I had been dreading doing my kitchen remodel / installation of new flooring because I didn't want to do a contractor search. I had heard some horror stories and kept pushing the work back. Luckily, I didn't end up having to do a search because my friend highly recommended Charles, and we had such a smooth and easy time with the remodel! He's extremely responsive, very helpful and easy to work with, and got our remodel done one day earlier than we had initially discussed! I was highly impressed with the timeliness and quality of work -- our kitchen and floors look amazing. He went above and beyond for us with all the work he did. I highly recommend Charles and his team at Modern Concepts and will definitely use him for all projects in the future!

my fiance left a review for the other, bigger project that modern concepts had completely for us, but i wanted to follow up with ANOTHER stellar one- a few weeks after Charles & co completed our big reno, I had a slew of random things that needed finishing- a backsplash, some plumbing to finish, etc.- a laundry list of things that we had run out of time for. charles could have easily said no, it was a relatively small job, but he had a crew out within the week and they completely it in record time and for a great price. charles and his crew are my heroes.

I couldn't wait until they were finished to write this review. We're so happy and impressed with Charles and his team! He's been on top of everything along the way and having a good manager is essential for big projects like this. These guys are fast, friendly and professional, and we can tell the finished product is going to be perfect. We're already talking about the next project that we'd like Charles and his team to come back for. He's made everything so easy on us, and that's really important right now. We got lots of estimates for this and he had the best price as well as the best timeframe for beginning the work and for completion. If you're looking for a great contractor to manage and tackle your project, Charles is your guy!

I had a kitchen remodel completed by Modern Concepts Contracting. Charles and his crew did an amazing job. The work consisted of demolition of my exiting kitchen, relocate electrical, plumbing, tile work, and cabinets/counter tops. I am super picky about detail and they met or exceeded my expectations. Any issue, Charles was always available to make sure it was completed to my standard. I plan on having more work completed and would recommend Modern Concepts for any type of new construction or remodel work.

As far as I'm concerned, 5 Stars doesn't even come close to the quality, value, and incredible customer satisfaction I had regarding a recent roofing replacement (roofing of my house, attached porch, and detached garage) completed by Modern Concepts Contracting. From start to finish, Charles Yi and his crew were absolutely stellar! Each night I came home to great progress and work areas that were cleaned to the tee. We were working on a very tight timeline since my roofing job was tied in with the need for a bank re-inspection in order to move forward on refinancing of my home mortgage. Charles understood this and made sure the job progressed within my timing needs, while always ensuring that the work was done perfectly. I couldn't be happier with the finished product. Modern Concepts Contracting will be my go-to contracting company for any and all future home repairs and upgrades.

We hired Charles to partially renovate our 15 year old 2 bedroom/3 bath 1592 square foot townhouse condo on the border of downtown. Our budget did not allow a complete renovation, so we wanted to do things that would bring value with the goal of having more much-needed work done in a few years. It was quite a challenge finding a contractor. I asked friends and colleagues about people who did work for them and nobody recommended their own contractor who did their prior large-scale renovations! My neighbor in the complex said that she had a great contractor to recommend. I had received a few quotes from contractors who I did not know so I thought the fact that my neighbor recommended Charles had added value. We received his quote. It was in the same ballpark as the other quotes, but the recommendation was key. Once we started talking more in depth about the quote, he gave invaluable advice. There were ideas I had that would have cost me more money and made him more money that he told me not to waste my money on if I was definitely going to do more work. He also suggested that I buy all of the lighting, bathroom, kitchen fixtures, door handles, cabinet pulls and other materials (except paint and flooring, but he gave me samples to approve) to save time and money. Once I selected all of the materials, he reviewed my pictures of the selections to make sure everything matched. We replaced all carpeting with wood laminate floors, removed bathtub frames/doors (raised 2 shower heads) and had a single glass panel put in each bathroom, painted all doors and the entire unit, changed all of lighting, faucets, shower heads, door handles and cabinet pulls. He also had a great idea for us to remove a row of kitchen cabinets that would make the kitchen and dining room open plan. He also salvaged molding from the demo to make the new open space look like it was always that way. He also educated me about trends of what people are more commonly doing so we didn't spend money on something that would look dated.

I have another property where I have had every type of work done. I now know that it is very unlikely that there would not need to be touch ups, possible change orders or having certain things re-done, but what makes the difference is the end result and attitude of the contractor about solving the problems. Charles had a great attitude about challenges that came up along the way. Charles is a man of few words (I tend to be more chatty), but he would sent a text and say we have this previously unknown issue. You can handle A, B or C way. My response was always-- what would you do if it was your home? I trusted him to decide and the end result was great.

When it came time for a final walk through, there were some minor things that needed to be put on a punch list, but he cares so much about his work and that of his subs, that he was visibly annoyed that something went unnoticed and/or was not brought to his attention by those workers until the walk through so he could have fixed it before. This showed he cares about each job as though it was his own home! He quickly addressed everything on the list to our complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Charles and his company. He made the job so much less stressful for us. I look forward to working with him again on the next stages of the project.

If you need contracting done, Modern Concepts Contracting should be your top choice. Charles and team recently converted my garage into an amazing backhouse that is both immaculate and done at a reasonable price. MCC works very efficiently and is upfront about all costs associated with the project. I would refer MCC to any of my friends or family and look forward to working with them again. I literally have nothing negative to say about my experience with them.
