We are so happy that we chose Liberty Solar to install our solar system a few years ago. The owner (Chad) was absolutely wonderful. He was always available to answer our questions no matter how many we asked and no matter how silly the questions were. The system he installed works perfectly. We have had no problems and of course our PG&E bill dropped dramatically. We reached out to him recently to install a solar power back up battery. As in the prior install, Chad was patient with all of our questions, his price is competitive, and his customer service skills are excellent. We look forward to working with Chad again. I would highly recommend him.
Becca F.We really like Chad and Liberty Bay. We've had our solar panels installed for about 3 months now, and so far everything is working great.
Chad answered all our questions about components and future service, and designed a system that isn't big but more than meets our electricity needs. We appreciate that he didn't sell us more than we really need. The price seemed quite competitive, based on the other estimates we got.
We were part of the big rush to get permits before NEM 2.0 was phased out, so I'm sure Liberty Bay was inundated with work and requests, like every other solar contractor. There were times that we were anxious about progress on our project, but I attribute it to that pre-cutoff crunch. Once our job was scheduled, the work went very quickly. Our new system was online fast.
Calvin C.I had an issue with my solar inverter not communicating with me and made me seeing that my PGE bill was abnormally high having a solar system installed. SolarEdge who made the inverter told me it was due to the cellular card be outdated and shut off. The company I originally dealt with is now defunct. So I had to find someone to fix my issue. I reached out for help on Yelp and Chad responded. Told me the same issue over the phone and told me what had to be done. So I scheduled him to visit. He fixed the issue by connecting my home network by wire to the inverter and updated the firmware. All in about an hour. This goes to show do not deal with the likes of those big solar installation companies that have people making sales calls and door to door sales. In the end you will be left out to dry. Like I felt when I tried to call Canopy Energy and their number was disconnected and emails non responsive. Panicked at first but came to my senses and got a hold of Chad. Thanks to him I have full confidence in small business since they are more focused on service rather than making tons of profit. Support Chad the owner of this business. I definitely recommend him for your solar needs.
Inverter went out. It was under warranty but the original installer was out of business (I wouldn't have called them anyway). Chad knew exactly what to do, sent George to install and then Chad set up the communication. Kept appointments and did a great job. You do pay a little bit for this sort of expertise.
Really just a great experience, from start to finish! The inverter (Solar Edge) failed on our rooftop solar system and the original installer was unable to service it. I contacted Chad and he immediately responded and set up an appointment for the next day. The installation of the new inverter was painless and professional. Chad was super friendly, easy to communicate with, and extremely knowledgeable. The install was done in a couple hours and he was able to provide us with information that we needed to transmit to our original installer to retire the old inverter and get the new one set up. I highly recommend!
Deborah G.I interviewed SO many solar companies, it made my head spin. Liberty Bay Solar was recommended by a NextDoorNeighbor digital bulletin board. Chad was so personable, patient and generous with his time explaining to me how solar works, and all the details in billing, rebates, NEM. It still makes my head spin. But, I contracted with him. I like that he has a background in engineering, is a small local company, and is an all around good person.
Michael R.I was having a problem with my Solar edge inverter so I reached out to liberty bay solar. Chad got back to me the same day and he was actually able to see me the next day (very rare).
After taking a few minutes to familiarize himself with my system he clearly explained what the different lights and signals meant on my inverter. He then went to work identifying the issue and discovered that it was actually not my inverter that had an issue but rather my battery.
After a few firmware updates and a flip of a switch my solar was back up and running!
Chad was incredibly friendly and a pleasure to speak with. If I ever want to update or expand my solar footprint I know where I'm going.
I highly recommend him for anyone needing help with their solar or looking to move to solar.
Zach D.We solicited solar quotes from several companies, but chose Liberty Solar and we're so glad we did!
Chad is a total pro. During the quote, he was the only solar rep to actually inspect our electrical panel and assess our electricity usage by looking at the PG&E meter on the side of our house. Chad was low pressure and never gave a ""sales pitch"". Instead, he informed us about our options, made recommendations based on our specific needs, answered all of my endless questions in a concise and understandable manner, and quoted us a *very* competitive price.
After agreeing to work with Liberty Solar, Chad made scheduling, the permit process, and installation a breeze! I feel like a solar aficionado now!
This a great company with exceptional customer support. Highly, highly recommended.
The previous owners of my house had solar installed, and I hadn't given it a ton of thought up until seeing my PG&E statement showed I wasn't getting much energy from my system all of a sudden. I realized the inverter, from solaredge, wasn't functioning properly anymore, so dug up info on the system installer to try to get them to fix the issue. Much to my dismay, the installer had gone out of business, so I tried contacting the ""preferred installers"" that solaredge lists in the area. Both of them told me they only do work on systems they installed (I guess it is more lucrative to be installing new systems, so they only do maintenance/repair if obligated to do so). Finally I made my way to yelp, where I found Liberty Bay Solar and Chad, and I'm very glad I did.
Based on what I shared with Chad, he was pretty confident that the inverter failure would be covered by the solaredge warranty. They require a site visit though and stepping through a convoluted process to verify system failure. He tried to squeeze a visit in just a couple of days after I called, but wound up running long on another job, but let me know that he wouldn't be able to make it that day as hoped. In the meantime though, he went ahead and opened a case with solaredge. When he was able to come early the next week, he spent a couple of hours on the phone with them stepping through the procedure for verifying it was dead and getting an RMA, so they'd ship a replacement at no cost.
When the new inverter arrived a week and a half later, he came out and got it all working. He also shared more information with me about the inverter and the solaredge monitoring platform. He even cleaned the panels while he was here, and gave tips on equipment so I could clean the panels myself!
I called and spoke with someone who sounded very helpful. He said he would call me back to schedule. Never called, never responded to texts (including a text just asking if he could let me know that he couldn't get me scheduled). Totally ghosted. I would not want to do business with a company so unreliable.
