I had a video meeting with Ryan for a solar installation quote and was blown away by his professionalism and preparation. Combined with the quality of the services he offered and the competitive rates, It was an easy decision to choose NorthStar Solar for our solar installation.

Prior to our meeting, I had met with a few solar companies already, who estimated they would not be able to finish the installation until probably the end of the year due to supply issues. Ryan said it would be ready in under two months and boy did they deliver! We signed the contract around late May and everything was up and running by early July!

NorthStar took care of the permit applications and notified me step by step throughout the entire process. Dani and Dan would also send us periodic updates and were really quick with their responses to any questions I had.

I can't say enough about how happy I am with NorthStar and their team. If you are looking for the best solar company not only in terms of prices but also customer service, you can stop looking because NorthStar will take care of you.

If you are searching for a Solar installer and reading their reviews since they are the only full 5 star installer, please keep reading my review, they fully deserve the 5 stars, they are the best company i have ever worked with. They installed Panasonic panels to my home, they were extremely professional, very clean, very knowledgeable, even the first person who talk to you,""supposed to be sales person"" is the owner, very technical, we had forum level discussions to find the best solution.
-My solar journey started at November 2021, I decided to go with Tesla solar since the price was cheap and I was not knowledgeable about their panel quality and technology. They did all the permit process etc and waited 5 months due to supply issues of Tesla, they were supposed to come and installed on March 8th, but on March 5th they called me and cancelled my project since my electric panel to gas pipe distance was 24inch (coded when home built but now current code is 36inch). They asked me to move my electric panel which is min $20k additional cost.
-After that bad experience, I started to search other companies, many solar companies sales person i reached, without understanding my problem, told ""sure we can install"" which didnt give any trust , so i started to discuss my issues on forums
-Then I found NorthStar Solar, first person I talked, Ryan, we talked 45 minutes and he approached very professionally, like a textbook approach, exactly the same approach I saw on forums, which is: adding a conduit to existing panel from behind, moving all the load to a subpanel far away from gas pipelie, behind a fire resistant wall, since code allow for Like for Like updates without adding a conduit from front surface.
This approach was just requiring more labor, supply and time also requiring a painter to come and fix the inside wall, so this is why Tesla cancelled the project but Northstar did it.
-They also installed EV charger to me with a permit as a part of the project
-They installed the system with a future proof architecture so I can install battery in the future.
I reached to them on March 5th, They installed the system in the beginning of April, permit passed on 1st visit, even the city permit inspector said "" it is great clean job"" and now my system is live....

So in my entire process, Dani managed the project very timely and professional, Ryan was always easy to reach and very helpful, their entire crew was top star. Even the person came for inspection was the professional electrician, so answered all my questions. Worksite both inside and outside, it was cleaner than they started. They fixed even the crawl space vent and many more details. And even after this great service, they didn't ask or say anything about writing review :) which many other companies asks.... Ryan and Dani were easy to work with from the start and still happy to help with any further questions. Highly recommend going with NorthStar if you're wanting to go Solar. They took care of my house when they came for the install and came back with matching paint to finish up touch up paint after they drilled through the wall to send some wiring through. We researched solar for a few months and got bids from multiple companies. Ryan and team were excellent with communication from the start and very cost competitive as well. We had 20 panels installed that look great on our roof and no issues with water leaking after the heavy rains in the December. Dani the project manager also was very responsive in answering questions post install while waiting for PG&E to complete inspections and connect to their grid.

Overall would recommend NorthStar to anyone considering going solar.

Ryan was really great to work with. We bought our house back in May of 2021. Our roof was at the point where it needed to be replaced, so I was looking for a licensed professional that can take care of my roofing and solar needs. Coming from Tesla solar, I was not impressed by their customer service and turnaround time for repairs. I decided to go with a local installer this time around. Went through several businesses locally for consultation and quotes. I learned quite a lot about solar and what I wanted specifically through the process. Ended up deciding on Northstar as they were the most reasonably priced and were able to accommodate for the exact equipment I wanted. The whole process took months, but Ryan never rushed me into anything. It was not until very late into the year that we decided to pull the trigger. I was getting really concerned about getting grandfathered in for NEM 2.0 as the direction wasn't really clear at that time. Ryan managed to not only get my system installed before the year end, he even got my roof replaced right before our heavy rain season started by working around tight schedules and adverse weather.

I researched solar for quite some time in the past before eventually settling on NorthStar.
But let me back up.
I reached out to tech Ryan to get a quote for some electrical work I wanted done. Ryan had previously installed a new sub panel for us with his prior employer. Repeat business is good for business. Having a tech you trust is more important. So when he brought up the idea of solar and the level of trust he had in his new company I began price shopping and comparing multiple systems with other companies.
NorthStar provided the best system output for hands down the best price. (Side note avoid Sunpower like the plague.)
Having previously used Ryan I was more than confident with the install. Timeline was drawn out a bit between holidays, covid, others rushing to complete installs before the end of 2021. But That's life. But back to the point. Trusting in Ryan led from a 2-3k job to a solar install plus the initial job. That's the level of trust I have in him, and his company didn't let us down either. Very happy with our results. Highly recommend.
