The overall quality of the roof that was installed on our house is great (as far as I can tell as a non-roofer). The workers who came to our home were friendly, they cleaned up after themselves and the foreman was wonderful.

There was a complete lack of communication on the administrative side of things. I had to call numerous times to get a response once we sent in our deposit. There was no communication about the start date of our project and there was no communication (as promised by the sales rep) between our solar company and the roofing company. I was forced to become the go between and not being either a solar contractor or roofer made for many difficult conversations. Once the roof was ""complete"" in June, 3 months later in October we were contacted to finish the job and pain the metal trim that was placed on the roof.
Based on the lack of communication and the difficult communication throughout this entire process I cannot recommend Howard and Sons Roofing.

The company came out and gave me an estimate for roof repair. When I made a decision and wanted to hire them, and asked to speak to office manager Amanda regarding my project - I began getting ignored/stonewalled. I called at least 5 times within 2 weeks period, only each time being told Amanda is not available under different excuse, such as being in a meeting. I left Yelp messages, asking her to contact me back. On at least 3 occasions the people from their office on the other side of the phone promised me she'll contact me back either ""today"", or ""as soon as she's out of the meeting"", etc. Each time it turned out to be a lie. Finally, after a couple of weeks of chasing after their office manager to no avail, I had a lengthy conversation with Susannah, explained to her for how long I've been chasing Amanda with no success, told her this would be my last contact attempt and I'll be moving on if I don't hear back this time as well. I was assured ""my frustrations are understood"", and I'd hear back from Amanda ""shortly"" or something like that. Of course, that was another lie - no attempt to contact me by Amanda ever took place, going on 3 weeks and counting, since I wanted to hire them, and started reaching out....

It's just weird. If somebody doesn't want your business then why take their employee's time to come out, give an estimate and express interest in the project? If somebody doesn't want your business then why not just say so, and keep wasting each other's time by promising to contact me back and giving the impression you're interested in the job? I've never seen anything like this...Anyway, I'll be moving on with other quotes/companies that I've got, but I'd recommend people to stay away from this business. I'm not familiar with their quality of work, because I was never given a chance, but trust me - you do NOT want this type of customer service!

UPDATE 8/7/2023: This update is a response to the reply below from the business. There was no ""miscommunication"". Amanda is lying when she's saying ""we did reach out to you"" - her call, and Cesar's call both came almost a week AFTER this review was published, and more than a month after my failed attempts to speak to her about the project, when she was refusing to either take or return my calls for over 3 weeks. Cesar's call was never needed or requested by me, and I made that abundantly clear to their office staff, during numerous attempts to reach specifically her.

I find Amanda's lack of accountability, her refusal to own up to her own mistake, and trying to whizzle her way out publicly by lying in her response about calling me to be completely repulsive. If I still had any doubts about ever doing business with this company - they are gone now. When she called me *A WEEK AFTER THIS REVIEW WAS PUBLISHED"" she did admit on the phone to never taking or returning my calls, even though she acknowledged she was informed multiple times I was looking for her. Amanda failed to come up with with any legitimate excuse for stonewalling me, and only said she ""was very busy"" (for 3+ weeks mind you, to make a single phone call, even though their office staff had told me she makes calls to customers every day) and that she ""thought she was doing me a favor by letting others handle my calls, because she thought they could provide me the information I needed"".

I went through the whole process of signing up to install a new roof with Ignacio Cesar Peinado. He was not detail oriented in writing up the scope of work and many things we needed were not in the proposal. When we finally got everything together and were ready to sign a contract, Cesar pulled out saying he got a bigger commercial job elsewhere. He wasted our time and energy and delayed our roofing project.

Miguel was awesome! Was very clear with me what needed to happen to fix my roof. He outlined everything and kept me up to speed the entire time. He was kind and courteous and so was his entire team. Will definitely be going through Howard & Sons again in the future. All the other roofing companies that got back to me was saying I needed an entire roof before even hearing what my problem was. Howard & Sons was able to do the repair and save me thousands.

THE INSPECTION!
It went great! Cesar came out and walked the roof with me. He explained a lot! The best part was his integrity. He told me I would need a new roof - in 3 years and to start saving! He also showed me a few quick fixes to prevent water ingress in some weak areas of the roof.

LONG STORY SHORT
Give these folks a call. There's a reason the reviews are so overwhelmingly positive. I will be saving and definitely be calling the fine folks at Howard & Sons when the time comes for a new roof.

5 star experience from start to finish. I called multiple roofing companies to schedule a consult when I found one of my roof tiles on the ground and my drip guards hanging from the side of my house. I didn't know what, if anything, was wrong with my house and needed a pro to come take a look. Multiple other roofing companies either ghosted me or told me they couldn't come out until next year for a consult. Howard and Sons scheduled me for a consult the very next week.

Cesar came to my house and was an absolute professional. It turns out my roof was perfectly okay but he was understanding and explained everything to me thoroughly. Some people would be frustrated at me for wasting their time, but Cesar was a saint. I'm hopeful that my roof will last for many more years but when it finally does need repair or replacing, I will happily give my business to Howard & Sons.

Didn't think a review from 2018 would be relevant but I was wrong.
We had a leak in our concrete tile roof and we also have solar panels so pinpointing the spot might have been tricky. After getting 3 estimates from local roofers, Howard's and Sons was our hands down choice.

Cesar was the only one who actually got up on the roof, took a close look and was able to locate the spot needing repair. Instead of having to pay over $25,000 to replace the entire roof (as suggested by both other estimates), Miguel and his team were able to make the needed repair for way less. They even added new black paper in a much wider area than just where the leak was and completed all the work in half a day.

Let me start by saying that these guys are amazing!!! From start to finish Ceasar, Miguel and his crew were on top of their game!!! The foreman Miguel put all my worries at ease with his constant communication and thorough explanation step by step of the process. He goes above and beyond to make sure that every detail is correct and to your satisfaction. I only have high praise for these guys and I highly recommend them for your project!!! Thanks guys!!!
