I think the saying goes, in your life, you need a good doctor, a good lawyer, and a good contractor.

During the same time that I was working on my new home, I knew of several other friends who were also renovating or remodeling their homes. I can say without hesitation that no one had the experience that I did.

My home when I first purchased it and before remodeling started was in dire need of some major work. No central air, flooring was lopsided, structural foundation work had to be done, needed to change a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home into a 3 bed 3 full bath plus den home, needed to get permits, install a porch, redo the garage into an extra room, landscaping, etc. The list goes on. From the time my escrow was closed, to when everything was ready for move in, all of this was done in less than 4 months which is ridiculous in a time when materials and manpower was low. Friends who had half as much work to be done as I did spent over a year.

In terms of costs, the speediness at which all this work was done saved me an incredible amount of money. In addition, every cost was stated very transparently, including any sudden, unforeseen changes or circumstances, as well as options to add, forego or make adjustments and those subsequent costs.

Michael has decades of experience, and was crucial in thinking of things that I never would have that enhanced my home in ways I would not have imagined. He also is very very detail oriented and was always on site, making sure nothing, even small, seemingly insignificant things were overlooked. His staff was excellent, very communicative and knowledgable. He and his employees treated my home like their home, and the final product speaks for itself.

Renovating a home can be extremely stressful especially when it is so hard to find a contractor you can trust. I had none of the experience that so many people had by working with Misong Construction, and would recommend them for any job.

Misong Construction is excellent. I can't recommend them enough. I got quotes from multiple contractors, many of which operate as design and build firms. The prices were very very inflated, bordering on unreasonable. I got referred to Misong by a neighbor on my block and I'm glad I picked them. Our scope of work was huge: remodel the entire 2,400 square foot house with structural and foundational work to have an open concept; remodel 3 existing bathrooms; add a new bathroom; remodel entire kitchen and change layout; redo the deck, railings; driveway concrete; rain gutters; painting; drywall; electrical; hvac; fabrication of marble and porcelain in kitchen and fireplace; etc. Considering the scope of work, they were very reasonably priced and worked relatively quick. Michael and his team were very honest. We did have multiple change orders because of unforeseen circumstances that come with working on an old house and changes based on high end construction work. The change orders were transparent and justified well. Even with the change orders, the prices were reasonable. His initial estimate had breakdowns for different phases of construction and had a modest materials allowance.

Their team is great, including their lead workers that helped come up with solutions to problems arising during construction (thanks Pablo); an amazing office manager who dealt with multiple coordination and vendor/materials related concerns, along with day to day items that would come up (thanks Sherly); not to mention they have a a smart architect on staff to help with inspections, and items that might have to be addressed during structural and foundational work (thanks Peter)

Finally, Michael is great. He has been in this business a long time and has a large in house team. They subcontract out some work with their trusted subcontractors. The finished product speaks for itself. Our family home that has been in our family for over 30 years definitely looks like a luxury dream home now. Best part was also seeing how proud Michael and his team was to stand by the finished product. I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again for other work around the house. I have used numerous contractors over the years. I have to say that Misong Construction was and is overall the best. It is rare to find a contractor that communicates well, helps with design, does quality work, provides a fair price and finishes in a timely manner. I would not hesitate to use them again or hesitate to recommend them to anybody else.

Misong Construction renovated a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom rental property and I'm very pleased with the result. Michael understood what I wanted and he delivered. His proposal was clear, detailed and it had the cost breakdown for each trade. We thoroughly went over the scope of work, clarified some items, reviewed the construction schedule and made some adjustments before signing the contract.

Like most construction projects, unforeseen conditions happen such as discontinued laminate flooring or door opening needs to be wider to bring in washer and dryer. Some of the conditions were legitimate changes, but Michael did not ""nickel and dime"" me and he absorbed some cost. As for the larger items, his added cost was fair and reasonable. I had no problems proceeding with the work.

We did have other construction ""hiccups"" such as workers needing access to certain areas but was not communicated to us. It only happened a few instances and my tenants were understanding.

I appreciated Michael's assistant who got me the samples and product information I needed. She also stayed on top of the material orders so the project can continue without delays.

This project was successful because expectations on both Owner and Contractor were understood from the beginning and there was trust. I would definitely work with Misong Construction in future projects.

RETROFIT REVIEW: I was one of the unfortunates that had to do a retrofit on my apartment building. I got quotes far and wide from $120k to $220k (I kid you not!!!). A real estate agent Daniel Shon (a really great guy) who initially introduced me to a company with a $120k bid introduced me to Misong Construction who quoted me (drumroll....)$66,000! I checked them out and decided to go with them. I expected some delays and changes in the quote because one never knows what you find when you open walls in a building built in the 1960's anyway, It came in $7,000 over the price which I WAS HAPPY TO PAY, plus the cost of the engineer, Ahmad Heydar, who was also super great and designed a retrofit that was inventive and cost saving. It took a couple months extra primarily due to scheduling delays with the city inspector and they wrapped it up just in time for the pandemic to hit. I very very highly recommend. My building is up to code!

I have had my roof replaced and later all of the trim on my house painted by Misong Construction. Their pricing was comparable to the quotes from other construction companies that gave me bids. My house was built in 1941 with wood shingles under several layers of roofing. I needed a full tear off all the way down to the framing. Roberto was great at explaining the process and checking in during construction to make sure everything was done quickly, cleaned up every day and protected my interior from falling materials. Two years later, I called them to paint the trim and porch which were peeling badly. Again, Roberto and his crew went above and beyond taking care of details I thought were out of their scope of work. I have recommended Misong to my friends / family and they were also pleased with their work.

These guys have a friendly staff at all levels. I'm not sure what they don't do but they handled my renovation projects with ease. Fast service and they kept to there schedule. I'm happy with the quality of the work and would hire them again.
