We needed a replacement roof on a home on the Sonoma Coast. We saw a Matlock truck working on a nearby home and gave them a call. Sylvester came out and looked the job over and made a bid. The bid was reasonable and we accepted.

Matlock completed the job as proposed and actually went the extra mile by hauling some additional demolition debris away and adding additional downspouts on the new gutters. The work was well done and they left us happy customers. They even took a couple of extra days to complete the job as additional repair work was needed.

I recommend Matlock Roofing--particularly for homes on the coast.

I don't like writing bad reviews and rarely do so. But when in need this winter after a redwood branch punched thru the roof of one of my Guerneville rentals, I called Mattlock for help. They made an appointment to come out and give me an estimate. I waited two hours they never showed. I emailed them and they said they would set up another appointment. They never did.
When in need, don't call Mattlock, they will not be there for you.

If you are considering a new roof, you must consider Matlock Roofing. Our end to end experience with Matlock was one of the best in our 40 years of employing area contractors. From Janet taking care of the permit process to the last shingle nailed, we could not have been more pleased.

If our 100 year old cabin having 4 layers of old roofing with multiple peak & shed elevations wasn't difficult enough, add in 100 stairs getting to it and you have one challenging roof job. Silvester and the amazing Matlock crew handled it all like bosses and we could not be more impressed with the results.

The crew arrived at the same time each day. The material removal and delivery logistics were right on target. The attention to detail, craftsmanship and pride of work was evident throughout the week. They went above and beyond, fixing areas we didn't know needed attention and even painting the vent pipes to match the roof. The crew went out of their way, leaving each day with the property clean and neat. We really appreciated the overall professionalism. Silvester was a joy to work with. This man knows his roofing and how to satisfy customers. He and Chuy kept us fully informed at all times and met every expectation set.

We ended up having a large amount of additional T&M, re-sheathing nearly 70% of the roof. The extra cost incurred was very reasonable for the amount of material and labor involved. We now have a safe, waterproof and fully vented roof that will last for the rest of our lives.

Sylvester demonstrated daily the professionalism, punctuality, craftsmanship, and mindfulness that one looks for in the trades. He ran a tight ship, yet he is very pleasant to be around. The whole crew was well behaved--not something you can always count on with construction crews (as I know from being on one a time or two). As one who has some experience in construction, I was absolutely impressed as to the workmanship and value that Sylvester delivered... And, he did so in the number of days he estimated before commencing. When we thought we had some trouble, Sylvester was responsive and lifted it right off our shoulders. If I were running a business, I would certainly be tempted to poach him... Again, deserving every bit of this 5 star review. Thanks again to all you guys! I almost forgot to mention the most important part to most people; the money. I can tell you the bid was better than reasonable, and there wasn't a bunch of add-ons, and the T & M bill was more than fair; so, please add the term Value to this review, and another to tie them together... Integrity!

I was very pleased with the work that Matlock Roofing did replacing the roof, gutters and downspouts. Sylvester was very quick to make an appointment with me to give me a bid on the work to be done. His quote was the best of the three that I received. The crew did an excellent job and the roof looks great. I would highly recommend Matlock Roofing.

We had our roof replaced about 5 years ago by Matlock. So far it has held. the price was right and the work was done and completed per contract. That's where the satisfaction stopped. Since then, we have called them numerous times about the improper placement of the downspout hole in the roof. Anytime it rains we arrive home to see a puddle on the low spot of the roof. One time someone came out and told my wife to just sweep the roof off regularly and you wont have this problem. Good advice as we live in a forest and leaves on roofs need to be cleared to keep the downspout clear. However the down spout hole is nowhere near the ""lowspot"" of the roof so even in the abscence of leaves, a puddle will form. That's not what we hoped for in a roofing company.. The downspout hole needs to be move to the lowest point of the roof and they will not acknowledge that nor remedy the problem. I would not recommend.

Matlock Roofing put a new roof on my house 15 years ago and has come out to do an addition for me about 8 years ago. I've never had a leak until yesterday but that was due to a 60+ foot tree that came crashing down during our last storm here in Caz. Called them and they wre out in just a couple of hours clearing the debris and patching the 4 holes in my roof. I was dry last night and can concentrate now on the interior mess. These folks have been great over the years, they backup their work, are reliable, dependable, and really know roofs here in the forest. Thanks! Cazman
