We had our roof replaced by Ron at Kokua Roofing early in 2014. We assumed the the job was done properly but did not get up on the roof to personally inspect it as it was done nor afterwards. We assumed that this was a responsible & capable company. This was the last time the roof could be done before stripping it down and we were having solar installed so wanted it done right so it would last.

8 years later we found that our facia was rotting, the gutter separated from it & when raining we get soaked on our walk way to our front door. We found this was due to a drip edge was not installed and we would have to have the roof redone. I have contacted Ron via email with no response on our warranty. We have had no choice but to have the roof redone again. The damage is much more extensive. Almost all of the facia boards and most of the eave has to be replaced. There is wood rot all the way into my attic. A good part of our gutter also has to be replaced. They also did not install the proper felt between the layers. They totally messed up on the side of our sky light and did not reroof under our water solar. What they did do was a very inadequate job that does not look like it was done by professionals.

This time is going to end up costing over 3 times as much as the original job 8 years ago. And absolutely no response from the Kokua Roofing. Needless to say, I am not a happy camper. I hope this will help someone from making the same mistake that we did.

I had scheduled a solar attic fan on June 5th. I have received nothing but excuses since the beginning of the first week in July which was the original date of installation. Today after making other date commitments and ""no shows"" without any notice, apology or explanation. I had to email Ron, the owner, every time just to hear another lame explanation, ""It's been raining."" I responded by reminding him on July 16th. that it is dry in Waikoloa Village. His reply was, ""I think I need to cancel this project."" And that was his unbelievable unprofessional conduct. I have used contractors in Kona for over 40 years with 100% satisfaction. This experience has been a nightmare of no communications. It was like pulling teeth just to get Ron to even email me back. Maybe it was once a good company at one time but now it appears to be falling a part . I am extremely disappointed and now I am left in the middle of summer with enormous irresponsibility and a hot house.

Ron and his crew run an absolutely first class operation. All work was done on time and on budget. Even a slight mishap was corrected immediately and completely.

What more can you ask? Great work, honest company and very reliable. I recommend them to anyone looking for roofing needs.

Thank you to Kokua Roofing. I had a small repair, under $2000 worth of work. I had problems getting any other company to come look at the problem. Ron sent one of his guys. Got an estimate, and scheduled a day. Guys showed up, did a great repair. Very happy (although it hasn't rained, so I actually can't verify success of repair yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!)

Kokua came through with repairs on some leaks in an older concrete tile roof for us, good response, repairs were done quickly, we had one spot which continued to have a leak, they came back out and Shawn and his guys took care of things the same day I saw the leak appear, I don't think I could ask for better service, Mahalo Kokua Roofing
