Years ago, I purchased a home that had the original roof from the mid '80s. With the wind gusts that have accompanied Sacramento winter storms the past five years, I was losing and patching shingles repeatedly. In short, I really needed a new roof.

As a newbie to the process, I contacted three businesses: one I saw randomly working on a property behind mine, one from a good friend's suggestion, and one who had worked on a relative's roof from years back. It initially didn't go well.

One business came in the cheapest, but when I asked for a roofer's license, the person suddenly disappeared. The second business gave me a reasonable quote, but when I asked the cost of the permit, the person said, ""Oh, you want a permit? That's going to cost you extra!"" The third person was the one I saw working on a home behind mine, and it was ultimately who I chose to go with. He had a website, a posted contractor's license, and was clearly established.
That business was Orozco's Roofing in Sacramento.

Long story short, the business's owner, Socimo, was so easy to work with. He and his crew did a great and thorough job replacing my roof, and timed it just before the rains came. His quote was very reasonable, and most importantly, he had his work and guarantee in writing. If there was something minor that needed a bit of adjusting related to my roof, he was more than accommodating.
