We have just had our roof finished by Massie Roofing and it has been a wonderful experience. Communication with Eric was excellent throughout. Even more important, the work itself was completed without a hitch, and that in spite of scorchingly hot weather. The positive experience began with the first day of the project: Massie's demolition team, ""the wreckers,"" came and did their job in a veritable whirlwind of activity. There must have been a dozen of them. And make no mistake, it is a very messy, noisy business (as it has to be). What blew us away, however, was that after that first day, when the dust had settled, we found our gardens immaculate, incredibly clean. We were deeply impressed by this. The positive experience only continued as the roofers, Jesus, Abel and Sergio, came and did a beautiful job on our home and garage - each day of the 2 1/2 week project they were unfailingly polite and conscientious, and their finished work is, as I say, beautiful. In fact, we've had so many compliments from neighbours it's liable to go to our heads! And once again, with everything finished, they have left the place immaculately clean. Over the two plus weeks Eric came to check on the progress nearly every day and communicated with us every step of the way. We are very satisfied customers and cannot recommend Massie enough!

So it's raining, and once again water is pouring through my ceiling. I had them put on an entirely new roof in August of 2008. About 6 months later they needed to fix a leak when the first rain occurred. Later that year another leak occurred in a different room. There was a reoccurring leak in the same spot over the years which resulted in repeated damage to the ceiling. Ultimately, the Better Business Bureau was involved. They attempted to fix it again but did not. I was woken up this morning by my child reporting that water was pouring through his ceiling. I have experienced significant distress over the years due to Massie's inability to properly perform the service I paid for. Please choose another roofing company and avoid my experience.

Have had Massie Roofing for a couple of small leaks over the years, and Eric is very polite, honest, and the jobs were done reasonably.

Massie Roofing came highly recommended by two friends who used them for services. They did an amazing job in replacing the roof to our home and garage. Eric provided an estimate in a timely manner, laying out options to fit our budget. They gave a time frame of one week to get the job completed and by the end of the week all of the work was finished to our satisfaction. Eric provided clear communication from day one and was responsive to our questions. We are so happy with the look and color of our new roof.

Called for a repair last year guy came out and I waited weeks for a report we did the repairs. The next year it leaked again. I called several times and they told me someone would call me back and schedule an inspection. They never called back it has been a month.

Unfortunately I had the same experience as many of those who wrote earlier. Eric came out, was very knowledgeable, and promised an estimate. Despite my phoning twice and emailing once, he never sent an estimate. The second time I called a woman answered and said, with a discouraged voice, ""He never sent an estimate? I'll remind him.""

I had used Massie for years. It seems to have changed ownership - in the past it was an older man who came out, was very knowledgeable, and took care of things immediately.

Seriously disappointing

Eric finally got back to me and said ""we are able to provide an estimate at this time""

I emailed back:

Seriously?
I wish I could thank you for the reply, but after a solid year of waiting for a proposal from you, this is all I get?
Is there a reason you are not presenting an estimate ""at this time'?
Is there a reason you never returned any of my calls? I called steadily twice a week for months
Is there a reason you never even answered my email?

I would have totally understood if you had just told me you weren't interested in my job. But, you never did. You just kept me hanging.
I am really perplexed on how you can do business this way.

I'm not a big fan of Yelp. I feel most people only use it to complain about a vendor or falsely praise one.
In this case however and based on my frustration in dealing with you that I will be posting this experience on Yelp and detailing this whole issue.
As an architect, I am asked frequently to recommend various building sub-contractors. Massie Roofing will no longer be on my list of recommendations.

I'm not mad, ....just very disappointed.
I hope your present customers are fairing better than I have.

Eric came out right away to see what we needed done and was very accommodating when I wanted the job completed over two days (it could have been done in one), because I was trying to solve an attic rat problem. I wanted them to uncover the hole under the Spanish tile the rats had been using to get in and out, then allow me to cover it late at night after the rats had gone out for their nightly hunting. I didn't want rats trapped in the house. It worked great. I temporarily closed up the hole at 11pm and the next morning the roofers closed it up more securely before laying down the new tar paper and replacing the tile. Thanks Eric for your cooperation!

I called Massie because they had done work on other parts of the roof and I was very happy with the previous jobs.

Same experience as other 1 star reviews. Took the day off from work to meet Eric For an estimate. 3 follow-up calls and several months later, nothing. No response, no call back, no explanation. Total waste of time.

From my end, it looks like business is so good that Massie / Eric can pick and choose their jobs and blow everyone else off. With so many 1 star reviews, I wouldn't risk using these guys. You'll be stuck with their roof for the next 25 years which is a really long time to wait for a call back when it starts to leak.

Check out all of the other 1 star reviews (including the ""not recommended"" section). This is a consistent known issue with Massie Roofing.

Our experience was similar to Melissa K's -- Eric came out, spent over an hour talking to us and giving us recommendations and measuring our roof. Then he disappeared and never returned our phone calls. What a waste of time, and a complete lack of professional courtesy. In retrospect I suspect that the job was simply too complicated for Eric and his team.
