DO NOT HIRE Newhaus. You will realize when working with them: They Take Advantage of Senior Citizens, No Transparency, Predatory Sales Tactics, Overpricing. Please look at their other 1 star reviews on Google, Yelp, Angie's List, and BBB. They are not accredited by BBB and have a C- rating with 9 complaints closed in the last 3 years I wish I would have consulted my kids who told me should have focused on those 1 star reviews before hiring.
I hired Newhaus to do a roof replacement which cost $24K. It was still expensive (lower quotes around 15K from other contractors). I only selected them because Boris, seemed ""nice"" by advising me the contractor I wanted was not licensed. But as soon as I signed the contract and original roof was demolished everything went downhill. They put us in a bad situation. According Newhaus inspector, George, we needed to replace all the plywood on our roof because it was not up to City Code. Before we could even assess the situation or review our options George told us we had to decide by 12:30 pm just the day after they demolished our entire roof and left our house vulnerable to the weather. Newhaus took advantage of the situation and provided outrageous estimates (up to 112K). We asked George to provide an official estimate, but their accountant won't be available till the following week. If we didn't take their offer, they threatened to show pictures of our ""not to Code roof"" to the city of LA which insinuated that we would also receive Code Enforcement citations or not pass any inspection which would mean additional delays and costs. If we choose not to take the added work, liability waiver signature is needed, give $1K deposit and scare us into thinking there would be added delays and the city inspector would not come in for weeks. George claims he gave us the opportunity to say no to this additional work but he really pressured us and didn't give us much time to make a decision. After sharing my experience with other people, I later found out that as a homeowner you can schedule your own inspection appointment with the City. So if the contractor claims it will take weeks, it is likely because the contractor chose not to schedule the inspection appointment for you, so verify the available inspection appointments for yourself on the LADBS website. Also make sure to go up to the roof when their salesman goes up for their own inspection. According to Newhaus they wouldn't have known if the plywood was old without demolishing the shingles. That is not necessarily true because other contractors have said you can make that determination from inside the attic.
We took the added work for another $28K because we didn't want any delays and leave our roof vulnerable to bad weather. When they provided the estimates of the cost of materials, labor, and etc, one of the glaring items was the price of plywood. According to their estimate it was $600 per plywood of 24 sqft, which is outrageous because at Home Depot it costs about $80. The work didn't start 5 days after we signed the contract; all the rush for us to make a decision and they still made us wait.
They started removing the old plywood and replacing with new ones on Wednesday, there was trash pick up the same day. But after work on Thursday, no hauling company picked up the trash till the following Monday. Based on what their project manager Marcos told me the trash collector was filled and they couldn't get anyone else to pick up the trash. In my mind they're already overcharging us by more than 200% and they can't even afford to pay another hauling company to pick up the trash.
I tried to keep this review short but it is hard because everything just went wrong. They never provided us with receipts for the materials. My daughter asked Peter to show us receipts and line costs of the change order contract but all he gave was an excel spreadsheet that took him two tries to add up to the total contract amount of 52K (24K for replacement roof and $28K for plywood replacement). This shows that they were making up numbers to justify the contract cost.
They are very dishonest. We asked for George's last name or a business card so that my son can verify his credentials on LinkedIn and the CSLB but he lied to us three times. FYI, everytime you work with a contractor all their licensing information and people associated with them are available in the CSLB website. When George finally gave his last name it didn't match what was displayed in the CSLB website. I don't understand why he thought it was necessary to lie to paying customers.
I'm hoping this won't happen to other homeowners. I will to continue paying the $52K loan I took out from the bank for the next 10 years. I just can't believe this happened to us, I thought contractors would be much nicer to senior citizens but that is not the case, they took full advantage of us. Just a reminder to use the CSLB website as a guide to protect you from contractors like Newhaus.

This review is for my interaction with Newhaus, during on site estimate and before, as I chose a different company to do my roof based on my experience with this company. First, they had multiple people calling me after they received my inquiry from Angie's list, so I received too many phone calls from them. When we finally arranged time for an estimate, the very very nice young man showed up on time. He would not inspect the entire roof (all other roofers did without pause) until I asked. When it came time to discuss the actual work and price of my repairs, he put me on the phone with a gentleman at their main office. This guy who was ""their expert"" completely turned me away from Newhaus. He would not answer my direct questions, he was patronizing and he contradicted himself during the conversation. REALLY disliked chatting with this guy and I had an issue with someone diagnosing issues on my roof over the phone from iPhone pictures. Lastly, they will charge you a service fee if you choose to pay by a credit card.

We had the pleasure of working with George for a roof repair. It was my first time dealing with something like this and George was nothing but punctual and helpful, and the finished product looks fantastic. I recommend Newhaus roofing construction to everyone and anyone. Great experience! Worth every penny.

