, at the worst 11/19/16. As of today, 3/2/17, yes 2017 (just shy of four months) it is completed. Which honestly i had to beg and plead to finish the job, which BTW was incredibly expensive. I wouldnt have minded the cost, but this horrific scenario occured abd now i KNOW its not worth the cost even slightly!!
I can't count the number of times the painters had to return in spite of my feedback of what needed to be corrected. Just two, of MANY, examples of blatant painting not completed was near two light fixtures in my kichen/dining area, one of which the painters had to return as they left without my knowledge and the correction hadn't been completed. This was not the first time the painters left during one of the MANY times they we sent back out for corrections. I am being honest when I say I literally can no longer count the times they were resent back out for correction, BTW I do have a full-time, stressful job I needed to walk away from while this nonsense occurred. I did mention this to my sales representative and the response was, ""Oh that is just so and so, she does that a lot"", no accountability (which turned out NO ONE at Phillip's is held to any accountability. Literally the time this had taken to get it right, even with just the painters, this turned into a part-time job for me!!
We had paid them in full late November because I was drinking the Phillips Kool-Aid....they are good at schmoozing!! Which to this day.i regret. I bet if we didn't comply with our portion of the contract, it would have motivated to finish the job timely.
Honesty, the worst part was the crown. I was advised this is ""the best crown guy they have"". It was a JOKE!! He arrived day two of the start date and didn't come back until at least six weeks later.
The revision of the crown in the living room and master was hideous (i have photos if anyone care to see them, it's embarrassing), especially in the master!! I called, text and emailed and for a large period of time no one responded to me. I ended up obtaining the owner, Jason Phillips, email to which I advised what was going on, he put me in contact with his ""right hand man"", which continued to be a joke.
I promise this company is all smoke and mirrors. BTW, if your not familiar, Jason participated in a blue collar millionaire interview I believe just over a month ago, which I truly believe is great for him and all small business owners honestly! However, what expense to his customers is there to have gotten to that point? I did email him once to which he replied. The second email I sent in which he was carbon copied on, nothing!!
This is literally the WORST home improvement company I have ever worked with in my life. I have SO much more to share, but the length of this is already excessive.
However, if you choose to go with this company be sure you do not complete your end of the contract until Phillip's has! Otherwise, be prepared this will likely become a part time job in order to coordinate errors, which in my case were plentiful. If not, your job may be nearly four months until completion. This is incredibly stressful to deal with and I'm extatic they are finally out of my life!!
Thank you for your time in reading my comment entirely!
Happy customer!! Phillips Painting just completed painting my home's exterior and it looks great! A friend referred them to me (she had a roof replaced by them). From my first call to get a quote, to the representative who came out to provide an estimate, to the painters who actually performed the painting and to the follow up I received to ensure I was completely satisfied, my entire experience was easy, stress-free, professional and quality. I will definitely have Phillips back again. I am looking forward to having my home interior painted. HIGHLY RECOMMEND-impressed all the way around.
Derek T.Consistent with the majority of these reviews, my experience with this company was awful. These guys are not very good at project management, communication, or customer service. They could really not care less about your specific job and they will not hesitate to demonstrate that at every turn. I needed less than 120 feet of gutters put up without any removal of existing gutters. A 1 hour job. They made me wait three weeks to get the initial estimate and then cancelled an hour before. Returned the next week and left a quote and when I accepted the bid, they told me the job would be scheduled in 5 weeks. 6 weeks passed and when I called my sales rep he told me that he forgot to ask me what color gutter I wanted. Not sure why he wouldn't assume that I would want it to be the same color as the other 1200 feet of gutter but whatever. This was the first example of several in which he would make it clear that I nor my home were of any importance to him.
I picked the color and waited another 5 weeks before calling them back and getting the runaround about ""truck breakdowns"" and ""unexpected weather"" and ""issues"" at other jobs that caused a delay for the start of my project. He promised me that my project would be completed the following week. Contacted his office on Thursday when nobody had showed up all week and they ensured me someone would be out the following day. Of course, nobody showed up the next day either. And of course, nobody called to tell me anything. I texted my sales rep on Friday to see what the deal was and he unsurprisingly simply ignored my text. We had been texting back and forth throughout this process so it's not like it was an unexpected communication medium. I also called but didn't bother to leave a message as this company does not care to try to keep your business.
The job at my place should take a crew less than 1 hour and if they are unable to manage this small project, I would be terrified at the work they would do for a larger project. They had three months to complete a 1 hour project at my home but were too incompetent to figure it out. I eventually called and cancelled the project before it began so I FORTUNATELY cannot speak to their work product but I wouldn't be surprised if it was as sloppy as their customer service.
Pick ANYONE else.
STAY AWAY FROM PHILLIPS PAINTING!!!
They were to paint the exterior of my home and replace gutters. What a nightmare!!!!
I had hired them in the past with no problems, but this time it was nothing but problems. I figure that with all the meetings I had to have with upper management regarding the totally unprofessional job, I would have had to take off 9 days from work. Can you imagine almost your whole vacation schedule gone because this painting company got caulk, paint, and chemicals everywhere it wasn't supposed to go.
I will have to have items replaced due to damage and somethings that were damaged can't be replaced because it's an antique.
