They were prompt to respond to my on-line request for an estimate and quick to schedule the guy (owner) to come out and take a look at my roof; However, he came on a Friday and said it would take him a full week to get an estimate back to me. The other roofing companies that I used got an estimate back to me within one business day. To make matters worse, he never sent an estimate at all. I don't think he wanted the job which he should have just said.

First of all, should have read the reviews left by others before contracting the company. I have never had to complain about any service that I received, but the lack of respect shown by this company has compelled me to share with others before ""investing"" your hard earned dollars on this company.
At first contact, estimate and timing of doing the job seemed ideal. So after considering other bids, we decided to go with Murakami Roofing. They arrived for the job and then I receive a call that a worker, ""has fallen through our roof!""

We got the story of ""your previous contractor didn't do this"" ""employee's first day on the job."" Okay, that's all fine, but now what? We have a hole in our roof! That day they repaired the hole and said that someone would come back to repair the ceiling in our living room.
After waiting almost a week they sent someone to finish the ceiling. When calling about timing they said that he would be here at 8am Thursday. After waiting for hours, called the office with a ""Hang up!"" (Caller ID?) Called right back ""Voicemail"" (hmmmmm). Worker ""Chris"" arrived at noon. Did some work.., but had to have things dry, so would come back tomorrow. Next day arrived late again, "" busy with other jobs.""
Oh my....when the family arrived home. The ceiling job was not done, and plaster splatter was all over our living room carpet, furniture and window blinds. We were totally SHOCKED! Why wasn't a tarp placed on our carpet and furniture to protect it. This was not something that was simply vacuumed up. Our carpets and furniture are stained!
When calling to complain, just got an answering service. When ""Chris"" called back we demanded the manager or owner call us back, because his explanation was ""the nozzle was crooked.""
As of this posting, we are still waiting for a call back.
Yes, this company does a great job with roofing, but BEWARE when their employees fall through your roof. Follow up really leaves much to be said and their interior work Is a ""DON'T.""

I had my first encounter with Murakami roofing this week. I called on Tuesday afternoon about a roofing job they had done for my dad 6 years ago. Last week some shingles blew off. Shelly took down my information and said she would do some checking and get back to me. I called back Thursday afternoon, and she said they could not find any record of the job, so I messaged her the information asking if it was still under warranty. They inspected the roof on Friday and estimated $950 to fix and didn't admit any fault. Upon further inspection I discovered that it was their workmanship that had caused the shingles to blow off in the first place. The nails had broken through the shingles upon installation, therefore it wasn't holding it down per their manufacturers recommendation. After talking to Clint to see if he would do anything he lowered the estimate to $800 which was still not acceptable since it was their fault in the first place. His excuse was that their workmanship warranty was only for five years, however, if they had installed it correctly in the first place I would not have had any problems. I would not recommend Murakami's roofing due to their poor workmanship and lack of taking responsibility for their mistakes.

Murakami Roofing did a very nice job on our roof. The estimator did a good job inspecting and giving me an assessment of our roofing needs, and answered my questions well. They stripped-down all the layers of shingles, some pitch and gravel, and our carport corrugated roofing. I really appreciated their repairs of areas of wood damage before they placed the new roofing. They also placed a solar vent fan, which has been helping to keep the house a little cooler on hot days. They had several guys in their work crew, so they were able to get it done in 3 days. I am pleased with their workmanship, and I'm glad that we chose them to do the job!

I have used Murakami Roofing for two residential jobs in the past three years. They are very professional and do really nice work. I was most impressed by the fact that they do not fool around. They arrive at the appointed time with a full crew and a yard full of equipment. They work fast and clean and they pay attention to detail. Price wise they were a tad lower than the second bid I got and they included a couple of little extras I asked for.
The only negative is they are really busy. It took about 2 weeks to get an estimator out and about 6 weeks to schedule the job. All told I'm very pleased with their work.

About three years ago, paid over $2000 to replace second floor roof flashing and other items. Less than a year later, small leaks were noticed in the same work area when it rained. Called to inspect but no follow-up calls or repairs were done. Since then, repeated leaks in same work area have been observed when it rains.

Recent job from another roofing company indicated that roof repair job done was incomplete and didn't do what they were supposed to do.

August of 2014 Murakami's Roofing LLC sent their employee Keoki (I think) who fixed 2 vent fans (1 to the living area and 1 to the attic) and tuned up several problems with the laps on the roofing material. They also did applied led flashing to various roof top areas such as plumbing vents.

In my opinion their pricing is just a little high. After all 1 guy on my roof for 6 - 7 hours was around $1000 for labor. Seems like quite a bit.

HOWEVER, they were very professional and their work is insurred. In fact when hurricane Ana brushed by us I developed a new leak in my son's room. Monday morning I called their office at 8:50 am and by 9:30 I had a call back with an apology and assurance they would cover any damages. Keoki (very nice guy) was there by 1:30 pm fixing that and even double checking other areas to be extra sure.

Too bad this particular issue wasn't properly noticed / addressed by the original supervisor or Keoki but were all human. I believe that they made best efforts all along and no hassles getting this problem addressed.

Despite my concern that their may be cheaper I WILL use this company and WILL highly recommend them to others. Good service in Hawaii can be difficult to find and the service Murakami provides is top notch.

Well, what can I say. I just got off the phone with the ""office"" girl and tried to schedule a day that fits into my schedule. She didn't give me any leeway, take it or leave it! The clincher was when i mentioned that I was getting other estimates and she told me if that's the case, then go with them and hung up on me!!!!!

BAD FOR BUSINESS. I don't care how well of a job they did. It's just a roof. It's not like having finishing work done in you kitchen. WHO DO THEY THINK THE ARE???

I like how they got the job done right, the first time. I'm so satisfied with the quality they had on our families new roof. My aunty had referred us to another company (I will not say who) who do roof repairs at a relatively cheap price. Well you get what you pay for with that company because after looking at their yelp reviews, we ran far away from them. Thankfully we came across Murkami's roofing on yelp as well, and everything seemed right so we hired them, and everything was beyond our expectations.

Needed some bids on my house I was renovating, and I called Murakami's and 5 other companies. Murakami's bid was in the middle, but what sold me was their free onsite estimate. The estimator came early and was more thorough than any other company was, and gave me hard numbers on the job. After that, I had to chance it with these guys because it felt the most pono. So I gave them the bid, and after we signed the contract, they came and did the work. After they finished the roof, they were very polite in letting me know what to do and what not to do, and how to take care of my roof so it will last for a long time.

I see some other reviews here on yelp are not favorable for Murakami's but I think it's good to note every company has mad customers. I'm not one of them and would recommend Murakami's Roofing for their affordability and quality of work. It was grade A and didn't need to be redone.