I had Kevin (project mgr) come to give me an estimate 6-April-2024. He asked me what brought him there. I advised him I have a leak in the roof, but my insurance has taken care of that part. Kevin wanted to see where the leak was, but I told him he can not go into the house and that the insurance has already given me the facets which need to be replaced. Asked if he had worked with insurance before, he said yes. I signed the contract, gave Kevin the insurance papers, he took a picture of it as well as taking the original copy I gave him. He stateo he would call me to let me know when they would start, the crew just showed up and I turned them away as I wasn't wanting them to be there without me being home. Was told that the crew looked at the wrong day. After Kevin & the crew tore off the roof, was told that I needed new sheathing. He put in a new claim with my insurance. In the meantime I had to have the insurance out to check new shingles that were off the roof. Advised the insurance not to do what little was covered. After sending things in to the insurance, was told that the adjuster asked why he had the same facets that were already approved. This is when we found out Keven took off the East side vs the West side. I contacted the CSLB, gave them all the information needed. New Haus Roofing lied and stated things that I nor the Insurance company stated. One of the companies that showed up to ""give me an estimate"" bribed me. I was also advised by this compan that this isn't the first time New Haus roofing has done something like this. I contacted the CSLB and let them know what happened and their attorneys stated I was right, I had all the information needed ect. After going back and forth with New Haus & Marcos, I finally told him I do not agree to the terms they were asking me to sign. A bit later, one of the owners called and stated to me that he will do what ever it was I needed to have done. I signed the contract and they were to start. I advised the owner that I had a brand new vinyl fence that needs to go up, he stated that it was OK, to put it up as it would not get ruined. The fence wasnt up 5 days and it was all scratched up on 4 panels. I took before pictures and after. I had to beg New Haus roofing to put a cover over my roof as I had collectables in my garage & attic. With the morning dew it was ruining my interior of the house, attic & garage. New Haus set up the city inspection and the inspector was really angry at Marcos for having non of the repairs to the roof done. Inspector left at 10am & by 6pm I had not heard from him as to when they would cover the roof, by 645pmsih still no answer that I told them via text message that I was going to cover the roof if they werent there by a certain time. I was told that the person who was going to cover it was on his way, but it would be 1.5+ hrs before he got here...that put him here by 9pm. Marcos was here by 7:40pm and argued with me when I finally told him to leave before I called the police. He then said he would go start to cover. I advised him that he had to be off the roof by 8pm. Kicked him off at 8pm and they other person wasnt there until 9pm as he still had to stop and purchase the tarp. I fired them on the spot. I now have a new roof, THANK YOU JESUS with the help of the new roofers I hired.

Service is fine, quality is good, they are way over charge on the price. Be careful after sign the contract. They will find the way over charge on roof replacement board. Please make sure you know your roof square footage too. That will help. Each board 8x4 not more than 300 per piece. Quality of work is 4 star and price is 1 star. Staff is good, the person you need to watch is the one doing inspection on the roof. He will bump up the cost big time.

Hayk gave us outstanding services on our roof and also a really good deal on pricing. I was amazed. when we bought the house we were under the impression that the home had a brand-new roof or some decent roof but right when we moved in we started noticing leaks during the rainy season. It was horrible. I went ahead and contacted this company and spoke with Hayk they were able to come down an estimate and start.

Jack has been extremely pleasant, kind, and straight forward. Work was done on our roof within two days, and the roofers who came out were also kind and seemed knowledgable. Today we did a water test, and there is no leaking (complete patio redo and torch down where the patio meets the back of the house). Communication with this company has been fluid, constant, and appreciated, since we have dealt with corporations and sole contractors that were not. Thank you, Newhaus, Jack, and Andy - we appreciate doing business with you.

Initial roofing was fine but the warranty is absolutely worthless. We had major leaks 8 months ago, about a year after the new roof. Water came through the ceiling and down interior walls and soaked through the insulation. Newhaus has been no help for those 8 months (and counting)! They don't respond to calls or texts, except maybe a disingenuous ""we're working on it"" every few weeks. Most recently, they said repeatedly that they'd be out to look at the problem, confirmed the day of the appointment, and still didn't show up.

Newhaus's word clearly means nothing once they have your money. They don't care about your time, your property, or your well-being. My insulation got completely soaked, and has just been sitting in the house for 8 months, along with my water-damaged walls and ceiling. Wondering what kind of long-term respiratory damage we're all sustaining.

Do not hire Newhaus if you care about your property or your health.

We paid over $40,000.00 to Neuhaus for a new roof in 2023; 10 months later it started to leak, ruining new ceiling and insulation and causing high mold levels in my kitchen. Their response was to try and blame skylight which was not the source of the leak; and blame us for their improper installation of HVAC during the re-roofing. Their ""warranty"" work consisted of applying ugly black patches; and telling us we would have to pay $1300.00 to move HVAC so they could patch under it. They refused/delayed paying for water remediation in the house or repairs to the ceiling long enough to create mold. They refused to furnish the thirty (30) year warranty which was part of the contract or their General Liability policy. They will not negotiate in good faith and want a ""gag""order. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THEIR WEBSITE SAYS; THIS CUSTOMER IS ""0"" SATISFIED
