James with JD Construction gave me a reasonable quote for siding repair. He took an upfront deposit for the work and then disappeared. It has been well over 6 months since I paid him and he refuses to refund me and the work was never done. I've been given every excuse under the sun as to why I haven't received my money back. I've never in my life worked with someone so unprofessional. He basically stole my money. I've warned everyone who has asked for a contractor referral to avoid this company.

JD Construction took over what is near to 4 months and kept making promises to do the work, but he never showed up. However, when he collected the upfront monies, he was here in a blink. Note added in the contract that the job has to be done within two months. Do not pay him a cent until the product (roof tiles are delivered), or don't use JD construction because they tend to make up excuses and lies. He refunded me finally after I filed a claim on his GL insurance with Pascal Insurance. I learned many lessons, 1. Make sure your contractor is licensed through Tx roofers Association 2. Make sure he has a performance bond 3. Make sure he also has GL Ins and call and make sure it is active. 4. Add a timeline of completion. 5. Find a roofer like Good News Roofing from Angie List; you only have to pay them when they are done with the job. I think JD contracts lure people in by giving them an excellent low quote. Then you front him the money, and right there all your troubles start. You may wonder why he has some great reviews and so many stinking reviews. My thought is this. He may write several low quotes, some middle medium, and some high-end quotes. Then he leaves the people with low quotations on the back burner and only completes the jobs with higher profits. This way, he always has work lined up. And he keeps consumers hostage with his contracts and leaves them waiting for months at a time. So his business model leaves 1/3 of his clients furious at all times. One-third are barely satisfied, and 1/3 are happy. Well, it is just too bad for you if you are on his low-end client list - because then you will wait for months. He promised many times to refund me, and then he would not show. Be warned... Do not use his services.

My experience with JD Construction has been disappointing and shockingly negative. I have experienced poor workmanship, hostile interactions with the company owner, dishonesty, and severe lack of communication.

Over a month after contacting James to fix a very poor paint job from his team, I'm still unable to get anyone to professionally fix the issue.

Please work with a reputable contractor without the numerous terrible reviews online. We decided to work with JD Construction because they quoted us a lower price and we got what we paid for - cheap service and quality.

Working with James Daye has been a frustrating, time-consuming, and unprofessional experience. Beginning with him commenting on our age and stature during our first interaction, to him recently insinuating that we lied about work that was completed incorrectly by his team, we have regretted our decision to work with James Daye opposed to a more reputable and professional contractor.

James verbally abused me (a young woman) over the phone after I requested that he not wait until the morning-of to tell us that the work on our house would be delayed. After eventually admitting that it was unprofessional to speak to paying client in that way, James had his team complete the painting in our entire house.

However, a few weeks later, we noticed that the paint was significantly peeling, chipping, and scuffing with little contact. We then came to the conclusion that his team used the completely wrong paint even though we asked James multiple times if he was clear on the paint that we agreed upon. Ultimately, his team was still unable to complete the work as requested.
We contacted James on February 24th to begin the process of having his team correct their mistake with the wrong paint that was applied throughout our entire house. He initially insinuated that we were lying and insisted on seeing the paint himself. Even after personally seeing the mistake he and his team made, as of March 17th, James has still not remediated the poor workmanship. He is now refusing to respond to texts and calls. It's also worth noting that James has poor time-management and has made us wait for him for over one hour, or completely canceled our meetings, on more than one occasion. After scheduling a meeting with him as per his request, he almost didn't show up after being an hour late and telling us that he was too ""tired.""

Overall, our experience with James has been completely unprofessional. We have little faith he will remediate the issues caused by his team based on the numerous online review that corroborate our experience. We would have happily paid double the price to get our house painted if it meant never having been in contact with James and JD construction.

Listen to the other bad reviews about the company not returning the deposit. A very similar experience has happen to me. I hired JD Construction to do paint, tile work, siding and install a front door. We tried for months to try to get him to come to our house and finish the work. (he would schedule a date and then no call and no show) After numerous stern conversations with the owner, James Daye, about his lack of showing up to preform the work when he said they would, we finally got them to come and install the tile. The work was installed improperly and looks awful. Not only was the tile work terrible, they left trash in the middle of the yard. James came to collect his payment. We brought up our concerns and were promised the trash would be picked up and the tile would be fixed. On that promise, I foolishly paid him. So when the day arrived to fix this work and begin other projects we contracted with him, guess what - no call and no show again. So we terminated our contract and requested the deposit be returned for the remainder. This was on November of 2020. Needless to say it had been 4 months and I still have trash in my yard, awful tile and no deposit returned. We have made several attempts to work with James to get our deposit returned and every time there was an excuse to why he promised and yet failed to return it.

The way that this company does business is horrible. It's one thing to be an understanding individual, but to completely take money from someone and NEVER even begin work, spend the deposit, and then take a threat of legal action just to get the full balance of the deposit back over 2-1/2 months after first providing it is just bad business. Not only was the start date for my remodel pushed back week after week, but after finally agreeing to go elsewhere, the owner, James Daye, took over 6 weeks to pay back my full deposit after putting me off week after week. DO NOT do business with these guys unless they've started the work and have a full agreed upon timeline along with discounting if they are not done by the completion date. They'll spend your deposit before even starting work if you're not careful. You've been warned.

Do NOT hire this man. He took my money on June 2, 2020 and for the next 7 weeks did NOTHING. I called or texted him every week. It was always 'next week', or ""a couple days"". or on Monday, June 13 he said, ""be there Wednesday"", never showed up or called.
I got my money back today (July 22). His crew had previously done some good work for us so I hired him to finish the painting on our house. When he handed me my money back, he said, ""what did I do?"". They don't come any dumber than that.
