Recommended Customer Reviews

The gutters in my three story house were plugged and water had flowed back into the eves and caused water damage.
Jason Sutter was referred to me by a contractor friend of mine. This contractor friend has referred me to a few other excellent specialists (i.e. plumbers) so I figured this would be the same.
Jason seemed like a nice guy and was very friendly. When I met him at the house to show him what I wanted, he said it would be a simple fix. He then went around the house and found a few other areas that he felt needed some work. He did not give me a bid for any of the work, but just said the cost would be determined by ""time and material.""
We made a verbal agreement that he would fix the eves, as well as a few other things that he found around the house and I would pay him whatever ""time and material"" cost.
As his crew performed the work, they kept finding a few small, other things that they felt really should be fixed. The house is quite old, so I wasn't surprised to find that there were additional problems. This went on for a few days and Jason was very good about keeping me in the loop as to what he kept finding and getting my approval before moving forward.
Once we were about $7000 into the job, he informed me that the eves could not be fixed as he had originally thought, and that I needed to reroof the entire house to fix the eves. He said that would be about another $50,000 - $60,000 plus ""time and material"" for whatever else they might find. That estimate seemed a bit high, even for a three story house with a roof with lots of angles.
In addition to the extremely high estimate, I felt like I had been misled about the eves. They were the one thing I had asked him to fix and they were still untouched. So I paid him for the good work that he had done and sought the services of another roofer. I got an estimate from another roofer to reroof the house for $20,000 ($40,000 plus ""time and material"" cheaper!!!).
Jason does very high quality work, but charges too much for what it is. If you go with Jason, make sure you get a few other bids to compare, and ask him why he costs so much more.

We got 4 bids on our roof for full tear-off. Jason Sutter roofing's bid was 10K higher and more than double the other bid for the roof+tear-off. His gutter estimate was 2K higher, and more than double what a gutter company big us. Ridiculous rip-off which is why we did not use him.
