consumer beware!!!!
had them come out to our home to do a repair post Ian last year. they sent out a male and female to do the fix last August. Everything was fine until Milton came through last week and we had shingles come off our roof. What are the odds it's the SAME shingles that were just repaired from Mark Kaufman?! Had another company come out today to give us a quote and to look at the damage and sure enough, crappy job confirmed and also added they did not even remove the damaged shingles, they just nailed them down again!! They have no responsibility what so ever for it. So.. I hope they feel the $900 was worth loosing a future customer that would need to replace a whole roof at some point! Horrible people! Dont even deserve 1 star, had to add something to post:(
Jeff H.Roof still leaking after 4 times of ""fixing"" it. Not good at all at returning calls. Up in arms here. Not an insurance job even.
The salesperson was nowhere to be seen after the sale. The company did not deliver as promised - their motto ""A job well done"" is a farce. Very sloppy work and very unprofessional - their crews even broke 12+ pavers because of negligence that they still refuse to change. And, to top it all, the roof was leaking during the first storm after they had finished their work. Will not recommend them to my worst enemy.
Roof replacement.
The salesperson was rude and as a rule rarely returned phone calls. When we did speak her standard answer no matter what my request was.
Rarely received call back by the office staff.
I do acknowledge that Hurricane Ian affected all of us. However long after the storm had passed, communication did not improve.
Lastly, they caused over $1800 damage to my AC unit and refused to reimburse me. I have spoken to a Florida attorney and was advised I should have been reimbursed. The Mark Kaufman person I spoke with blamed the damage on the age of my house. Why blame my house? According to them the damage was caused because the location of the portion of the AC that was damaged was in the wrong location.
One of the worst experiences I've had. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I would have given this company a zero star if allowed.
Kaufman replaced our tile roof that had been damaged in Hurricane Ian. We were impressed with the level of communication before, during and after the job was complete. As is typical with construction there were a few hiccups (one weather related and one due to a subcontractor delivering tile). In both instances the issues were promptly resolved. The workers were industrious and respectful of our neighbors despite having to work in very high temperatures. My neighbors were complimenting them, not complaining!
The crew who actually did the job was absolutely great, no complaints whatsoever, they work hard, always on time, good quality, just great.
The companies communication is just the worst you can imagine.
Complaints:
1. Monday 16th 8am Brianna could not make picture of roof to wall: after that nobody came or called anymore, even though she promised
2. A promise by Amanda on 23rd : We are also going to take roof to wall photos the 10/24: nobody showed up or called
3. 2 Trucks with materials showed up a day before the job, without any notice (was glad I was home)
4. driver delivery trucks also complaints about communication issues Kaufman
5. planning of inspector went completely wrong
6. affidavit to county was filled out late and/or forgot
7. Promise was job done in 2 days, now after 3 days still not finished
8. Communication in general really bad after signing contract
9. Job start was first promised on Monday 30th, then Wednesday (by Keith) then finally Thursday (Kara) through various persons, who did not seem to know about each other
10. Robby told me Josh Barnes will call me, nobody called, so called myself (Nov 1st)
11. Antonio the roofing crew also complaints about communication issues
12. Amanda and Cheri do not answer emails, texts, or return phonecalls/voicemails not at all, or not in timely manner
13. Nov 2nd: Josh Barnes promised to call me back early in morning, but didn't so I called 10:30am
14. Main issue: too many people (total 9 so far) on 1 project, nobody talks with each other about status, in the end they all do their own thing
15. The only one who works as a team, is the Mexican team (with Antonio Perez) who does the actual job, on time, fast, and good work. Also don't talk too much, just did their job. They know what they are doing.
16. Inspector planned 5 days later, all because of lack in communication and they could not make picture. Which means the team had to come back again to finish job after inspection (unnecessary delay)
17. They work with Acculynx messaging system, this does not work at all (if answer emails, the email get bounced)
18. Every email they send, is without supervisor or acculynx system in CC, so nobody knows what's going on
19. Send message on Monday 6th that job is not finished, so cannot sign.
20. On nov 7th at 5pm, ""they"" told Robby the supervisor the job is not finished (1 day later), and they have to finish job asap. While the team already finished that morning.
