Modern Roofing did a roofing project in 2013 for us with 15 year warranty $30,000 job. Endless problems... many leaks. They don't honor warranty don't answer phone, don't reply to messages left. Another scam roofing company... run from this one...

Simply getting an estimate turned into a nightmare. Salesperson asked for Tuesday; got tenant approval, then ""oh I need Thursday instead"". Move to Thursday. Shows up 45 minutes late. Tried to talk to a manager - no call back. If that's sales, tells you a little about the company. I have multiple rentals - I know who I will never use.

We called Mike at Modern Roofing due to a leak in our spanish style roof. He was able to come out the same day, showed us the problem, then fixed it for an extremely reasonable price. I would use him again any time, and recommend him without any reservation. He is the rare combination of very skilled, honest and fair!

Two years after Modern Roofing replaced our roof, we had a skylight leak. We called them for a quote to fix it. Instead, they sent out a technician who did the repair work and there was no charge! Highly recommend!

I just had a quote for my roof from Modern Roofing. Mike came, inspected my roof, and gave me a quote. To my surprise he said the roof had at least 5 more years. What a pleasant surprise! It is not often that a company says you don't need work done. I haven't had work done by this company but I can certainly vouch for their honesty. I plan to call them in 5 yrs for another inspection.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you want unnecessary stress and a 1-2 week process to take 2 months due to incompetent workers. I wish there was a 0 stars option. They were UNPROFESSIONAL, SHADY, SLOPPY, and UNAPOLOGETIC for all the issues we had due to their incompetent workers. Modern Roofing was contracted through Lowe's to install our roof and replace the fascia board. This was by far the WORST experience we have ever had with installation in our home. They rescheduled the start date twice without telling us. I had to call the day of to find out why they weren't at my home. They lied one of the times saying the city inspector wouldn't have been able to come when he did come. We caught one of the guys urinating on the side of our house the first day. The workers did not know about the fascia board replacement they were supposed to do when we paid for it so they had to stop and leave to get materials losing another day of work. There were days of rain in between where they left all the wood out in the rain instead of under a patio cover we have. It took them 4 days with 3 guys just to replace fascia board. They left our chimneys' brick exposed. Our roof DID NOT PASS INSPECTION due to areas not being covered with shingles (the underlayment was exposed and the ridgeline was not fastened. It was either installed incorrectly or the nails were too short. The initial proposal for the scope of work stated that the ship lap would be trimmed for the drip edge to be flush with the fascia board. This was not done along with the drip edge being crooked leaving the house looking hideous (pictures attached). There was a 2 inch gap between the fascia board and the drip edge. Everything was left looking sloppy. They sent one guy to remove all the fascia board in order to cut the ship lap which should've been done before. This took one week and he spent a week walking all over our new roof to do this. Finally after resolving all the issues, 2 months from the start date the roof passed inspection and everything was done. All these issues and stress and never one apology from any of the supervisors. They pretty much told us ""well your roof is done"" and offered us $300 in compensation. What a joke.

In 2016, I contracted with Modern Roofing to install metal roofs on 2 new spec homes in Silver Lake as my contractors are not specialized in metal roofing. They were reasonably priced and had good reviews at the time. Fast forward to the rains of this winter and the roofs started leaking pretty badly.

The couple who had purchased the home got in contact with me and I tried to get Modern Roofing to come out to assess the problem. It took over a month to get them out there with multiple no shows or cancelled appointment times. I had to then drive to their office so I could relay my frustration. In the meantime I had sent photos to the manufacturer of the metal who gives a warranty, but only if installed correctly. The manufacturer pointed out the mistakes right away.

Finally I get Ricky, the foreman, to site who points out the sources of the leaks. Trying to get the repairs completed is a whole other saga. After over 2 months of mis ordered and not ordered materials, no shows and the home owners and myself moving around our schedules time and time again, the installer shows up unannounced to repair the roof.

When a roof leaks, it's not just the roof that's a problem. it's the insulation, drywall, paint, mold growth. After the drywallers didn't show up as scheduled and the home owners were livid at this point, I finally brought my crew on my dime to do the interior repairs.

As a project manager for a home builder, I frequently use yelp to find good companies so thought I'd contribute my feedback to the community. If it was this difficult for me to get these guys to repair a roof they installed, I think it would be near impossible for a home owner. Please choose wisely when choosing a roofer or contractor and steer clear of these guys!

Bottom line, no need to look any further if you want a first rate professional roofing company.
I interviewed 6 roofing companies for my very difficult (and high up) Spanish tile roof job (about 1/3-1/2 of my entire roof including a tricky turret area). Two companies didn't even want the job.
First off, Mike, the sales person who came out, was by far the most patient and most knowledgeable person of the lot. He was bright, engaging, and cared about what I needed done. He assured me their guys were experts and great. And he had no issue with my many (and I mean many) questions.
He was 110% correct about the guys who did the work. They were fantastic.
I have owned my home for 18 years, and have had countless people work on all aspects of this 2,400 sq foot 1926 Spanish home. Without doubt, I would have to say my Modern Roofing team of guys were the most skilled, knowledgeable, dedicated, and pleasant to have around than anyone who has worked here. They even went above and beyond fixing little things that were not part of the job. So, a very grateful shout out to (Master) Audel, Jose and Miguel, and Sergio on torch! Thank you!
Their expertise and attention to detail with flashing, tile pans, torch down and caulking around the turret area (which has up until now always been a difficult roof area with rain), was phenomenal. I am a very hands-on homeowner and I can say without question they know exactly what they are doing.
Another bonus, if you get an estimate for your job and bother to get a few others, you will likely find that they are the most reasonable. They were for me. But on top of that, there was no 'upsell' whatsoever. In fact, there were choices made where Mike helped me realized I didn't need the overkill, and hence saved some money. After some research, I realized he was 100% correct. It's a rare company that thinks about their clients needs over their own pockets.
I can't speak more highly of them. They are the only roofing company I will ever use moving forward.... Live and learn! (BTW, they were referred to me by my neighbor who had the same experience years ago)
And one last note. I found out they travel to San Diego and up to Santa Barbara for certain jobs as well. So for those out of the LA basin, you might be in luck.
