Recommended Customer Reviews

Johnny came recommended to us by a friend who works in construction. We weighed the pros and cons or repair vs re-roof. Johnny did not pressure us to replace the entire roof - the choice was ours. Since we had PV panels that needed to be removed to get the job done, we chose to replace the entire roof. We also were so glad we stripped all the old roofing as it revealed issues where water got in. Johnny was great. We compared a couple bids and Johnny's bid was very professional and fair. He explained everything and listed exactly what would be done. His work crew worked super hard, they were very clean and professional. Johnny made sure everything was done right. We felt very comfortable with the workers and Johnny. We would highly recommend them to our friends an family.

This company is honest, reliable and trust worthy and will give you the best bang for your buck! Give them a try for all your roofing needs!

Our Monair roof, which my dad purchased 35 years ago, required decking (CDX plywood and waterproof underlayment) before solar panels (PV) could be installed. Monair tiles are supposed to last a lifetime (I've got a couple more decades to go) and were still in good condition (the tiles that is). I was told that it was time-consuming and labor-intensive to take the tiles off and put them back after the decking was installed. Plus, there would a height gap because the decking would put the new tiles higher than the old ones. Alternatives were to put shingles on the entire roof (about $34,000) or put shingles on only the part of the roof where the PV would be housed. Then I was told about Johnny from JoyAce.
He happened to be nearby when I called, so he came over, explained the process, walked and measured the roof, and gave me a quote (resulting in a savings of $22,000 over the cost of re-roofing). Factors that affect price include # of stories, gables and valleys, amount of decking needed, replacement tiles. Knowledgeable and professional, he has an engaging personality and is very easy to talk to. Most of all he doesn't mind explaining the process more than once (which he did in my case several times). After signing the contract and paying a deposit, his crew started removing tiles and installing the decking within a week. Because they got the job done, the PV installation phase could begin in earnest.
Pros
1. Worked closely with the PV company to coordinate sequence of events. As soon as the PV company did their thing, JoyAce came to do the next step. (A list of their steps is below). Despite the weather and the number of clients wanting to get their projects completed before year-end, the PV was turned on in 20 days (actually JoyAce finished on the 15th day).
2. Offered ideas (e.g., most effective area to place the panels, where to place the solar hot water heater panel, suggested moving an exhaust pipe to create more space for the PV and then had his crew move it). He walked the roof and showed me where the panels would be if I did a U or L configuration. I picked his brain a lot and he was very open and helpful.
3. Inspected the rest of the roof to assess its condition and replace any broken tiles
4. Reliable, prompt and hard-working crew. It was quite something to see them move the heavy tiles around the roof. These men are strong and agile. There was a rhythm to their work.
Cons
What cons? They addressed any concerns right away.
Here's what they did:
1. Removed the cemented Monair tiles (ridge caps, rakes, field tiles) and distributed them in stacks around the unaffected portion of the roof
2. Installed CDX plywood along with waterproofed underlayment
3. Installed wood battens if needed
4. After the solar company put in the PV attachments, JoyAce re-installed tiles
5. After the solar panels were installed, JoyAce re-cemented the ridge caps and rakes, and replaced any broken tiles. [A hint for those who have colored tiles: Replacement tiles may not be the right color, but JoyAce painted the tile and grout to match as close as possible.]
True to Johnny's word, they were the first and last persons on the roof. JoyAce Roofing lives up to their name. They are a JOY to work with and do an excellent job.

Johnny and his crew gave us a new roof in one week. He was very professional but also felt like an old friend. He reaponded very quickly to all of my calls, texts, and questions. He was very fair and clear anytime changes were made. All rotted lumber was replaced. We got exactly what we wanted and are extremely happy with the end results. I would highly recommend JoyAce roofing. Mahalo Johnny.

Very disappointed with the job these guys did. Initially, I felt very comfortable when talking to them, but final delivery was less then ideal.
They re-roofed my entire house, so it took almost a week to finish. I was expecting a walk through after everything was complete, but I got no call after completion and had to assume everything was done. When going on the roof, here are a couple things I noticed:
(1) old roofing material all through out the gutters
(2) 75% of my gutter clips were all broken
(3) lots of loose nails throughout the yard, gutters and roof
(4) rusty razor blade laying on the roof
Unfortunately, Revolusun uses them as their exclusive roofers so you don't have a choice. But if you do have a choice, think twice.

Great company.
Looked to replace my roof and JoyAce provided a live and beyond. Appreciated the contact throughout the process including daily updates as the work was in progress.
Price comparable to other companies.
Worker cleaned up after each day.
Roof looks great.
If you are looking for a roofing company, give JoyAce a call.

Excellent job roofing my house and carpentry work. Super clean and workers are nice and conscientious of my property. Definitely would recommend.

I used JoyAce for my re-roofing in Mililani in 2009. The team was quick and the job well done. I really liked the owner Johnny. He was very straight forward and even recommended installing a solar fan in the attic that his crew installed at cost. I was glad I used them because when I had solar panels installed a year later, everything went smoothly with no roofing problems. So, when my 90+ mom's house roof in Palolo needed replacement this month, I recommended JoyAce. We had gotten a couple of estimates and JoyAce came in with a really good price. The JoyAce team worked quickly and finished her roof in two days. The team was courteous and did not disturb my mom. Johnny did a final inspection today to ensure the team had cleaned up any mess and to ensure everything was OK. He told us that they were unable to install ridge vents because of the shape of my mom's roof so he reduced the price further. My mom's comments before he left was"" Gee, that's an honest company."" I definitely would use them again and highly recommend this company if you need roofing work.
