Mario and Francisco from Kent Roofing just completed two days of work on our house. They definitely demonstrated a high work standard.

Our roof has tiles that break easily and are no longer manufactured. These roofers knew how to walk on the roof so very few tiles broke, and, more importantly, they were able to bring a unbroken tiles to the job, to replace those that broke.

When they peeled off the outer tiles it was clear that more work, and expense, would be required to really do a thorough job. This probably happens in any roofing repair.

Kent uses an adhesive rubber film instead of tar paper. It's more expensive but it lasts longer and seals better.
When Jonathan gave us our quote he said that Kent Roofing is not the cheapest alternative, but they do quality work.

Update Friday September 4th
They did lower the price about $1,000 but it is still more than I would like to spend at this time. If I owned a regular site built house and not a mobile home I would probably go with them, but they were still too expensive for me.

Jonathan the owner of the company came to my house to give me a roof bid, for my 20-year-old roof, which has a number of shingles that have blown off and is ready for a new roof.

I have been researching roofing for the past month as a hobby during the covid times, using sites such as roofing.com, research roofing, consumer reports. Other than consumer reports and roofing.com which is a discussion group with professional roofers, it is hard to know if any of these shingle review sites are really just advertising for a certain company.

I thought I knew everything there was to know about roofing, but Jonathan explained several things I didn't know such as the importance of the underlayment, and how it should be applied.

He said that the shingles job is really just to protect the underlayment, but the underlayment is the backup to leaks, and how it is applied and what type is used is very important depending on the roof pitch which in my case is a 3/12 which is on the low side.

We also discussed proper roof venting, cool roof shingles and are they effective, roof warranties, and are they worth it, and a number of other things.

At the moment his price is about 20% higher than others that I had been considering, and I asked him if he could lower his price and he said he would think about it.

I have a very high degree of confidence based on my discussion with Jonathan that the roof I would get would be high quality and I would definitely use him if every if the price was lower.

I also addressed with him some of the Yelp complaints company had received and why he got them. He was honest with those negative reviews, and none of them were directly about not fixing leaks as far as I know. which would be the only type of review that would really matter in my opinion.

At the moment I still haven't decided if I would use their company but I would certainly like to.

We recently needed major dry rot repair on our roof eves. We contacted the original company PetersenDean Roofing, and they were no help at all. They would not even come out to look at it. So, I searched the internet and found the 10 top roofing companies for the Almaden area of San Jose on YELP. I requested a bid and the first company to respond was Kent Roofing. I was contacted first by email in less than 24 hours and a phone call by Sam Kent the founder of the company the very next day. It was a Friday and he said he could come out the following Tuesday to inspect the roof. He informed me that PetersenDean did not install the proper weather proofing membrane over the edges of the roof. Without this protection, water works its way under the edges and causes water damage to the eves and roof sheathing. He gave me a quote which I felt was a little more than I hoped I'd have to spend. He worked with me on the price and I felt he was professional, trustworthy, and capable of performing a repair that would prevent future leaks. They came out the next Tuesday and completed the work in 3 days. While repairing the roof, they discovered the damage was more extensive. Sam was very generous and worked with me on the additional cost. My wife and I were very impressed with Sam and his crew. They performed excellent work, were punctual each day, cleaned up each day and at the end of the job. If you need a new roof or a repair on your existing roof, we HIGHLY recommend KENT ROOFING COMPANY. The entire team, including Sam's son who is taking over the family run company, is top notch! They will impress you as they did us.

Kent Roofing just completed a new roof on my home replacing my old wood shake roof. The sales lead, Patrick, was super friendly and responsive in getting my quote as well as I asked him to give me a quote for replacing two old skylights. I selected a composite shake roof. The entire crew was super friendly and responsive. Dave was the project lead and he was super communicative, friendly and responsive. They addressed all of my concerns and the final product was outstanding. The roof, new gutters and skylights look great. I highly recommend them and I would use them again.

I had neglected my roof for a long time, then I saw some water damage on my kitchen ceiling. Two guys from Kent Roofing came out, removed the tiles from the roof, put down a new membrane, and cleaned up afterwards. All of this was done in just one day, which I greatly appreciated. They took pictures to show me what work was completed.

I would use Kent Roofing again for any work I needed. Highly recommended!

I had a leak in the garage roof and decided after 45 years it was time to replace the tile roof I got scammed by the first and then got Kent. I met with them in Oct. I got a new composite roof in Feb. it was done in 4 days! Looks great!

Kent Roofing was a pleasure to work with. I have a rental property in San Jose and I very rarely get the time to visit. I called about 20 different roofing places and only 2-3 would actually do a repair (they only want to do replacements). Kent was quick to respond and quote me on a repair for the house.

My only complaint with these guys was the wait, but do you want a contractor that can start tomorrow? They came on time and did the work as promised. They cleaned up so well that everything is cleaner than when they started. So polite too. If you need a roof, call these guys.

Kent Roofing, the best professional roofing company I ever came across. My tiled-roof happened to leak three places, I believe this was due to the tenting for the fumigation! One leak was on a complex flashing and it has to replace.
My point of contact was Sam. It was a busy December incident and I got an estimate pretty fast from Sam. Sam is super expert and very keen in the customer satisfaction. The quote was competitive, by the way I took three estimations!
Their crew is super professional, nice and know what they are doing. The crew took the pictures after strip the tiles and described what they found and their work plan to fix. Competed the work as promised, on time and cleaned the premises. I am extremely satisfied on their quality workmanship and the professional approach.
