Recommended Customer Reviews

We got bids from four companies to replace our entire home solar array. Chad and Liberty Bay Solar responded right away with a fair bid and good followup. We needed to replace the roof as well, and Liberty Bay Solar worked seamlessly with our roofer to ensure that the old system was dismantled promptly and new system installed without damage to the new roof. Chad took extra time to slightly rearrange the placement of panels to better maximize system efficiency. When our roofing company finished their project without repairing a small area of dry rot, Chad volunteered to come fix it himself! Chad is easy to work with and not pushy. Recommended!

Chad and his team are amazing. They were Easy to work with around our hectic schedules. They helped us find the solar panel layout we would need to power our house, and they also helped us get a new roof to support them.
Overall the process was extremely easy as a consumer from start to finish, and they were able to finish before expected.
You couldn't ask for a better experience. If you are in the market for solar, it's worth your time to meet with the Liberty Bay team!

As a response to your comment:
""The day of your project install there was no owner, project or property manager present""
I have informed you that I will not be onsite that day, but gave your people the contact information for the Project Manager and Owners from the General Contractor's firm and told you they have full capacity to speak on my behalf if I was not able to be reached. They were onsite the day of the installation and inspection.
""so Liberty Bay Solar reached out to you to bring to your attention that because both buildings had 2 separate meters each, we recommended installing 4 separate systems, allowing independent monitoring. You agreed with this decision. ""
Yes, we discussed this and to confirm, I wrote you in an email on July 3rd 2018 I did say 'we will need 4 separate systems for R Street...'
""PG&E requires a signed job final inspection card from the city which we submitted. The system we installed was on time, to code and operational.""
True, but it was not interconnected to PGE because a PTO was not provided since the NEM application was pending for over a year as a result of a job card with mistakes being submitted to PGE. Even if the City made a mistake, it was submitted by your company to PGE without checking it. I would take responsibility that it was my understanding that an operational solar system will include a PTO by PGE which will allow us to sell excess energy back to PGE. In your definition apparently it meant that if it powered the house, the work is done and interconnection to PGE was not your problem but rather an 'extra service' that you provided.
""When you reached out to me with concerns via email I responded that I would reach out to PG&E to see what was missing. I reached out to PG&E many times to get a response. You asked for updates at the beginning of every week and I responded explaining that I had yet to hear back but would keep checking. A week before Christmas I went to the city and asked for a copy of the job card again to see if we missed something. After looking at the card I noticed that the application to PG&E showed 2 solar systems instead of the 4 ""
This is because your company submitted 2 sets of NEM applications instead of the required 4 sets for each individual systems that we all agreed upon. If you do not submit a NEM application for each meter, how is PGE supposed to know that there are 4 systems instead of 4?
""The city clerk admitted it was a mistake by the clerk that typed the job card. ""
It may have been a typo by the City, but your company submitted it as is without checking it, correct?
""He asked a city inspector to re-review, make the change and sign a new job card, which I personally submitted to PG&E to update your NEM application. It was because of this that you ultimately received the PG&E approval via email. My company is cc'd on that email, because the permit is under Liberty Bay Solar. Another solar company could not have made those changes.""
Assuming what you are saying is correct, it took the other solar company a few hours to figure out what was wrong with the application and had a solution and the corrections sent within the same day. It took you over 6 months and me emailing and calling you every week / every other week to figure out what was wrong with you making no effort to reach out to us. Now it has taken 12 months from installation to finally be interconnected with PGE.
""this one wasn't a typical install and required more attention from both sides, as a project manager and a business I hope you can see that.""
I fully understand this, but I am more upset about the method in which you dealt with the situation, which was deflection and avoidance which is not ok for me. I'm trying to deal with the situation, which was to get the system connected to PGE, and the only thing you did was trying to avoid the situation.
""We stayed under your negotiated price and worked to provide the level of service we expect from Liberty Bay Solar.""
Actually, you requested more money because you said you need to rework/rewire the system, and we paid that right away. You knew in advance that there was construction onsite. If it was going to be an issue, 'you' should have told us that we should wait until the final inspection on the construction was over to install the solar. Yet, your company said it was ok. I was even ok with getting you paid for the additional work since mistakes do happen. Again, you are the professional installer here, not us and we ended up paying more.

These guys did fantastic work on our home in Berkeley. I whole-heartedly recommend Chad and his crew to anyone looking for solar energy. Liberty Bay reroofed our south side and installed a modern, powerful system that can be monitored from anywhere in the world. We were very impressed with their politeness and workmanship as well as with Chad's honest feedback on our needs and options.

We chose Liberty Bay Solar for our new system and we are more than pleased that we did. We interviewed nine solar companies given our lack of knowledge of solar energy systems in general, different solar configurations on the roof for maximum efficiencies and different qualities of solar panels that each company offered and other questions we felt pertinent in deciding the best company to go with. Chad (Liberty Bay Solar) provided the most comprehensive information of all of the companies interviewed. He provided information in a manner that made people with limited solar technology (like me and my wife) understand what the process contained, the necessary information to ask any solar company to determine the most cost efficient and cost effective installation, the different panels and their effectiveness, savings on our electric bills, and the estimated payout for the system they proposed. While their costs lined up with other companies, my research determined they used one of the best panels as opposed to less reliable ones. They were, by far, the best value for the money. They operated to our needed timetables, were always available for questions, always courteous, friendly, and most importantly professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend anyone considering a solar system (especially now with the 30% rebate ending this year) to place a call to Liberty Bay Solar. We are glad we did. They exceeded all expectations.

We first met Chad at the home and garden show here in Concord. Very impressed as he took the time to explain everything. We set an appointment for him to give an estimate and we were pleasantly surprised. He offered us 5 different systems with pricing(all different manufacturers) with not much difference in productivity. How many companies give you that many options these days? We chose a system and it was installed in December 2018(went live 12/11). Since that time we have generated over 1 MW of solar energy. Phenomenal production. Liberty has been there every step of the way and has answered all of our questions pre and post install. I absolutely recommend this company wholeheartedly and will continue to do so.

I was very pleased with the cost and final installation of the system. There were a few glitches in the early process, but they were resolved to my satisfaction.

I wasn't necessarily looking into solar when I started out. By coincidence though I had contacted them for an estimate on electrical work and they ended up getting me a quote on a solar system for my home. From 400 dollars a month to a negative bill on my PG&E. I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on it. I couldn't be happier. They weren't kidding when they told me that I'd have power enough to spare and then some when they designed my system. Now I'm wondering why I didn't take advantage of this sooner and have been paying so much money every month for my electricity bill. I mean, with the current solar rebates it really is a no brainer....urg.

We just had our system installed and couldn't be happier. Our project went so smoothly and we appreciate the service we received. I feel like we didn't have to lift a finger, they just handled everything for us. Definitely recommend them for any project. Thank you to the entire team of Liberty Bay Solar.

I highly recommend Liberty Bay if you are looking for a solid and reasonably priced Solar energy system. From start to finish, they provided great customer service, including suggesting a PACE loan which allowed me to have low up front cost. The installers were also extremely courteous and professional. I also have a great warranty and peace of mind. Lastly, my PGE bill went from $180 to $30 per month. Very happy.
