Off-the-bat, I just want to say that I agree with all the other reviews saying how great it was working with Sam, Johnny, and Jediel. Those guys were knowledgeable and very responsive to questions via text. They helped me upgrade my roof, solar, and attic insulation. The process started late December and ended late January (almost exactly one month for everything).

I didn't start with Next Door Solar, originally I was looking at Sunrun (Costco) and Tesla. The problem I was having with those companies was I didn't feel like I was getting all the information I wanted about the solar panels and the gear they were using. My parents ended up going with Sunrun for their house and I think they are fine with it, but I didn't like the look of the panels they used plus, overall, I think the system they installed (panels and app to monitor) were of lesser quality but at almost the same price as Next Door Solar. Quick Example: the system that Next Door installed allows me to see the energy being produced by each individual panel so I know if one is defective and needs to be changed through the warranty (image attached) vs my parents system only shows what all the panels are generating. So if they think their panels aren't producing like they use to down-the-road, then they will have to have someone come out and examine their panels.

The original meeting with Sam and Jediel went over most of what I talked about above. We had a good 2 hour discussion by the end of it I was sure I was going to go with them over Sunrun even if they were the smaller company (but way more responsive and personal than Sunrun). I still decided to do a little more due diligence and asked for some references and the discussions I had with the other customers were super helpful (note I will gladly be a reference for anyone else who has questions). Also, the initial estimate they gave me is exactly what I paid. Once I signed the contract, they did the initial inspection (measured the roof and outlined were the panels would go), then a few weeks later they re-roofed my house with Owens Corning which looks great. They did a lot of work to get the roofing done as soon as possible during January, which I would consider roofing busy season. They would text me updates on the roofing progress during that time, so I didn't feel left in the dark. Once, the roof was on they installed the panels which I think look slick and low profile compared to my parents an other people on my street. I wanted the black-on-black look not the token blue/silver old school look. They are so low-profile, still have people knock on my door trying to pitch solar and I am like I already got it, they just say they didn't see it. After the solar was the insulation, which was blown-in over my old existing blown-in insulation (only took like 2 hours total). My parents also asked if they could get some more insulation at there house and Sam gladly bundled them into my contract.

So after a few months, I love the system. I didn't even get a full 2 months worth of solar use (LADWP bills every 2 months) and I was still able to produce enough electricity to get a credit on my bill. They sent me some helpful paper work after it was all finished to help me optimize my return from LADWP. I sent my first bill to Sam and he compared it to his projected energy for the months which was helpful in understanding how well they are producing. I had a great experience with Next Door Solar, I am glad I opened my door and listened to the pitch. I can't recommended them enough.

Brett, Jediel, Sam, and Johnny of Next Door are good people to work with. They are professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The solar installation and upgrade of my windows came out great. If you're looking to switch to solar power and go green check out Next Door, you'll be happy you did.

Very pleased with all the upgrades and solar installation. Sam and Jediel were very easy to talk to and very responsive. After several meetings and great explanations of how the system is sized, priced, etc... we decided to go for it. Not only did we install Solar, we upgraded HVAC system, pool pump, and added blown insulation to our attic. The Next Door team has been very professional and responsive through out the whole process. Sam just recently walked through our first DWP bill to explain how it should be read to make sure our solar power generated is accounted for correctly. I highly recommend these guys to anyone interested in going solar. Quick, clean, and best of all, very responsive whenever I had a questions.

Great company.
No company is perfect, and though the work next door did for my house was wholly excellent, the true sign of a great company is what happens when things might not go exactly to plan, and in that regard, next door is truly 5 star. the best part of this company is Johnny, when things needed to be fixed, he is instantly available and on it!
This continues today, with him helping fill out a form for my insurance over a year later.

I recommend this company fully, you will be very happy with them.

Working with Sam, Josh, and the rest of the team at Next Door Home Upgrades was pleasant, informative, speedy, and I didn't feel like I was getting the hard sales pitch that so many other solar companies have given to me. They were able to work with me to size the system for my needs, rather than over-sell, and their estimate was $5K less than the other company. The cost difference may have been the size of the system, but that just goes to show that Next Door was right-sizing my system rather than up-selling me. Sam visited multiple times to explain things to me and go over my LADWP bills, and even came by and washed my panels after the ash build-up from all the fires. They have definitely gone above and beyond in the service department! I would highly recommend.

Cannot say enough about Sam, Johnny, Mando, Josh and the Next Door team. Sam first came to my door over a year ago when I was interested but not ready to make my home improvements. I interviewed a half a dozen different solar contractors and they made the best impression and had very fair pricing. Very motivated as well as pragmatic about what was needed and what was not. The re-roof and solar install all happened much faster than anticipated, and all of the permitting and paperwork was handled efficiently and passed inspections immediately. I would highly recommend them for your solar and home improvement needs.

I got 24 panels installed which looked like a multiple day job, but they knocked it out in one. The install was clean, organized, and works beautifully- Thank you all again! Johnny and his team were amazing. I had a special situation that fell outside of normal solar installation offerings and most companies wouldn't help me. When I explained the situation with Johnny, after some consideration he decided to take the project on and gave me a very, very fair price. His team was on time, professional, and did an amazing job getting my solar installation installed very quickly while also done right.