21. On he documents I had to sign on Monday 6th (job was not finished yet!), my name was spelled wrong, so had to decline signing
22. Amanda stopped answering texts since oct 23rd
23. The online portal they are using is useless, and they do not update with photos, project progress, or upload all documents like permit, or my signed documents, nothing

Mark Kaufman Roofing did a complete new roof replacement to my house, Project Manager Brandon Satterfield and his entire crew did an excellent job! Very well pleased with the workmanship and the new roof!
We had roof damage from Ian like many people so we got multiple quotes and picked Mark Kaufman Roofing. They found the exact shingles we wanted. Tiffany Steinfath did a great job with the paper work and scheduling. TJ Oeinck was the boss of the crew and what a great guy he is. He gave us his personal mobile number and always answered any questions. His crew did a perfect job and even repaired some damaged gutters, soffits and facia. When the job was done our property was completely cleaned up. All this and they came in under the quoted price! Thanks so much, Randy & Melissa
Kali R.Robbie and his crew were fantastic! Robbie responded promptly to our every need and the crew did a beautiful job, our new roof looks incredible!
This company sent a salesperson to my home who claimed she went up to the top of the roof and showed me the photos. She said a new roof would cost $70,000 (about double the price of other estimates). The only problem was: the photos taken by the salesperson were not of my roof. I've had two other roofers show me aerial footage from a drone, and have also had an eyeball assessment of the damage. There's no doubt that the photos from Kaufman were fake and were purposely shown to me to close a sale.
Then, the salesperson asked me to get the Declaration's Page from my homeowner's insurance policy. She immediately dialed the number for Progressive Insurance on her phone and gave it to me to do the talking. She told me to tell the Claims Dept. that the roof was damaged in Sept. 2022 (after Hurricane Ian), and I received a claim number. Then, the salesperson assured me that I wouldn't even have to pay the $5,000 deductible. She said, ""Don't worry - there are ways around that too.""
Then, she asked me to choose an attorney and said that one of them had never lost a case. Naturally, I chose him. Next, I signed a Kaufman contract with a claim for $43,000 (what happened to $70,000?) which would be extracted from the insurance company. So, magically, all costs to me went away, and Kaufman was going to deal with my insurance company who would be paying the entire amount.
Afterward, I called a friend, who just had his roof replaced. When I told him about Kaufman, he said, ""OH NO! Cancel that contract as quickly as possible!"" Then, he explained that he had been involved in the same scheme with another company. He told me the insurance companies are catching on to this ""technique"" and are not quick to pay for claims that weren't reported earlier (like after Hurricane Ian). My friend also told me that these companies tend to remove the existing roof, and put a tarp over the house until the insurance company agrees to pay for the new roof.
Anyway, I read a bunch of horror stories about customers who had tarps over their homes while waiting for the insurance company to pay for the new roof. The problem is: Kaufman leads you through the process of filing a claim, and then ""your attorney"" fights with the insurance company, which may take many months to resolve. In most cases, the company drops the insured person after this scheme comes to a conclusion. Then, it's nearly impossible to obtain wind or homeowner's insurance ever again.
So, thanks to FL law, I was able to cancel the contract within (3) business days, however the cancellation had to be in writing for them to accept it. So, I had to send this notice of cancellation via overnight mail for it to arrive on time. That's because after (3) days, Kaufman has the right to charge 15% of the total cost of the roof ($43,000) unless a signed, original cancellation notice is received at their office within (3) days.
Just one more thing: I tried calling the salesperson that same day and the next day - and her voice-mail was full. Then, I called Kaufman's office to ask how they ""get around"" my paying the $5,000 deductible. The person who answered the phone said that there is NO WAY around the $5,000 deductible - and that amount would be paid by me. This was a contradiction to what the salesperson represented to me.
Conclusion: There's no free lunch; this type of conveyor-belt maneuvering by some roofing companies appears to be unethical and possibly fraudulent (in my opinion). Anyway, the insurance companies are quite aware of these types of claims, and there's no assurance they'll pay a dime (and then, they'll cancel your policy). Finally, I found another roofing company who is charging a total of $2,800 for a repair to my roof (with a warantee). The owner of that company said, ""that's all that is needed.""
