I called Perry Roofing for a repair on peak/ridge overlap shingles that would blow off during hurricanes/high wind. Apparently, they are a bait and switch, saying that my 14 year old dimensional roof needed to be replaced. None of the other 3 roofing companies that walked the roof to quote the repair said that. The other 3 companies agreed that only a repair was needed.. that the roof was good. Roofing companies are there to make money honestly.. NOT DISHONESTLY!! Beware!!

DO NOT HIRE! Perry roofing was supposed to replace my roof, but severely damaged it in the process, forcing me to hire another company to clean up their mess.

Perry roofing was hired in late February early March of 2003 to replace the roof at my residence in Alachua, Florida.
The crew of workers finally showed up one month after I contracted with Perry, I was expecting to see a professional group of Perry employees, the crew that showed up was a group of what I would call contracted employees that didn't really work for Perry, at least they didn't have Perry Roofing trucks. These people had a broken down truck and a beat-up trailer that had one flat tire, these folks were extremely unprofessional.

Before work started I asked the manager of residential repairs not to let his crew drive on my lawn as the ground was soft and it would leave ruts, I got home from work and I couldn't believe what I saw, they had driven all over my yard and actually parked their trailer on the side of my home opposite the driveway. That same evening I picked up debris that was scattered all over my property.

Perry's contract indicated they would remove debris daily and clean up the job site. the manager said he would take care of the situation and ensured me that debris would be picked up daily. The next day I was again out picking up debris, after I did this for about three more days I reported this to the manager again.

During the roofing process I noticed that when Perry Roofing was putting down the ""felt"" which goes under the shingles it was just a mess, it looked kind of like a patchwork quilt you might say, it was though they used scraps. I noticed on all of the other homes in the neighborhood felt was put down in rows and a uniform manor. In a later conversation that I had with the owner Keith Perry later he told me that ""felt doesn't matter it doesn't do anything anyway"". Based on Keith Perry's comment I'm not exactly sure why felt gets put down on roofs, I guess just to keep felt manufacturers in business although I suspect its so roofs don't leak if water blows under shingles during strong events such as hurricanes and blowing rainstorms.

when Perry finally completed the work there were and numerous shingles that had tears and sections missing as well as hundreds of nails sticking up, Perry also bent and damaged some gutters and inappropriately installed a roof vent that was bent when it was received at the site. Perry Roofing never inspected the roof for quality.

Perry Roofing was out to correct issues no less than three times before they finally corrected all items in a condition satisfactory enough that I felt comfortable enough to pay Perry Roofing. Before they finished the work Mr. Perry called me and in a threatening manner, advised me that he was going to have to put a lean against my home, which he later did. The last time Perry workers came out to complete the punch list items they did not have the appropriate tools to re-attach a kitchen vent that they removed, the Perry employee insured me that he would come out with the proper equipment and re-attach the vent at a future time, to this day it has not been fixed. (this is 10 years later and it is still not fixed)
In late April, early May of 1994 I called Perry Roofing and reported a leak (for the record there was no hurricane at the time) to. Perry Roofing sent a representative out, and he indicated he couldn't find a leak, but we should call Perry Roofing back if it happens again. In August that same year, during a storm (again not a hurricane) the roof leaked again, Perry again sent a man out this time they sealed my chimney and attempted some other repairs.

September 2004 the roof leaked again, this is when I once again called Perry Roofing, I left several messages with the receptionist. I finally got in touch with Keith Perry, Mr. Perry abruptly said that they were too busy with the hurricane and would get there when they could and they weren't worried about my roof. After approximately a month I contacted Perry Roofing again. they did not call me back, they sent someone out and said they couldn't find the leak thought my ceiling was at this point stained with the water from the roof that leaked.

Perry roofing came out three times and could not fix the leak, it has leaked as late as 2/1/11, on 1/6/13 they are coming out again. (taking Perry to small claims to repair ceiling at this point)

Had a brand new roof put on 6 years ago and it is already leaking. The company I used went out of business so I tried Perry Roofing. Kurt came out and told me what I needed. He was very professional and knows what he is doing. The work they did was top quality and price was fair. The only reason they are not getting 5 stars is that they did not call to say when they were coming and sent the bill before repairs were complete. Once I called they quickly made it right. I would not hesitate to use them again.