It wasn't just the issues with caulk being everywhere that they touched, but also the fact that wood work that was supposed to be replaced was not. The subcontracted painters tried to scam both Phillips and me by claiming they replaced full pieces of rotten trim. Instead they used putty and painted over the rotten portions. Since the work was on the second story of my home I'm sure they felt that they would get away with it. The problem was the new paint started to chip less than one week after it was done. That's when I noticed that it looked odd. The insulting part was once noticed I was told by upper management that they wouldn't fix it until I paid my bill in full. They claim the work is under warranty. Yes but with their clauses.
This terrible experience took 8 week from start to end. And I still will have to take off more time to have a different company come out and fix the item that was broken. The number of things that happened are too long to list. But I can tell you that this was more than $7000 worth of work and Phillips didn't even offer me $.10 off for all the trouble and inconvenience over the 8 weeks. The painters treated my home disrespectfully and upper management treated me disrespectfully by the simple fact that they made this a terrible experience. I was also treated as if I was being ridiculous by wanting the paint that they dropped all over my deck cleaned, or the caulk cleaned off of all the places it wasn't supposed to be on. Additionally, they didn't care that although they claim they will cover your pool and furniture they only did for one day. There were nails, rotten wood, chunks of old paint and more all over the place on the deck and in the pool. I have dogs that were picking this stuff up. The subcontracted painters didn't care. They even left a cigarette butt on my patio where they put it out on for my dogs to pick up.
The gutters was a whole subject of more issues. If you can believe that this company didn't see anything wrong with taking the old gutters off, throwing them in my back yard and leaving them until the new ones would be installed. The problem is that they had no idea if that would be 2 weeks or 8 weeks. They just were going to be left as trash in my grass to be mowed around. They didn't find that unacceptable. And they would only say they were behind getting gutters in and had no idea when. I wasn't even told they were behind until AFTER the contract was signed.
So, if you want your house painted NOT by the cheapest quote, your house disrespected and damaged, and have to put up with disrespectful higher ups that report directly to Mr Phillips-this is the company to use. Remember you will pay not only with your money, but also your time. You have to be home so they can have the house open to paint exterior doors. (The sales rep didn't even know this and I wasn't told until the doors were ready to be painted) Plus make follow up after follow up in phone calls to see when they will finish, or fix the work done. I was threatened at one point that I could complain about the work or have the work finished. This was said after I was asked a question by management. This higher up actually was serious. He was upset that I would complain or use the word scam. I'm not sure what else to call accepting money for work that was misrepresented, wasn't replaced for new but charged me for new. Covering rotten wood with putty to make it look like good wood, then painting over that to pass it off as new wood work is a scam.
Phillips did correct it. But it took weeks to get that done and they already had ALL my money.
The worst experience ever!!!
David D.Per previous review...we had another job done. This time interior painting. Unfortunately it didn't go as well as the gutters.
Scheduled to start a particular day. Crew didn't show up. Called up to see what's what. Stated didn't have a crew large enough for the job. A call would have been in order.
Scheduled for the next week. They hired 1 guy who brought 1 guy with him. Which begs the question, what happened the week prior? We'll never know.
Work was completed 2 days beyond quote. The crew did a fine job and work full days to try to stay on schedule. Phillips was calling on day 4 for them to hurry and move on to the next job. I was told after the fact that the order was for 5.5 days...no one told me. We planned for 4. Much like the above...we'll never know.
Some areas weren't completed as expected, stains are still prevalent. After 6 days of being under plastic and dirt and dust, I told them not to come out and fix...ill do it.
Furniture was moved by crew but we had to move it back. Documentation clearly states with every job furniture is moved and replaced. If we didn't do it, the job would have went 7 days.
There were other items i took issue with as well, but wont go into.
The work done was fine for the most part and we are happy.
I did negotiate a small reduction in cost. However, one thing to note...you will pay premium. $6100 to Phillips. The crew received $2043 Phillips supposedly paid for materials and supplies less than $500, plastic was likely the biggest expense.
What they pay the crew is their business...but 3500 in profit seems like they made out like bandits. Take note when contracting
We had an excellent experience with Ryan at Phillips Roofing! Great customer service! We will be using them again!
We had a complete gutter system installed on our house this spring and couldn't be happier. They came out for the estimate when they said they would, showed up to do the work when they said they would, and the work they did was exactly what they said they would. They were able to match the gutters to the color of our house as well. Not all contractors treat your house as if it was their own, but Phillips did. I've been recommending them to everyone I know who needs gutters.
Experience began with sales which was done professionally and without pressure. She was perfect. All work (carpentry, caulking, painting, gutters) far exceeded my expectations on cost, quality, and customer service. I would hire them again without hesitation.
Nick Y.We narrowed the search for painters to three companies. Phillips submitted a competitive estimate and scheduled us for 2 weeks later to paint the entire exterior. The project manager was timely in his communications and visits to the home (color selections, etc.). The painters arrived on a Monday and spent the entire day caulking and sealing. They do NOT spot caulk. Our house looked like a gingerbread house at the end of the day because every seam on the exterior was totally caulked. This may seem like a small thing, but it's actually more important than the paint. Paint is primarily for visual appeal, but caulking where water will seep and erode/mildew/rot is far more important. Tuesday we had high winds, but the painter drove from McKinney (his home) to let me know spraying would be a disaster that day...and he was/is right. We had high winds on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday they returned and did the painting. While the job was protracted, it was done right and I didn't want our windows, patio, neighbor's cars, etc., painted, So they did the right things, in a timely manner for a competitive price. I would use them again. Rodrigo was our chief painter. He speaks good English and communicates well. I would hire them again.
