I highly recommended this company to my daughter. They immediately gave her a call and helped with her gutters within an hour or so. Very quick and efficient work. They cleaned up afterwards and everything was excellent

Very professional customer service. My aunt had a leak and they came in right before the rain on the same day. Joe fixed the leak and she has not had any issues since, even through hail storms. It's been 6 months. I will be referring to more family and friends!!

$650 worth of work that should have only been $5 worth of window caulking!
I had a water leak from rain and Nick came out to inspect it and stated that the shingles needed to be replaced and some caulking around the top of the wood near the shingles needed to be caulked. He was sure that his work would NOT leak again...he even gives a warranty on the work.

Well, within 4 months I need to call to utilize that warranty because the same exact leak was back again after a hard rain. He came out again and stated that it was the window that needed to be caulked and the shingles were fine. I asked him why wasn't that suggested or done the 1st time....that way I would have maybe felt like the $650 was worth it. He said with roofing they just never know for sure where a leak is coming from. I thought that was sort of stranger for a company with so many years of experience.

To go back to the beginning....

When Nick came out to do the initial inspection I never got the impression that when I scheduled for the work to be done that he would send out some non-English speaking men that asked me details of what needed to be done instead of him doing the work or at least coming to the job to make sure they did what I was paying for.

After the 2nd issue he did the same thing, he inspected it and then sent out the same guys to caulk the window. Nick NEVER came back out to make sure it was done correctly, nor did he ever even call or text me to say the work was done and was I satisfied.

After dealing with A LOT of roofing companies, I can say based on first hand knowledge Modern Roofing is the best in the business. Knowledgeable, honest and kind. We have used them multiple times from simple gutter cleaning on a 3 story townhouse to major repairs on residential AND commercial roofs and will absolutely not user anyone else. Because they are really good, they do stay busy but absolutely worth the wait and will always fit someone in when an emergency happens.

My eight-unit town house association roof was messed up by Harvey. I met with eight different roofers, but only Joe Shirley of Modern Roofing told me the truth - our shingles were defective. Joe told me this and he wasn't even a dealer for that manufacturer. That's as honest as it gets.

We hired Joe, he is now a CertainTeed dealer, and the job he, his son Nick, and his entire crew did was simply fantastic! Our roofs are more complicated than the average roof. In addition to the pitched roof, we have multiple flat areas, and lots of flashing. Our roof looks better than new and it's as tight as a drum!

I highly recommend Modern Roofing and Joe Shirley. I only wish yelp would make an exception and let me give them six stars - ******!

We were nervous finding a roofer as we have been burned in the past dealing with contractors. We started out on Home Advisor where Modern roofing was highly recommended and then we moved to Angies List and found that they were very highly recommended there too. After gathering multiple bids we found that Modern Roofings prices were a little above average but they were pushing the best products and were preferred contractors with their products which gave us a little relief. It was a really quick turnaround on the project. They scheduled the job the following week and said they would take two days to complete. I was impressed with that as we have a 3500 sq ft 2 story steep roof. They arrived at 8am the day of the install and material was delivered shortly after. in a few hours they had all of my roof torn off and by the end of the day they were hauling the second load of material from our house. they left at 6pm as requested and were back on site at 8am the next day. They finished around 4:30pm the next day and spent about an hour on doing a really thorough cleaning. The group was very conscious of our house and did their best not to damage anything. the work area was always clean and there was always someone there to talk to for concerns or questions. I am extremely happy with the roof and wanted to give them a wonderful review on one of the weaker reviewed sites they are on, hope this helps!

I actually came across this company on home advisor which is another review/rating company that I use when I'm looking at doing larger projects. Originally they were supposed to come do an estimate on Thursday the 19th. I took a half-day off of work, which was of course half a vacation day, and nobody ever called or showed up for our scheduled appointment.

I finally contacted someone at the office after multiple attempts to call, and leaving a voicemail, and reach them on Monday the 23rd and rescheduled my appointment for Tuesday the 24th. Again, I have day off of work and another half a vacation day for this scheduled appointment. And again nobody showed up or bother to call me.

The one star rating is strictly due to poor customer service; although I will say the lady in the office was very courteous and apologetic for the issues. However actions speak louder than words and at this point I cannot trust that this company would actually show up to do the job if I hire them. So I will move on in another direction with another company that wants my business.

Although we ended up hiring another roofing company because the other company's quote included more work that we thought should be executed, Modern Roofing is definitely a company we would hire in the future. They arrived on time for a bid just a day after making first contact. They were extremely professional and provided a very competitive quote.
