Recently had a large portion of my roof replaced by Mike Knitter team. What an exceptional company and hard working crew. They not only did a phenomenal job it was done quickly, efficiently and professionally. I highly recommend this company.

Used Knitter for a re-do on our roof (full paper replacement and new skylights, etc). My parents had used them several years ago when they needed a new roof and they highly recommended them.
I must say, they are a well-oiled machine and the entire process was incredibly smooth. They also did a fantastic job cleaning up after themselves, which I was slightly concerned about as I didn't really know what to expect from this type of job.
Every person that we dealt with was incredibly professional and helpful.
I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Knitter Contracting has just completed a lift and lay of my roof, as well as repairing leak damage in my dining room. Everyone I dealt with in the company was professional, kind, and patient with my concerns and questions. Their work was excellent and timely.

Knowledge of roofing and solar is the best I have seen....without hesitation.....highly recommended.

In February 2020, Knitter Contracting, Inc was assigned (through USAA) to replace my aging roof. He and his workers took only 2.5 days and the result was amazing. Mike and is team were excellent and Mike really listened to my concerns. I appreciated the detail and finishes to the trim and facia too. Highly recommend Knitter for your roofing needs. So happy I had this done before the 6 straight days of rain! Thank you again Mike!

My mother just had her entire roof and tiling redone with Knitter Contracting. She met with many contractors and Chris was the only one who listened to what she wanted, which was to keep the original look the same. All the other contractors made suggestions like ""Oh just remove them, etc"".
They gave a competitive and fair estimate and a clear start date. The job was completed within the suggested time frame and the end result was better than we could have imagined.
They left the place as clean as it was before every day and at completion.
I am not sure why there are some bad reviews but just remember that there are ALWAYS two sides to a story!
I highly recommend this family owned company!!!

I liked Mike when speaking to him at my home, so we waited for his estimate. He proposed a logical plan to address our wall leaks, which included options to prevent future problems (all very detailed).
We waited for a month, and then an estimate showed up after some prodding on my part (meaning I called several times to see if it was available). The price looked good, but that's because it wasn't for the project we asked to be estimated. Meaning, we waiting an entire month for the wrong estimate.
This last part I'm speculating, but we complained to our insurance company that we wasted a month of our time waiting (only to receive an estimate for the wrong project). Knitter's staff assured me that a new estimate would be forthcoming in the meantime. So we waited.
At the two month mark, I received an email explaining that they do don't the type of work I requested. Since this was obviously a lie (Mike explained in person exactly how good he is at water issues and proposed a very specific plan to repair our house), I am presuming this was retaliation for complaining to the insurance company about the first estimate mistake.
We have a small child and have been living with an open wall (exposed to studs) for months now. Much of this is a result of waiting for this company.
Not professional at all. Shameful actually.

Michael Knitter previously did a roof repair (referral through our insurance company) and we had no hiccups. We also had him add some rain gutters The job was reasonable in price and done quickly.
When we had roof tiles blown off in the recent storm, we decided to call Kniiter to do any needed repairs. Aaron Milburn, field superintendent, came out and looked at the roof and said he would give us an estimate the next day. After a few days, we called the office to check on status. No reply. We then called Aaron's cell phone and left a message and no reply. We emailed to the main office again and no reply. After 2 weeks, we gave up and had another roofer who came out and fixed the tile on the spot.
BTW, Aaron said there were more problems than the one roof tile, but this was not confirmed by our 2nd roofer, who said only one roof tile came off and there was no other visible damage. We suspect if Knitter had done the job, it would have been inflated with manufactured repairs....
We would have appreciated the courtesy of a call that they were too busy, or the job was too small, or something so that we did not waste two weeks waiting to have our roof repaired. We will never call such an unreliable contractor who treats potential customers (and a repeat customer in this case) with such disrespect. This is my first review on Yelp as I wanted to warn off other customers.

Knitter contracting was hired by my insurance company to write a report and a repair proposal for the leaks on the roof of my house. Mike Knitter the owner of the company wrote the report and the proposal. I hired him to do the job. An hour before when his crew was scheduled to show up to start the work, I got an email from him saying that his proposal did not include all the roof leaks and only one side of the roof and in order for them to do the entire work he wanted over a $1000 more to start the job. This is a typical bait and switch tactic. Of course I didn't have him continue with the work. I have waited three weeks for him to start the work and now have to hire another company to write the report to my insurance company and a new repair proposal. He has wasted a lot of my time and caused me a great deal of inconvenience. I do not recommend him as he is not an honest person and will waste your time. There needs to be an option for no stars on here, cause that's what he deserves.

Well..I'm the second review and I am surprised by the lack of reviews. When I discussed with Mike Knitter why he didn't have more reviews he explained to me how he is old school and works by word of mouth. That's respectable. My review is sincere and will explain why he deserves 5 stars.
""Mike"" Knitter knows roofing and construction. I bought a new home that needed a new roof. I obtained 4 quotes and waited until the rainy season came. I had a leak or two. Then a tree fell on my house during the storm in Sept'2014 in San Diego. My roof is tricky, rock and tar. My insurance came out and started the claim. I already had 3 estimates and Farmers insurance sent Mike to assess the damage. After about a half hour with Mike...I knew he was the right fit. My roofer who was quoting the damage the same time as Mike Knitter even knew Knitter and said he would not finish the estimate once he saw Knitter bidding the job because ""Everyone goes with Knitter once he shows up to bid."" His bid was fair and reasonable and he did not add on more than I wanted done.
He's a busy man and wasn't the fastest at getting back to me (due to rainy season), however, when he did, I knew I made the right decision, and I was not let down. His company did a beyond excellent job. His crew is experienced and did and went above and beyond my expectations. My home had many challenges as it is unique and custom built, but Mike's crew was exceptional and experienced for the task. One of his supers, Aaron, was on top of all issues. We had a minor incident with plumbing and he handled it so professionally that I was amazed at the outcome. No extra charges... his crew knows all trades, painting, plumbing, drywall, electrical besides roofing.
My roof is better than ever and I appreciate that Mike made his work seem effortless, especially dealing with my insurance, where is experience and professionalism shines. I would hire this company back in a second and my roof has never leaked since. If you have any doubt about this company because its lack of 5 stars reviews, please know that I am in the business of hiring professional contractors for a living for a large healthcare organization and I know that the quality of work and customer service is important...both which Mike Knitter and his crews deliver. I could go on longer but I can't give his company more than 5 stars which they deserve. If you need more details on the quality of work you may contact me 619-459-7945 - Sean. Thanks Mike for my top-notch roof and finishing every detail as you said you would.
