this is for a friend of mine anna yakovleva. She doesn't have a yelp account and asked if I could do this for her. from the pictures she took before and after the shoddy workmanship that was done, I can see why she wants to spread the news about K & D Roofing and Construction.

BEFORE YOU GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR BUSINESS, PLEASE, READ THIS!

About 6 month ago, I gave this company a great feedback when I was contacted by Rob and asked if I could put a few nice words for K&D. I did not mind.. but I SPOKE TOO SOON. Here what I have been dealing with since MAY 13th till the current day!

I made a BIG mistake paying money to K&D roofing without checking the work. Went on total trust. From the first glance, roof looked good. However, when I had a detailed inspection, I noticed that while installing the roof, installers completely damaged the Hardie board sidings of the house that are attached to the garage, broke the brick and did not correctly install flashing causing later on the wood under the roof to decay.

Work was still under the warranty, From May 13th till today, July 29th , I have contacted K&D roofing total of 22 times. I had 2 official appointments scheduled. First appointment Rob called and told me that his tire blew up and he cannot come over. I rescheduled. Second appointment he did not show up again and said that he twisted his foot but will show up a few days later. There was no show. I texted him, no answers. I started calling the company and was just giving excuse after excuse. I contacted the company through the portal, but no one called me. I called the company and was told that someone will call me back, but this never happened. I have a compiled list of all the no shows and excuses this company gave me within these 2.5 month.

Finally on July 15th, someone from the K&D company called me and told me that he will show up the next day. We agreed on 8AM. The next day I got a call from the person saying he was running late. He finally showed up at 8:30 and here is the story I got.

K&D roofing is NOT RESPONCIBLE for collateral damage. They are responsible for the roof, but if they damage something while at it, it is not their fault. I was told that it is mentioned in the contract that I signed. So, the fact that they damaged the siding of the house, broke the brick did not count because it is NOT THE ROOF.

He told me that yes, it was his crew that was working there, and they had a hard time pulling old roof and installing the new roof and that is why it happened. There was not even an apology of any kind. He also inspected the back area of the garage where siding and garage meet and where I had a horribly decaying wood and told me that he will follow up with Rob and will be in touch. That was on July 16th. That was my contact #22 with this company. I heard NOTHING back from July 16th.

I have a year warranty with K&D.. but what good does it do if they do not show up or basically giving you an excuse for not fixing what they broke? This is the second time I am replacing roof on my property. First time, when I used different company, there was NO ISSUES. When I mentioned this to the person who came in on July 16th, all he told me is that this is because ""code changed"". So, I guess, 15 years ago ""codes where better"" and the company I used that time did not damage my property. This time ""it is different codes"".
So, I guess it is OK for K&D damage someone's property. It is ok for K&D avoid customers by not responding to any kind of communications 22 times while the customer is still in warranty.

Funny thing, I recommended this company before to my friends and relatives who did the roofs with K&D as well. You would think that this company would respect their loyal customers and referrals they get from them? The answer is BIG FAT NO!!! Once they get the money, they absolutely do not care.

I wish there were negative stars.. but ""1 star"" is the smallest, so I have no choice but give them 1 start.

They're fixing my neighbors roof at a mobile home park and won't turn down their music even though I've asked them to politely, as I am in the middle of a zoom lecture and my peers can hear the music with my mic on. Common sense would tell you it's inappropriate to blast music outside of someone's window especially a trailer the walls are paper thin

There were problems from the beginning. They simply didn't show up on the day they were scheduled, and didn't call. Then one day -weeks later- they called to say they were on their way. The pictures show the terrible work that was done. They left rotten boards in place, used wood with holes and other damage, and didn't caulk anything. I've been calling and texting for weeks but getting no response. They did, however, manage to send an invoice.

If you won't mind cleaning up after the roofers then this is the company for you. Let me add a little back story before I resume the review - we've had our home for 20 years and I am proud to say, it is well maintained -- we have lawn service, pest service and take care of preventative maintenance for AC and vent system etc. We placed our home on the market a couple months ago and in preparation for the showings, it received a bit of a cosmetic makeover. We updated our lighting, everything was freshly pressure washed and painted. The house sold quickly, but the roof needed to be replaced because of its age. Fast forward to yesterday and this company arrived bright and early. They laid out tarp on the lawn to catch the shingles and debris and seemed to be doing well until I noticed that they had not protected our screened patio. When I brought it to the attention to the worker that was tasked with catching and cleaning up, he assured me they that they would clean up and I had nothing to worry about. Later in the day, I decided to watch tv and did not have a satellite signal. I did the basic troubleshooting and it did not work so I step outside to see that they had knocked over a piece of the dish. It was still attached - just dangling. Once again, I brought to their attention and they tried to deny being responsible. Notice I say they tried. Nevertheless, they put it back in place and my signal returned. They were sometime after 5 and were cleaning up and I needed to leave so I let them know that the patio door was unlocked so that they could clean it up and left. When I returned, it was clear that no one had cleaned the patio but then we got some heavy rain and I remained indoors for the remainder of the evening. This morning, I had the displeasure of noticing the mark (literally) that their work van and dumpster left on my driveway and the materials they left behind. I have yet to walk around the perimeter of my home. Quick frankly, I'm afraid to. They receive one star because the roof looks nice.

I just gotta say I'm very impressed with this company and their loyalty to their customers. I wouldn't call this a small company either.. from what I see they keep business very steady and with their very busy schedule Rob Hile (the owner) still managed to keep excellent communication with me. When we were first going over our contract to have my roof redone from an insurance claim, he was very thorough in making sure I understood everything that I needed done and took the time to go over every line item with me. Not only did his company do an excellent job on my roofing chimney sweep, they made sure all trash was picked up around the property. I was very worried about their being nails and debris because of my dog who roams around the yard, but I didn't find a single nail or debris left over. I also had a big opening in an area in my house of missing drywall from a plumbing problem that I had mentioned to him, and since they were replacing the drywall on my ceiling, he went ahead and had his guy fix up this small patch as a courtesy for going with his company! This job was done almost two years ago. Recently though, my chimney sweep failed after a really bad wind storm and I called K & D roofing about the issue and knew I had the warranty. It was a quick fix of popping a new chimney sweep on and I was worried about being charged for labor as I've been tight on a budget. When Rob Hile came out for my appointment less than a week later, he came out and exchanged my chimney sweep with no cost to labor. It's companies like this that deserve respect for being so loyal to their customers. I fully recommend going with this company and I will be referring him to people in the future. Thank you K & D roofing for all that you have done for me and making this experience not stressful at all.

Let me tell you about a roofing experience with K&D....We had a house scheduled to close, we partnered with K&D who had done roofing replacements for me in the past. I meet with the K&D Sales rep and signed the agreement based on price and their commitment to perform the work in time to meet my closing date. A day later after swapping text messages with the sales rep, he changes our contracted install beyond close date. I responded with a request to cancel. That's when he went silent! Then we find out he filed a Notice of Commencement after my request to cancel, knowing we'd be in a bind based on our close date. I attempted to contact the owner Rob, who merely responded the only way to get a release from the Notice of Commencement was to pay his ransom of almost $500, that's how he said they do business. To give you an idea what type of employees this guy hires, after I had signed the contract and during some casual conversation this sales rep decides to voluntarily disclose how he was helping the owner to hide money from his wife as they were in process of a divorce. I took it as just a disgruntled employee, until he reneged on my install date creating the window to extort money from me. Not a way to run or do business, if there was a lower rating that one star, this owner and company warrants it. I highly recommend not doing business with this company!
