Came in to see some roof samples because internet photos aren't very reliable and if I'm spending a great deal of money on something, I'd like to make sure I am getting exactly what I want.

I forget the gentleman's name that helped me but he was very knowledgeable and patient with all of the questions I had. As a female, I really appreciate good customer service especially when it comes to house related/construction stuff.

Great group of guys, they even give you great advice based on their experience, I will definitely purchase all roofing materials at JB in the future, went in on 1st day, paid for the order, will call had my order ready by 7 am the next day, no games no gimmicks!

Be leery of this company and their relationships with contractors. They will supply materials to shady contractors and then put a lien on your property when the contractor fails to pay them. In my opinion this is a method to their business model. They should know contractors they deal with and I suspect they do then threaten you with a lien on your property.

Absolutely LOVE this place!!!!! The guys are super helpful and willing to make sure I'm doing my job right. I have a small project and they took the time to make sure I had the right stuff. Surprised at the odd reviews.

A) They are a supplier, they are not an installer. I've used this business a number of times. I have found them to be my favorite supplier.

B) 15% restock is standard for the industry. In fact, sometimes suppliers will only accept materials back on consignment. There are reasons for it that I won't get into, but suffice it to say someone was whining about something STANDARD in this industry.

Anyhow, I have used them many times. They are consistent, fair, responsive and know what they are doing which I appreciate.

Since this is a public forum where comments are censored, here are inadequate but socially acceptable adjectives regarding the employee Edward: Disinterested, Rude, Aggressive, Unhelpful, Dismissive, Sociopathic and Haughty (no clue why). Instead of fishing, maybe Keith should stick around his shop and observe how his employees treat customers and DO something about it. To be honest, we only dealt with Edward (twice - we gave him a second chance to be a human being - he failed both times), but we are not interested in giving the other employees a chance to flip us off, too. There are hundreds of other local roof suppliers that treat clients with respect - go to them (I'll post some on this site). And, not that JB or Edward care, but they lost 8 properties' worth of roofing business. Back atcha, Edward! (Clarification: NO STARS).

FYI. Be sure what you buy from them is what you need as they charge a restocking fee of 15% is something is returned.

In my case it was 15% of $660.00 to return unopened deck coating. Seemed excessive to me and there are other options.

Lastly, piss poor customer service to boot.

Terrible! I called the Ventura office for a quote on materials to re-roof my house. I took the time to give a detailed list of what I needed, while the man I was speaking to just wanted to rush me off the phone. He said that he would call back with a quote, but NEVER DID! Thanks for wasting my time.

My next call was to Rick at Allied Building Supply. He had a quote in my email inbox in less than 10 minutes, and was very helpful and excellent to deal with.
