1. The clean up was PATHETIC after the job was ""done"". I stepped on 3 nails after they left. I had to go out and buy a magnetic roller then spend over 6 hours in my yard picking up nails. I picked up 4-5 handfuls of nails. Don Menzel did not see a problem with this!

2. My dryer vent was not hooked up. I had to crawl into my attic to hook up the dryer vent (just shy of 1 hour).

3. The half way repaired hole in my ceiling (I'm not uncertain how they did this one).

4. My ""signed"" agreed upon contract said ""weather wood shingles - brownish color"". They did not install ""weather wood"" they installed ""silver bearch - white shingles"". They even tried to make me think it was my idea because they used hand written notes after we had a phone conversation.

Does a hand written note after a phone call cancel out a written agreed upon Contract""?
Don Menzel blew me off week after week after week until my wife told me to ""let it go"" after we paid for Weather wood shingles, vents to be hooked up, no holes in my ceiling, and for a proper clean up.

NONE of which I received from Menzel Roofing.
Menzel Roofing refused to do the right thing.
Menzel Roofing blew me off time & time again.
Menzel Roofing tried to say the issues were my fault, not theirs.
Menzel Roofing then said the white shingle is ""energy certified"", there may be a tax break (There is/was NOT) and my electric bill should (SHOULD) be lower due to the ""reflectivity"" of the white shingle.
Menzel Roofing did not ""offer"" to even attempt to do the right thing.

Thinks to my wife, Menzel Roofing did not have to answer to their lack of professionalism. I was ready to get lawyers involved to go to court.

Menzel Roofing got off easy because my wife is a good woman..

Do Not let Menzel Roofing near your home! If or should I say when you have an issue DON MENZEL will blow you off like it did me.

When we learned that our roof needs to be replaced, we were terrified. Don made the whole experience, a breeze. From planning, advising and budgeting to scheduling and installation, everything was simple, on time, clean and strait forward. In and out in 3 days and the roof looks amazing.

We hired Menzel roofing to install a PBR 5 rib metal roof, did not turn out well. Material showed up on January 7, work started weeks later and final inspection was done 95 days later. We had issues with crews leaving trash and debris around our property and a leak that caused ceiling damage and ruined a surveillance camera. We found multiple defects in the new roof once they said they were done both at day 11 and 95. Details below.
The same week work was to begin Don Menzel told me he lost their original crew (they ghosted him"", 1 week later they found a new crew that they assured us was better. Not the case, 5 days turned into 11 then 95. We found multiple issues after day 11 and agreed to meet with them and their crew leader to discuss the corrections to be done. The crew leader agreed to would personally be here and supervise the work. This never happened, that crew ""ghosted"" them as I was told by Menzel. They found a third crew to come out weeks later to correct the problems that we had identified. Day 92 they told us they were done making all the corrections and the roof was installed properly and according to the manufacturer guidelines. I still found issues, both with quality of work and code compliance. BTW, look up how roofing inspections are done in the city of Sanford, the roofer basically inspects himself. Moving on, Don Menzel was debating our findings and stating that we had to pay him as per his contract and the fact the city issued a passing final inspection. I asked that they be as patient as we had been and give me some time to have a third party inspect the work. They tried repeatedly to get us to pay the balance due, even sending a bill for late charges. Unfortunately I made another bad choice and the company I hired to inspect and report the findings took 6 weeks, produced no real report and disappeared. luckily I was referred to a consulting /inspection company proficient in metal to come out assess, document and produce a report. It is 37 pages long and spells out more issues than I could believe. In short, I would steer clear of Menzel roofing as they hire subs that are unqualified, sloppy, treat you property with no regard and worst, cause damage to your property and yourself as well.
