Recommended Customer Reviews

If I could give a business negative stars, I would give Storm Guard and the owner, Larry Cheatham a negative 100. Never in my life have I had to deal with someone with such a lack of ethics and morals. To call him unprofessional doesn't even begin to describe the magnitude of scum this man is. I wish he had never even stepped foot on my property. And the 5 star rating above -- I question if that's a legit review. If it is, man are you lucky.
When the crazy hail storm during the summer ripped through our area, our entire street had to get new roofs. We talked to several contractors and got estimates and one of my husband's coworkers said her husband was a roofer. We called Larry out and he seemed to know what he was talking about and was going to be able to do everything for us cheaper than everyone else. We went ahead and hired him thinking that everything would work out and wrote him a check for for 50% totally $7k. I mean, my husband works with his wife for goodness sake. What could go wrong? PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING. We would've been better with anyone else off the street. This guy is like a freaking gypsy, but worse.
We signed the contract on 8/26 and told that work would be completed on our patio cover and roof within 2.5 weeks. Today is now 11/20. We have not seen him for the past month. The subcontractors that he hired to complete the patio even contacted my husband because Larry had not paid them yet and asked if we could. We call and text him day after day of no shows after promising he'll have a crew out to finish the job. You'd think there'd be some hint of being apologetic, but nada.
We finally had enough and my husband decides to ask his wife about it at work (which during this 2 month period, not once does she ask about the job, which in my mind is sketchy, because if it were my husband, I'd make EXTRA sure that the job was up to par) she has the gall to say that she is not involved in his business and doesn't know anything about it, basically a EFF OFF. UMM, excuse me crazy woman? How can you refer your HUSBAND to someone and not be able to vouch for him? Is that bat sh!t crazy to anyone else but me? Then she goes on to say that she hasn't talked to him...I guess she doesn't live w/ her husband? Who the hell knows.
He finally calls my husband today and claims he had a mini-stroke. FUNNY since your wife didn't know about it either. He has the audacity to give us two options: wait 2-3 weeks or be listed under a creditor as he files for bankruptcy. Oh my sweet baby jebus, there are actually people like this!!!!!!!! When I call him, he has the audacity to hang up on me.
Please people -- do not hire this scum for any reason. He and his wife are both scam artists and are not good people. There's a special place in hell for evil, deceitful garbage like them who take people's hard earned money leaving them scrambling to find a way to repair their homes.

I am a single mom who gave Larry Cheatham of Keller, TX money to fix my roof. Four months later I have no new roof and he has not given me my money back even though I have requested it for failure to render services. Larry Cheatham did the same thing to my neighbors. I do NOT recommend Storm Guard Roofing.

Why is my recent review with poor service from Storm Guard Roofing and Restoration, and how Larry took our down payment and never render services not showed up when I check under his company except the one dated in 2011 praising him for all the wonderful things he did, Those of us that have gotten swindle by him fail to show up, even though they are most recent and current?

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS SCAM ARTIST. I got a referral for this company from a co-worker and gave Larry Cheetum a call. He came out and took the insurance estimate and copied it to his contract. He said he could do almost all the work except for the underlayment which would cost an additional 500.00. I agreed to the additional costs and gave him the insurance draft as the down payment. He has never got this job scheduled. I have made numerous phone calls to Mr. Cheetum trying to get this roof started. There is always another excuse(there is a chance of rain, He was in the hospital, he will get it on the schedule, ect. ect. ect.) Now he will not even answer the phone when I call him.

I would highly recommend not doing business with Larry Cheetum and Storm Guard Roofing and Restoration. We have received numerous phone calls from Larry Cheetums customers mistaking our company Storm Guard Restoration, LLC for his. The infractions are mainly taking deposits and never retuning to do the work promised to collection calls for bounced company checks. If you have been scammed by Larry Cheetum we recommend filling a police report for theft of a construction deposit. Do not mistake Storm Guard Roofing and Restoration for the Nations only legitimate Exterior insurance restoration franchise Storm Guard Restoration, LLC.

They cashed my check and told me ""two weeks"" and pushing four weeks later still hadn't heard ANYTHING about scheduling so I called to ask and find out they plan to come a couple days later, but never bothered to inform me. Okay, I clear the day and...9:30pm the night before get a call saying it's pushed out to 5 days later. Okay, change schedule AGAIN and....two hours after i was told the workers would arrive, nobody. No phone call, nothing. So I have to call Larry to ask what's up and discover he wrote the wrong day and ""what's the big deal, you don't have to be there"". Um, YES, I do. I discovered when they claim they are ""insured"" it is YOUR OWN HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE covering workers if they get injured. So yes, you certainly want to be there. Already many bad signs but he's got several thousand dollars already. So I have to yank my clients around yet again and not only loose money but their goodwill and all he can mumble is ""sorry"".
Well, I found out that a BBB rating does NOT reflect reality. They ended up doing shoddy work, used my tools and equipment without even the courtesy of asking permission, destroyed landscaping, and left debris in the pool..but that wasn't nearly the worst of it. No, the worst came after the FOURTH no-call, no-show and I had to yes, yet again take off work so they could to finish the job and once again Larry set the time and day but yet again over an hour goes by and nobody calls, nobody shows. I realize things don't always go smoothly so I call to ask if there was a problem and got this amazing response from Larry: ""I am f**king SICK of you!"" Shocked beyond belief, I stammered that there was utterly no call for such behavior from him and that his ongoing lack of professionalism made me uncomfortable having him do the work and his response was, ""FINE! Then I'll just put a f**king lien on your house!"" I was shocked and flabbergasted. There was absolutely no excuse for this and MOST business owners are wiser than to even dream of speaking like that to someone they want money--and more importantly, a GOOD REFERRAL-- from. Either the other reviewer is a buddy of his or Larry only feels free to speak like that to people that he thinks are weak because they are civilized enough to remain polite and accommodating even when he is repeatedly in the wrong. (I have a feeling the previous reviewer would give Larry a well-deserved punch in his potty mouth if he spoke like that to the reviewer's wife or daughter.) There is NOTHING professional about him or his work or his conduct. And ""customer service""? Don't make me laugh. Do not expect a professionally-run business that does professional-level work and keeps their commitments from Larry or Storm Guard Roofing and Restoration.

OK, I did some checking on this guys company before I called him. Like many people suffering from the last hail storm in the Irving, TX area; I had a ton of fliers. I went on-line and looked at several, some were OK, some sounded too good to be true, this Storm Guard Roofing & Restoration, inc stood out to me for some reason. So I look it up on the BBB site, had a good rating, better than many, only 1 complaint since 1982!
I call and talk to Larry Cheatham (the owner), he comes over and looked at my roof which was totally screwed. I find out the guy is the owner of a family owned and run business; I like this, because it is 'old school'.
Now I never dealt with a situation like this roof crap, but Larry walks me through the entire thing. I am talking he tells me who I should call, what I should tell them to get an adjuster here, etc etc.
Once the adjuster comes over, I finally get in touch with my insurance company (who like many drag their damn feet), they send me a check. Larry proceeds to tell me what he can do for that amount, then he looked at the underside of the decking, and LARRY files for the extra money, Larry calls and deals with the adjuster and insurance company! Larry gets us extra money to cover the decking from the insurance company, how I don't know, but he does.
In less that may 16-20 total hours, my roof is torn off, the new deck, tar paper and shingles of my choice are on the roof and my yard is CLEAN!
So do I recommend this guy? HELL YEAH I DO! He is a good guy, and very up front. His people are fast and efficient. Customer Service is not a foreign idea to Larry Cheatham of Storm Guard Roofing & Restoration, inc.
