Perkins Preferred Roofing and Construction
Company Overview
Matthew and Shannon valued their time as independent field adjusters, but they soon felt exasperated with the insurance claims process. It was discouraging to turn down a homeowner's valid claim because of the judgment of someone based in another state, and they decided to assist clients in obtaining the reimbursement they deserved for damage to their properties.
With a foundation in construction and adjusting, it was a given that they founded Perkins Preferred Roofing & Construction. They built the company with the goal to infuse honesty and devotion to the Houston roofing sector, their clients, and their employees.

Had a leaking portion of my roof redone, and they seemed to get it addressed. Owner is punctual and very accommodating. We did have a little mix up, but he was great to work with through the confusion.

Had my roof put on couple months ago, looks great, we had NO leaks before roof was 20 years old, 1st rain comes hear water dripping inside our fireplace, called Perkins took over 2 moths for them to come back. They said it had to be leaking before and would charge to repair, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!

Read a review from James D. saying he was promised a referral bonus but the owner never paid. The owner then replied making James D look like he was being untruthful.
I had the exact same experience with Perkin's Preferred as James D. I was talking to the owner about a few neighbors and unprovoked he told me there would be a $500 referral bonus if I could help secure their business. Within a week I had referred another neighbor and in both cases the business owner was able to work with their insurance companies and build them new roofs. After a short time I contacted him and asked about the referral bonus. At first he put it off as waiting for payment then later he just ignored my messages.
On another site I posted a negative review and he made similar disparaging remarks about me (like James D) and he stated I tried to extort him out of the money, he said I didn't refer and didn't know my neighbors of 10 years, and said I was out to hurt a small business.
Unfortunately for him I have his text messages showing where he appreciated my help getting the jobs and acknowledging that he would send me the bonuses I'd earned. I'm attaching them here and suggesting anyone thinking about using this company should consider that someone dishonest in one area of business is likely dishonest in others. Buyer Beware!

I was very impressed with Perkins Preferred Roofing. I called about two master bedroom ceiling spots that I thought might be caused by leaks in my tile roof. Matt the owner responded immediately with an offer to come out with his ""tile"" expert, Jose. After Jose thoroughly inspected the roof and found no evidence of leaking, Matt advised me of some other conditions (plumbing leak, a/c issue) that could instead be the culprit. He refused any payment for his and Jose's time, also. I will definitely be going back to Perkins for any future roof issues, as I found Matt to be prompt, professional, and the kind of company that anyone would want to hire.

Did not have a good experience. The owner is very unprofessional and will not take your opinion into account. Suggest going the opposite way if you come across this company.

Sorry this review is long but our experience was terrible from start to finish so I want to make you aware of it! Short story is I would NEVER recommend using this company because they will complete sub-par work, lie about it, and you will end up needing your credit card company to fight on your behalf to get your agreed upon refund.
Long Story: Matthew came over to our house for a ""free estimate"". He wrote an estimate without ever getting on the roof or in the attic to assess the actual scope of work needed (just looked from the backyard). He quoted us $475 for the repair of the roof and $225 for replacing the siding. He told us replacing the siding was optional and the repair could be done without it. For that reason, we authorized only the repair of the roof because having replaced siding ourselves we knew that board only cost $10.12 from Home Depot, we already had the correct paint, and the skill required to replace a siding board is very low (again we have done so ourselves a couple times) so $225 seemed like an outrageous price to pay for that work.
The day of the repair, the leader of the crew immediately went in the attic and got on the roof to look at the real scope of work (took less than 10 minutes). He said that he could not do the work without replacing the siding piece. He knew it immediately and told us before starting the work. I told him I did not want him to start any work until I could get in contact with Matthew and determine a price because I would have canceled the work entirely and shopped around for a different company if they were going to charge us $225 for the siding work after telling us in the estimate that it was optional. I told the crew leader multiple times I did not want them to start work until I could get a price. He kept trying to convince me to do it without getting in touch with Matthew and telling me that it was very easy it only adds 15 minutes of work but I never agreed without speaking to Matthew. It took a little while to call us back because he was in a meeting. He eventually agreed to do the siding work for $65 if we painted it ourselves. He made absolutely NO indication that the work would not be top quality at this time.
After the repair was finished we paid the full price of the repair. On the weekend we got out ladder and got on the roof to paint the siding pieces that we replaced. What we found was that they used a completely different sized siding that looked NOTHING like our original siding and looked terrible on our house. I was extremely disappointed that a professional would do work like this (see picture). We called to try to get the company to either refund this or return to fix the work.
This is when the most disappointing part of our experience with the company occurred. Matthew lied on multiple occasions on the phone to my husband to try to defend the lack of quality work performed. First, he claimed that the crew had already started on the work and that they discovered removing the siding was required during the job. This was completely untrue. The crew leader told me before work started and I made it VERY clear that I didn't want to start work before I could get a quoted price. Next, he told us he was doing us a favor because the materials alone were more than what he charged us. Not true. We did the work ourselves and it cost us $10.12 for the board an another $8 for caulk and nails. Next, he tried to claim that they informed us it wouldn't look right before the work was done. Completely untrue. I would NEVER approve work on my house that wouldn't look good (especially when I can do it for cheaper myself). Lastly, he tried to claim that they had no other option because since we hadn't planned on doing the siding he had to use what they had on the truck. I don't doubt that they probably did use whatever was just laying around on their truck but if they had done a REAL estimate where they actually looked at the scope of work they would have known it was not optional and I would have either gone and purchased and painted the right siding myself and had it ready for them on work day OR I would have shopped around for another more reasonable company. Again, this fact just reiterates that you will likely not be dealing with a very professional company if you choose them.
After leaving multiple messages back and forth over a week and a half worth of time, we finally got them to agree to refund the $65 so we could do the repair ourselves (if we returned the material they used back to them). After removing their siding and completing the repair ourselves for less than $20, we tried for multiple weeks to get our money refunded from them. We eventually had to have our credit card company cancel the charge and after two months of our credit card company fighting for the return on our behalf, the $65 was refunded. They never came and picked up their materials.

Finding a leak in your roof is never an enjoyable experience. Luckily, I called Perkins Preferred Roofing for my repairs. The process to get my new roof approved through insurance and installed was almost to easy. The customer service I experienced through out the entire process was A++. You can tell Matthew truly cares about the products and services he provides. He also went above and beyond to insure I was completely satisfied with the work completed. I would recommend to anyone needing roof repairs or upgrades within their home. You will not be disappointed.

I purchased a roof sealing package on Angie's List and the person came out very nice and professional initially. He suggested fixing the roof with this $99 package wasn't necessary and he would assist me claiming hail damage from the insurance. Therefore the repair was never executed. It took 4-5 months after which Perkins literally refused to provide an estimate for the hail damage which I needed for the insurance company. At this stage I switched to a company that would actually complete what they say they would do and within two weeks I was set. I asked for a refund for $99 for services not rendered, I got the cold shoulder until I put a poor review on Angie's list. Immediately I was contacted by somebody I believe is the owner ( last name Perkins). He was very arrogant and was not concerned with my issue merely with his image. He refused to admit his company did not follow through and maintained his company was always professional, hinting at that I wasn't and more. Conclusion: if you have any issue you will not get your customer complaint resolved here. They will take your money and run.

My roof was installed great. Was promised that if I brought more roof jobs a referral fee would be paid. Never got the it and my neighbor who was the referral has had leaks and they are not standing by there work. He is paying another contractor to fix the problem. Do not use. They lie to get your business.
