M. S. Roofing was great. They have replaced the roofs on many homes in my community and everyone recommends them highly. My neighbor across the street has done a lot of his own remodeling work and would get up and check out what they were doing after they left and he was very happy with their quality. If my neighbor likes them, then I know they are up to par.
For me, they were kind, collaborative, friendly and polite. They started the job just as soon as the HOA authorized it.
After the job was finished, I noticed that the light on my garage door opener wouldn't come on and since they accessed the electricity there, I thought it was related. It turns out that the light bulb just happened to burn out then. The owner of the company went over and beyond because he replaced the light for me. When I noticed some bugs in the fixture, he took it back off and let me clean it out. This certainly was not included in the roofing project.
The complaints from others on this site don't make much sense. I checked their contractor license electronically. Who carries that sort of paperwork on them?
The other complaint about noise was only part of the job. How do you make machines quieter? That is silly. I am very happy that I worked with them. Thank you M.S. Roofing!!!

So we bought a house here in Vista, California knowing that the roof needed to be replaced. Miguel was recommended to us from my wife's coworker. Everything went well the day he came for the inspection to give us a quote. He let us know about all the damaged fascia boards and possible roof panels that might need to be replaced so that he can repair them while he replaces the roofing. I was amazed at the fact how bad they were and glad that he recommended for all of it to be replaced. From what I could see how damaged the fascia was I knew it wasn't just a sales pitch and I know for fact that nails do not stick to bad wood.

I wanted to add this part in my review because I believe the owner is not on YELP looking at this but I will let him know. I read the 2 bad reviews on yelp for MS Roofing but still chose MS Roofing to do the work on my home.
I personally and this is probably everyone would not just let justanyone fix my stuff with bad reviews but because Miguel was given a high quality recommendation from my wife's coworker so I thought I would give it a shot and I'm extremely glad I did.
The 1st review I read was a neighbor complaining about this company. This review shouldn't count as a bad review in my opinion.
The 2nd review was about a customer wanting to see upfront the Company license and insurance. This reviewer needs to understand company's have the right to turn work down. I definitely would not start a job if there was complaining from the start.

Miguel and Jose did a complete new roof on our row house. They were on time to work everyday worked all day courteous and always on time. They finish the job in the amount of time they said they would. Could not be happier. We highly recommend Ms Roofing great experience.

Don't hire this crew if you want to be a good neighbor. With a crew of 5, it still took It took them one week to complete a re-roof of our next door neighbor's (average size house). Not only slow, but interminable hammering and even a noisy LEAF BLOWER ! What the?
Neighbor does 7day shift work so was not bothered, but you would have to be committed if someone's at home at the time. Their 3-4 trucks took up all extra parking on cul de sac.

Trust but verify.

When Miguel would not provide a copy of his business license and insurance, we would not allow him to climb on our home's roof. Even though Miguel was referred by a friend, and in talking with him, Miguel came across as a chipper, cool guy with lots of roofing experience, we're not willing to personally assume the risk of a contractor, who is unwilling to show proof of being licensed and properly insured, performing a service where there is a risk of him falling off a roof and getting seriously hurt.

Subsequently, Miguel left our property without communicating that he was leaving or offering an explanation for his sudden departure. When I called him to inquire further, he said ""I don't want your project"" and claimed that none of his other projects ask to see proof of his insurance or license.

To me, the above are red flags and unrepresentative of a professional business.

Perhaps his other projects are less concerned about doing business with a verified, licensed contractor or assuming the liability implications for someone climbing on their roof. Perhaps Miguel really is licenses and insured... if so, why does he refuse to share these documents? It's fishy.
