We received a quote of about $900 to repair a leak in our roof caused by a mounting screw for an unused satellite dish. The estimator was polite and seemed credible. I accepted the bid about an hour after his visit. No reply for about 5 days. So I sent another email asking for confirmation.
He emailed back stating that when we sent payment we would receive scheduling information within one week. This had not been discussed before. I called to clarify what he meant by prepayment. He said that they would expect 100% payment up front, then we could wait for them to call us for scheduling within one week. Bear in mind that he already exposed a communication deficit. Now he wants us to trust that after he receives 100% of payment, we will get a call back on scheduling.
I did a little research and found that the industry standard for prepayment was 15 to 50% nationwide. I declined the service, and about 15 minutes later ""Reese"" calls with an apology, stating that he meant 50%. I don't see how a professional estimator could make that kind of mistake. Needless to say, we declined service.
Don't be fooled by the cute Kangaroo on the truck.
Michele D.We have had a very disappointing experience with Kanga. They removed our tv satellite, taking pictures for positioning when reattaching to the roof. After it was reinstalled, we no longer had satellite service. The project manager assured us that someone would be out in the morning to reposition it, as the before and after pictures showed clearly it was improperly positioned. He also assured us that any expense we incurred if they were unable to reinstall it,Kanga would cover.
They did indeed send someone the next morning with a faulty ladder and no tools to do the job.
Since then we have left numerous messages, their phone is not manned 24/7 as stated on their websites. We got no callbacks. We even tried the emergency number left on their voicemail. Said emergency service had never heard of Kanga Roofing.
We decided to try a streaming service as the satellite could not be repaired by Direct TV until well into October. We then were able to contact Logan to have the satellite removed and roof repaired. After telling us Kanga would cover any expense to have the satellite properly installed, he now said they would charge us to remove it and repair the roof, in spite of their mistake and the cost to them being negligible. We asked to see the before and after pictures that the project manager told us show the improper installation, and those have not been made available to us.
We have seen many good reviews for this company, but this has been a miserable experience for us.
We have been told so many lies, we are very suspicious of them and now feel we need to have the roof inspected by an independent inspector.
Kanga Roof replaced our roof after a storm. Craig was amazing when he came out to discuss and quote the work. This also involved an insurance claim and Craig took care of helping with the claim process. Can't say enough good things about Craig plus the owners Scott and Stacie Feller are amazing people! The work was done very timely and the installers did a great job plus cleaned up everything very well. Roof has been great and is so beautiful! I highly recommend Kanga Roof!
Lana S.Our insurance inspector informed us that we had hail damage to two HVAC vents on our roof. At a neighbor's recommendation, we contacted Kanga Roof for an estimate. Josh came out this morning, and I am blown away by the integrity and honesty of this company. I expected a full-on sales pitch, with the nightmare scenario of ""your insurance inspector really blew it and your entire roof needs replacing."" Boy, was I pleasantly surprised when Josh said that the damage to my HVAC vents was negligible. He said that, if he wouldn't recommend that his mother have those vents replaced, he wasn't going to recommend it to a customer. It's rare to experience that kind of integrity, as a customer. I highly recommend Kanga Roof.
Beth B.It pains me to even have to give them a 1 star.
I guess these guys are just too big to care about new business and that's why ""Matt"" didn't show up to look at our roof that was damaged by a tree. I guess I should have taken it as a hint when it took me leaving 2 voicemails (because good luck on getting someone to answer the phone) to get a call back. I called on Monday and was scheduled for today (Wednesday). Matt didn't bother to show up nor did I get a call. Just a big ""screw you and your time"".
Angela S.I called Kanga after a leak in my roof and they were able to come out to look at my roof a couple days later. Josh called when he was on his way and I got a text with his photo and bio. I thought that was a nice touch! Josh told me my roof was in excellent condition and found where he felt the water was coming through and sealed it up with sealant. He said if I see any further damage, call him and he will be right back out. I work for State Farm and after this excellent service I asked him to send me his business cards so I could refer my clients to him. I am always looking for honest companies and I would recommend Kanga to my clients, friends and family!
Nicole S.Would not recommend. Took a neighbor's recommendation. Inspector came out and asked us which dishes were inactive. We said the dish network and rise broadband stays.
Came home 8 hours later only to see that all dishes had to be removed from there roof. Their office personnel put in order that all needed to be removed.
Unfortunately they had already removed every single one upon arrival. So now we have to wait for Dish Network and rise broadband to fix our issues which could be over a week. So now im missing online classes for school and work, and our children can't watch shows, play educational games, user tablets, etc.
They also removed my bathroom skylight only to find all my homemade beauty products contaminated by saw dust. There project manager tried to make it right by offering to clean bathroom, but the damage was already done to my supplies and I just wanted them to leave.
The companies office personnel showed that they are not adequate to perform a simple order and I will not promote the company to anyone I know.
Danny F.We bought a home years ago with half composition roofing that was in bad need of replacing with metal to match the other half. Craig came out, gave us a great price and had the roof done in under ten days. Its a perfect match and looks great.
I contacted Kanga Roof because they are right next to my workplace and I really liked their business name.
This being my first roof replaced, I was fairly skeptical towards the entire process.
Graig Urban came out and inspected the roof and build the estimate.
Without him explaining the process of how homeowner's insurances cover hail and wind damage, I would have never known it and probably wouldn't have a new roof right now.
He showed me the hail and wind damage and was pretty confident that my insurance would cover it.
He did a very good job of explaining how roof repair work, physically and financially and guided me through the process.
He was very responsive to my many questions I had and managed to put my mind to ease and lose my skepticism.
Communication between KangaRoof's office for scheduling was ok, seeing that it is a challenge to foresee the weather and being able to say exactly when the crew will be out there.
For the actual installation I have to say that the overall experience was good, I had a bit of a moment when I had to discover that two holes (about 2-3"" in diameter) that where at the corner edges of my back yard lower roof deck were simply covered with shingles instead of being fixed before the shingles came on top of it.
That was the only disappointing part that I have to mention, it kind of makes you wonder where else certain things weren't done properly.
When I contacted the office about this, Chris Hatch, the project lead for my roof came out and checked it out and the holes were covered with sheet metal and the shingles were put back on within a couple of days.
Craig and one of their regional managers came out afterwards and made sure that I am ok with the repair and the way they handled it. Ultimately I was.
This incident that I only caught because I have security cameras at my house made me subtract one star.
It still bothers me a little bit, but it would not prevent me from hiring them again.
The overall experience was good and I can recommend KangaRoof and would and will hire them again if I need them.
Thank you KangaRoof Team.
Chris G.I think you can tell a lot about a company by how they handle negative situations just as much, if not more so than positive ones. I recently was in a bind needing to have some chimney repairs done on my home before closing. I reached out to Kanga and within barely 15 minutes Erik was already on my roof inspecting the job (he happened to live in my neighborhood)! I received a quote for the work within the hour and he was able to expedite my job to be scheduled the following week. Unfortunately, I ended up finding someone that was able to do the job the following day instead of the following week, so I went with them because of the time sensitivity. Kanga was very understanding and pleasant when I called to cancel their job. So although it didn't work out for this job, I will definitely be calling Kanga for any future roof work that I need!
