Ryan was really great to work with. We bought our house back in May of 2021. Our roof was at the point where it needed to be replaced, so I was looking for a licensed professional that can take care of my roofing and solar needs. Coming from Tesla solar, I was not impressed by their customer service and turnaround time for repairs. I decided to go with a local installer this time around. Went through several businesses locally for consultation and quotes. I learned quite a lot about solar and what I wanted specifically through the process. Ended up deciding on Northstar as they were the most reasonably priced and were able to accommodate for the exact equipment I wanted. The whole process took months, but Ryan never rushed me into anything. It was not until very late into the year that we decided to pull the trigger. I was getting really concerned about getting grandfathered in for NEM 2.0 as the direction wasn't really clear at that time. Ryan managed to not only get my system installed before the year end, he even got my roof replaced right before our heavy rain season started by working around tight schedules and adverse weather.

I researched solar for quite some time in the past before eventually settling on NorthStar.
But let me back up.
I reached out to tech Ryan to get a quote for some electrical work I wanted done. Ryan had previously installed a new sub panel for us with his prior employer. Repeat business is good for business. Having a tech you trust is more important. So when he brought up the idea of solar and the level of trust he had in his new company I began price shopping and comparing multiple systems with other companies.
NorthStar provided the best system output for hands down the best price. (Side note avoid Sunpower like the plague.)
Having previously used Ryan I was more than confident with the install. Timeline was drawn out a bit between holidays, covid, others rushing to complete installs before the end of 2021. But That's life. But back to the point. Trusting in Ryan led from a 2-3k job to a solar install plus the initial job. That's the level of trust I have in him, and his company didn't let us down either. Very happy with our results. Highly recommend.

We had Northstar solar replace our roof, install solar panels on our roof and the system and back-up battery in our garage.

Over the past few years we met with and received estimates from a number of solar installation companies. A few of them were nice and came in at a somewhat reasonable price, however, there were many that made us uncomfortable. From roof replacement estimates 2.5x higher that small roofing companies, to pressure sales tactics giving a discount only if we sign with them on the spot. Needless to say, we never went with any of them until we met Ryan at Northstar.

Our initial meeting with Ryan was via a Zoom conference. He was very informative, answered all of our questions and very responsive. The estimate he provided soon after our meeting also included a roof replacement. The cost of the roof was comparable to other independent roof businesses, not the ridiculous price other solar companies wanted to charge. The cost of the solar panels, system and back-up batters was comparable or better to the lowest estimates from other companies. Ryan's responsiveness with the estimate process, great communication, and willingness to truly listen to what we wanted was what really helped us decide to go with Northstar. That and the fact they are a local small business, which we like to try to support.

Once we signed to hire Northstar, the outstanding communication never stopped. We had a lot of question prior to the installation date and Ryan, as well as Dani, always responded quickly.

When the crew started the roof replacement, they were always on time, worked fast, and cleaned up after themselves every day. When we suddenly thought there was going to be wind and rain one evening, they returned, without me calling them, to make sure everything was secure and we wouldn't have any leaks into the house! This was a few hours after they had left for the day. The roofers completed their job on time and had it ready for the solar install crew.

We had the same great experience with the solar system installation crew. They were fast, clean, and always willing to explain what was going on for the day. Anytime they had to cut power to the house they would check in with us to make sure it wasn't going to disrupt one of my wife's many on-line meetings!

I would highly recommend meeting with Northstar if you are looking to get solar.

Ryan and his team made going solar painless. Very professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly.... cost friendly. It was nice to be walked through the energy process and choose the number of panels needed based on our homes usage of the past year. We chose to have our roof replaced and install 12 solar panels. To be honest, I was more than a bit surprised at the cost and the speed in which they finished our project and with top of the line materials to boot. Appreciate Ryan and his team and would highly recommend them to any friends or family looking to install solar

From the very start, the folks at NorthStar were great. It started with Ryan coming out to meet with us and developing a detailed proposal/quote. Sandy in the office was incredibly helpful and responsive- ensuring we knew what to expect and walking us through the logistics. The team took care of all of our permits and HOA approvals in a quick and efficient fashion. On-site installation was quick and seamless. We recently had solar installed by NorthStar and we couldn't be more happy! The estimate process was easy and informative. Once we committed everything went just as NorthStar had explained. We had many different contacts throughout the process and all employees were first class. We were amazed how efficient and quick the process could be! There was almost zero interruption to our normal daily routine! The install crew was clean, respectful, hardworking and did a great job. They did lots of little extra things on their own that I was expecting to have to ask for after the fact. They were obviously very experienced and knew their jobs well! We would highly recommend NorthStar to anyone looking for solar! Just wish we would have done it sooner!

These guys were amazing! They showed up when they were supposed to and got the job done like the professionals they are. They handled the permit process and it was pretty straight forward to get approval for financing. We have had our system up and running for 4 months now and have no complaints as we are able to see our PG&E bill savings! They even paintrd the pipe conduit thing that runs from the roof top down the side to the meter the same color as our house to make it blend in. Nice touch guys! My husband and I totally recommend them! Ryan and his guys were the right guys for the job.

Used NorthStar Solar for my solar panels this past summer. Their service was amazing both in the office with Ryan or on the roof with Ryan W. and the Northstar Solar team. They answered my questions, made sure I didn't buy more than I needed and even made sure my roofer was doing a quality job before they installed my solar panels as I had the roof done simultaneously. Very professional, courteous and I highly recommend Northstar Solar over the bigger companies.
