McCormack did an excellent job completing our Solar Roof. Ana at McCormack was great in communicating with us each step of the process. I highly recommend McCormack for their customer service and great quality.

Second Solar Update:

Finished in August of 2024. After installing the roof and solar (see below for details of that experience), the readings on our Tesla app and their Enphase app were off by 10kWh. They would not send someone out to make sure their app was reporting production properly unless I paid an additional $700+. Long story short I installed my own third-party monitoring system and figure out their install problem. It was an extremely simple fix (ended up taking 30 sec once someone knowledgeable looked at it [thank you Solar Optimum] ... new solar wires should have been routed thru existing Tesla CTs in the panel) ... after months of back and forth with McCormack tech support that didn't understand the problem. TBF roof *seems* solid and solar seems to be operating as it should now. 1-star for unreasonably difficult experience.

Solar Update:

I have dropped the 2 star roof to 1 star with solar. When they finally installed my solar (7 months after the contract end date), they told me inspection would be a day or two later. A week later, no inspection so I call the company ""I'm sorry, voicemail is full"". Then I emailed the project manager Edher who told me he would check on everything and get back to me that day. He didn't, nor the next day, nor the next, nor the next. I called the company and ""I'm sorry the voicemail box is full"".

So I tried emailing him again asking him for the update and he never got back to me. Fast forward to almost another MONTH after the solar installation and I call the company ... ""Voicemail is full"", called Edher's direct dial ""voicemail is full"". Texting any old number I could find and emailing and cc'ing whoever I can find and I get an email back with an invoice for payment.

Ah, so then someone else calls me and apologizes for the delay and doesn't know why Edher didn't get back to me but she'll check on it. She also sends me an invoice the same day for a progress payment and then tells me they can't call for an inspector without a progress payment. Would have been nice to know a month ago, while I'm losing an entire 8 months now of solar production. So at this point I was livid. All they had to do was call for an inspection for the next day and then collect the final check literally the next day, but they said they won't call for final inspection until I pay the invoice they literally just gave me that day (and this is after I already paid for the roof in full as soon as I was invoiced for it, clearly I pay my bills). And to boot, they don't take cc, so I have to pay in check or cash because zelle won't transfer that much money. That means I literally have to mail a check to them since they are located in orange county.

I asked why no one ever mentioned this until a month after the project was finished she said she didn't know.

If you still want to use these people (I have no idea why you would) at least you know what you're signing up for.


Initial review:

First, take a look at how many 1 star reviews there are this year on Yelp for this company. Based on my experience, these are not fake. We signed a contract at the beginning of the year to begin 2 months later for roofing and solar. We are now 6 months after signing the contract and part 1 of the project was just completed (roof replacement). I asked for an update on the solar part (which I was told before we were waiting for approval from the city) and it turns out the company hasn't even submitted my solar plans yet to the city! 6 months later!!! Not only that, they *just* told me they don't even have the information they need yet to submit the plans!

As for the part of the project already completed...

We have a delicate screened in porch roof (it's made of screen, not normal roofing material) and specifically pointed that out and asked the roofers to be very careful that roofing materials don't get thrown off the back of the house. Despite my repeated reminders (including directly to the demo crew), after the demo, the screen on the top of the roof had a bunch of nails on it and they broke one of the screen doors as well as somehow ripping one of the screens on a window and decided not to tell us about it. I had to fish the nails off the screen with a magnet to avoid ripping the screen.

The company was good about paying for fixing everything though (but who knows what other problems I didn't notice?). There are also nails everywhere on the ground from the demo, their demo crew did not clean it up. After the disastrous demo crew, which the company admitted was careless, next came the roofers themselves. In contrast to everything else in the company, the roofers were excellent. They are the only reason it is not a 1 star review.

If you are in need of a new roof, I recommend looking elsewhere. If you contact McCormack a year before you need work done, and you don't mind being ignored, then they may do a good job on your roof when they finally get around to it.

McCormack contacted us and got our issues resolved. It took a while but our solar project has now been approved by our City and Edison. So we are good now. Thanks To Ana at McCormack for resolving our issues.

Had a new solar roof installed by McCormack Roofing.
Installation crew was on time, worked hard, cleaned up afterwards, was friendly, and was easy to communicate with.
Project manager handled the logistics well but did not convey agreed upon details to the crew and did not QA the work.
Some cosmetic issues existed upon completion but I was able to fix the minor ones and McCormack stood by their work and resolved the larger issue.

Did a great job, on time, after the first contractor made promises he could not keep. Lying contractors and labor have been a huge disappointment in the last couple years. Not McCormack, they did their job for a fair price.

Ana was absolutely wonderful. She handles all the calls and directs you to the appropriate place and takes all the complaints ,. She handles everything with poise ,integrity ,and character. She deserves a raise that's for sure. One of these days. I'd like to meet her. She's one heckuva woman.!$. Scott COOPER, a foreman that runs the crews that do the roofing is one hard worker. He runs between two and five jobs at a time. He does not leave that job site till it is done perfect and cleaned up thoroughly. He deserves a raise also!$ rich Newport Beach

Ana, our roof works fantastic. The last. 3 days the weather has been very warm. Our entire house is cool. We don't turn on the AC.

The insulation, the fiber board and the expensive poly treatment has done the job. We have lived here 26 years, the last 3 years have been miserable. Not now.

I met with Mike Takahashi and was very impressed with his professionalism and understanding of our Church needs. We completed 2 projects together and everything went perfectly. McCormack completed another project for our Church about 5 years ago and everything is holding up nicely.
I would recommend them to anyone looking for roofing.
I know the last 12 months were difficult with the massive storms but McCormack kept us informed and completed the job in a reasonable timeframe. Ana Vargas was a big part of that.
I will definitely use McCormack in any future projects.
