I choose NRG Upgrade to replace my aging roof based on price after getting multiple bids from other companies. In discussing the proposed work Asaf the project manager was professional, low key, and realistic about the scope of the work, the work schedule, and the price. He didn't hustle me as others did. He also offered financing. The NRG crew arrived on time each morning, polite and professional, and worked well together. My roof offered challenges due to a steep pitch and varied surfaces, but the crew impressed me with its efficiency. Asaf's estimate of the duration of the work was 10-12 days. The work was completed in 7. I have already recommended NRG to a friend who needs to replace his roof. I would recommend NRG to anyone in need of quality work at a competitive price. Replacing a roof is tough money to spend, but NRG did a great job.

The crew worked very hard. And thanks to Arbi for his very fast response !! Arbi reply to my text right away and explained everything all the procedures. He will make you satisfied!!
Arbi came to my house very often throughout the projects like over five timesTo make sure everything is done correctly!

Arbi provided excellent services. He is professional, polite and helped us Very well.
NRG needs to follow up diligently. Paid the initial fees by Dec 2021. Called several times to update for the project to start. it took them 3 1/2 months to start instead finishing in February 2022.
The solar panel layout changed several times. The engineer never visited the home to see existing vent pipes. They used the Google Map instead. I need to step up several times and suggest layout to keep aesthetic of the home.
The final panel layout is not what we liked but there was no option.
The office staff insisting the installation payment without completing the total installation(panels were not lined & level, extra aluminum channels need to cut, damage tiles to install, paint pipes). In good faith, I paid after Arbi took efforts to complete above misc work, except roofer will replace tiles tomorrow.
Fernando- installer guy is polite.

I recently just had a project done by NRG. They just finished today so I try to actually see the system work as they havnt turned it on yet. I worked with Lizi and project manager Arbi. I gotta say both of them provided excellent customer service and were extremely detail oriented, Arbi and Lizi's communication skills were great and system looks very nice. Overall, I would recommend and will update once the system is up and running!

I sent them a message via their web site because they were calling me NON STOP to ask for an update on a project they came out to give a quote for last year. Now that we are financially able to proceed with this roofing project I decided to call them back. The operator on the phone didn't even let me get a word in and told me that I needed to get a handy man instead. NRG Upgrade, you just lost a potential roofing job with solar panels because of your receptionist. Good luck staying in business.

Reducing to one star:

Estimate I receive said i would get IQ7+, thank god I brought a solar guy to give me an opinion and he read everything, they installed IQ7's instead of the plus.

They were never able to install consumption meter either.

just save yourself money and go elsewhere.

I own a 100 year old traditional Spanish style (flat roof, red tiles on the side) duplex that I rent out. The existing roof was installed by a previous owner about 14 years ago. In the seven years I've owned it, the roof never leaked. But this season for the first time, it did. It started leaking in two widely separate areas. I hoped the two areas could be patched. So I used Yelp to find someone to patch my flat roof. But every roofing estimator who went up on the roof said don't patch it. They all said I need a brand new roof. Yikes!

Not only did the roof need to be replaced. It needed to be replaced soon. Like before the next major rain. Like Pronto!

By then I'd talked to a few roofers. I wanted something cost effective and basic rather than fancy .

NRG Upgrade stood out in quite a few positive ways.

In retrospect they stood out largely because of the good work of Daniel, the NRG Upgrade salesperson who came by and gave me his bid. Here's what he did to convince me to go with them:

1) Daniel stressed that their roof comes with a 10 year labor warranty to go with the 12 year manufacturers warranty on the flat roof. I didn't want to pay for a roof with a longer manufacturers warranty. And NRG Upgrade's 10 year labor warranty was something their competitors did not offer on their 12 year manufacturers warranty roofs.

2) Daniel gave me a bid on the spot. (He used satellite images and software to measure the roof area so he didn't need to go on the roof to measure it. He was one of the few salesmen who didn't need to go on the roof to give me a firm bid.)

3) Daniel's on the spot bid was price competitive compared to other roofers, even though other roofers did not offer a 10 year labor warranty with their 12 year manufacturers warranty roofs.

4) Daniel told me that they could start soon after I signed the contract. He said they had roofers ready. This was also a big deal since I wanted to start ASAP. Some other companies said they couldn't start right away because their roofers were booked on other projects.

5) Daniel told me verbally that his bid would include everything except the permit fees. No other roofer promised me this. In fact Daniel even said his bid did not specify what my cost per foot would be if more than 10% of the underlying wood deck needed to be replaced on my roof (which other roofers bid did include), because as he assured me, this would not be needed with my roof's wood deck. So his price was firm.

So that's why I went with NRG Upgrade.

When the roofing work started, I met Arbi, the project manager. Arbi not only kept me in the loop about the progress of the roofing, he went above and beyond. He even responded to my texts at night, when I was concerned about unexpected rainy weather. And he responded to my texts over the weekend when the office was closed to let me know whether the roofers would for sure start on Monday since I needed to let the tenants know. And even when he was on another roofing project in person, Arbi knew exactly what was going on on my project many miles away from him, and how it might affect the duplex and my tenants. Arbi was always available and truly went above and beyond as a project manager.

Let me also give shout outs to Miguel the head roofer and his amazing team who were responsible for the new roof passing city inspections the very first time every time the city inspectors came out! And to Lizi the production manager. And to Mary the office coordinator.

I'm pleased with my new roof for a number of reasons. It has a good labor warrant. And the overall price was low. I just wanted a basic roof for a rental. So if you are looking for a review about fancy solar panels, this review may not be for you. :)

To be fair there were a few hiccups in the project. But Asaf the owner of NRG Upgrade significantly reduced the severity of the major hiccup. And so I can honestly give them a good 4 star review. If you want a cost effective roofer, you should consider getting a bid from NRG Upgrade.

Incidentally NRG's labor warranty is outstanding. It says (and I'm quoting from my copy of the warranty) that NRG ""will warrant against defects in workmanship for the installation of the roofing system as follows: Commencing upon completion date for a period of 10 years for the replacement of roofing system as well as any damage done to the interior due to improper installation.""

Hopefully I won't need to use their impressive ten year labor warranty. And if I ever do I'm hopeful it won't disappoint.

I contacted NRG to request information on a roof extension so that the roof can cover the outdoor washer and dryer. Other companies said they could not help me but NRG was different. Daniel went to the home, did an inspection and told me it was not necessary to extend to roof because they could build a patio cover instead. Going with the patio cover saved me a lot of time and money. Daniel comes across as an honest and knowledgeable person.

After a roof leak following some heavy rains, we hired Alon and his team to assess the roof and repair it. He recommended a $10,000 job including application of siliconizer.

After completion of the job, we learned from our home insurance inspector that the work was actually incidental to the cause of the roof leak. In other words, we were misled into paying for work that did not address the cause of the roof leak. Sure enough, after the next round of rainfall a few months later, we had another roof leak in the exact same area where NRG had done its ""repair"".

Alon is an excellent salesman and a charismatic person. The quality of his work unfortunately does not match the quality of his sales pitch. I cannot recommend that you ever make use of NRG's services. To put it simply, they will overcharge and underdeliver.

Thanks to NRG upgrade for all the help

Daniel from NRG upgrade has finished installation and I am deeply pleased and impressed. He was happy to fit in with my schedule, came on time, and didn't stop working until it was up and running. I was especially impressed with his cheerful and friendly response to all my questions & comments. All in all, a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of going solar.
