I've had Herb Palmer over several times recently for various problems, and each time it's been 5-stars. I've previously had great difficulty in finding someone to tend to our sensitive concrete tile roof, and Herb has just been brilliant in terms of coming up with solutions, reassuring us and going out of his way to troubleshoot. A genuinely nice guy, super responsive, and I appreciated he was on hand to direct his crew when they had to do some minor works. For several reasons we are enthusiastically recommending ""Herb Palmer Roofing,"" which is based in Cotati and just finished putting a new roof on our home built in 1930 in Monte Rio. First, Herb is a hands-on contractor. He is not an absentee proprietor but one who works side by side with his crew, doing all the ""grunt"" work that a good roofer must do. Second, his experience extends to 50 or more years in the trade, having begun with his dad when he was a boy. Third, his current crew (José, Jonathan, and Carlos) are eager and fearless young men who are able to navigate safely the tight and angled spaces of even a highly sloped roof (12/12 pitch or 45 degrees) such as ours, which many roofers will not address. They emulate Herb's high standards of workmanship and congeniality. Fourth, as an example of how thorough Herb and his crew are, he took the time to make careful ""bevel"" cuts, instead of ""square"" cuts, in the 3 1/2 inch sheathing. Meanwhile, his crew fit the beveled sheathing along the ridge of the roof so tightly that it eliminates any condensation and moisture that would degrade the material below the shingles. Fifth, Herb is the ultimate ""professional,"" his vehicles arriving every morning promptly at 8 a.m. and bringing even a portable restroom. The crew cleans up at the end of the day to allow us the freedom to enjoy the outside area again. His price is very reasonable, and his workmanship meticulous. In addition, he is a problem solver with finishing skills who adapts whenever he finds dry rot or termite damage.

Herb is Great! We really didn't need a new roof on my daughter's house, but the insurance company was requiring it due to ""granulation"". Apparently a number of insurance companies are looking for reasons to get out of the Santa Rosa area - gee really? We got 5 estimates and went with Palmer. Herb and his crew were timely, efficient and responsive. We did have a problem with the clean up on the first day, but a discussion with Herb was all it took and the place was spotless at the end of Day Two! They removed a tube/cap that was no longer in use, patching the hole; they also removed a satellite dish that was no longer needed at no additional charge. Herb was honest (told us we didn't need a new roof for 3 to 5 years), reasonably priced and responsive to our concerns. I would highly recommend this company to anyone!

The previous roof he was replacing was done very poorly so we were happy to have someone who was confident enough about his work that he gave us a fantastic warranty period.
