I am writing this review on my behalf of my father who had the best experience working with Mario. During the recent rains, we came home one afternoon to find the roof leaking in our living room. My father was on the phone calling different companies late in the day and Mario offered to come out the next morning to give us an estimate. He came out, examined the issue and took care of the leak promptly. His fee was reasonable and he was a complete pleasure to work with. He takes pride in his work, is very responsive to calls and we recommend him very highly!!

Mario and his crew just put a new roof on our house. They worked very quickly. They did a very good job. Each day they cleaned up their work area, including blowing debris away, picking debris out of trees, and putting things back where they were before they moved them. They are friendly, prompt, and were flexible in their scheduling when the rains came. They moved us around in their schedule to accommodate the solar installers coming out the next week. Their price was good as well. Very impressed by them and their work.

The bottom line: I recommend Mario Contreras Roofing without reservation. Mario is capable, fair, and reliable. Get him up on your sad old roof and give him a few minutes to recommend a fix. With each bid from any contractor, you'll learn a lot and make a better decision in the end.

Contreras Roofing did provide the lowest bid (of 6 bids) but that's only part of the reason I chose Mario to re-roof my home. He has only one crew and is part of that crew. He estimates the job himself and then is on site and available to discuss unforeseen problems that may arise.

Many roofing companies have an estimator and several crews. Things you discuss with the estimator may not make it to the crew on your roof weeks later. I am more comfortable with a smaller operation, having experienced it both ways. Mario has been a roofer and is still a roofer. He's knowledgeable, had solutions for my problem areas, arrived on time, was very accommodating in shifting work to a part of the roof away from the area over the bedroom of a family member who works nights. He left the site clean and orderly, not just at the end of the job but at the end of each day.

Most roofs are simple... a couple of pitches with a valley or two. My roof as a result of remodeling is complex. Mostly 3:12 but 3 areas of almost flat required tying in different materials. My roof has 5 skylights and and two chimneys, all requiring new flashing and some sheathing replacement. There was a problem area where a building addition attached to the main house. Mario described how best to deal with each of these areas.

All contracts specify an hourly rate and material costs for unseen water damage...there usually is some...especially around skylights and eaves. Upon completion, when I asked Mario for the final amount, it was just the bid price. ..no add-ons. He did minor repairs in several areas and did not charge for it. ( Of course, I do expect that more extensive repairs would be charged. )

I did have an issue with the treatment of the flashing on two of the skylights. Very minor and I would have fixed it myself but no more kneeling for me. I called Mario and he was here the next day to correct it. Give him a shot at bidding your job. You'll like working with him and the job will be done right.
