I had Lon Smith Roofing replace my roof in September 2016. The salesman was excellent - very professional, responsive, informative and offered a fair price. I had looked at 2 other roofing companies and neither salesmen were even close. The actual work was done by a crew of 5-6 with a Lon Smith inspector ""overseeing"" the project. The job took 2 days. The work was fair to poor. The crew worked past dark each day and left the work sight in terrible condition after the first day. I believe that the inspector was overworked and did not coordinate his visit(s) to the work sight with me. I had to call and complain about the condition the crew left my home after the first day. After that, I worked with the inspector's supervisor. It took over about a month to complete the project due to technical problems with a power vent Lon Smith had replaced. The supervisor was excellent and worked hard to make sure that I was completely satisfied before even mentioning an invoice. On one day, the supervisor had called in 3 different contractors to make sure the job was completed professionally. During the roof replacement, I was very frustrated and disappointed but in the end, I was satisfied. Had the initial inspector been more present during the roof replacement, the entire process would have gone more smoothly.

We have relied on Lon Smith Roofing (LSR) twice since 2010 to replace a hail-damaged roof on our home of nearly 25 years. In both cases, we have been more than entirely satisfied with the cost & quality of materials used, workmanship, and timeliness of project completion. Each member of the LSR team was professional. We would not hesitate to turn to LSR if we suffered another event requiring replacement of our roof. Likewise, we enthusiastically refer all readers of this review to consider LSR for their roofing needs.

I fully intended to hire Lon Smith Roofing, based on name recognition mostly; wanting a local roofer that would be around in future. But after telephone conversation with rude, evasive salesman who literally hung-up on me, I will look elsewhere.
How dare I ask about price per square!! He refused to give any kind of pricing if I wasn't willing to have him come over and ""set down with me for awhile""--even though I had a detailed drawing by the insurance adjuster with specifics regarding amount of squares; ridge length, turbine replacement, etc. This is not my first rodeo. These ""sit-downs"" tend to be lengthy and pressure-filled.
I have four properties needing new roofs. Whadaya bet I can find another company to give me a ROUGH estimate of cost per square of high-impact shingles, installed, without having he or she as a house guest for part of the day?

We had to wait for quite a while for the work to be started, but it was understandable due to the number of damaged houses in our area after a recent storm. Prior to signing up with Lon Smith we were told how the work would be completed, such as protection of landscape, keeping a clean work area, cleaning up upon completion, etc... but that's not exactly what transpired.
They made no effort to protect the landscape, the non-work related trash (i.e. fast food wrappers, drink bottles, etc) piled up to the point that it started blowing around the neighborhood, they threw roofing materials off the roof and punctured my trash can and tore a hole in my outdoor grill cover, they unscrewed the satellite dish and let it ""dangle"" by the cable for a couple of days and it didn't work thereafter (had to call the service provider and have them fix it), they completed the roof on the house and promptly sent me an invoice without re-roofing the shed and replacing the base plate on the weather vane (which were itemized work items on the contract), then after a week or so they returned to finish the work. Upon completion, they literally ""dragged"" a magnet around the perimeter of the house to pick up nails, but it has been easy for my 2-year-old to find numerous nails throughout the yard.
The finished product seems to be good but it didn't progress the way they had explained prior to signing a contract.

Thank you, Lon Smith, for our roof install and stellar customer service. Garrett Seals came to our home and walked us through the costs for a new roof, including breaking down our insurance claim process. Our roof was promptly installed in one day. Although we needed a minor repairs to our vaulted ceiling, Lon Smith handled the repairs - at their cost - graciously and promptly. Following our recommendation, our neighbors have also used Lon Smith. Thank you for helping us navigate the roof installation process; hopefully we won't have to use you again soon, but if we do, we'll know who to call!

It wasn't the work I had a problem with. After having signed a contract to have the roof done for a certain amount and having the work done they sent back an amended contract that added basically 30% to the original price. Apparently the cost of labor and materials can fluctuate that much for a twelve hundred square foot house in just a three month period. I guess a business that's been around for 40 years still hasn't learned what it's costs might be. Or they're unscrupulous and unprincipled. Can't they stick to a deal they signed? Apparently not.

Lon Smith Roofing was amazing! We own a rental home in Fort Worth and needed a new roof. We live in the Austin area and don't get a lot of time to drive to the home. Lon Smith Roofing gave us a bid, matched the insurance quote, did the work and clean up, and only needed one trip up for us to sign off on the work. I would recommend them to any of our friends and family.

I used Lon Smith to replace by roof that was damaged in the recent hail storms. The sales representative (David) was AWESOME!!! The roofers did a good job on the roof (from what I can tell from the street), were friendly, answered all my questions and did a good job cleaning up the debris. However, after calling to inquire about when I would be receiving the invoice, I was shocked to learn that the price had jumped by some $800 from the price quoted on the contract I signed. When I called to inquire I was informed it was because the roof was installed in June. (Now mind you it was not my fault they couldn't get to me until June, the contract was signed on May 8th...the roof wasn't installed until June 16). At no time between the signing of the contract and the installation was I notified by anyone at Lon Smith that the price had increased. Two weeks later, I get a letter asking me to sign to authorize the price increase which I REFUSED. I had to call no less than 3 times to get the issue resolved. Patricia in the production department is just flat out rude and condesending and was upset when I protested the increase. I was also told that they would credit me $100 per referral. I had to call no less than 3 times to finally get SOME (not all of the credit). I have still yet to receive a corrected invoice and then yesterday after 5 p.m. I get a voicemail from Patricia stating that they would remove the credit I had been given if the bill is not paid. I immediately called her back (within 1 minute of her call) and she refused to come to the phone. To make a long story while the quality of the work is good, the customer service in the office (especially after installation, needs SIGNIFICANT improvement. A couple of people I referred have since changed their minds about using them after hearing of my experience.

The people from Lon Smith, from the sales rep thru the man who helped with clean up and everyone involved were great. Extremely thorough roof workers put in very long hours in oppressive heat and were always polite and courteous. The roof looks great too!
