Don (owner) and his team has done two roofs for me over the years with the most recent being this year. I highly recommend his work and professionalism. He really knows the business well and will work closely with you and not treat you like a number. If something isn't quite right he will make sure to make it so. He takes pride in both his company and his work and teams. I don't often write reviews but wanted to share one for Don S. And Home Team Roofing.

The experience of the owner is only gained through many years in the roofing business. His Crews know exactly what to do and they clean up well. The whole process is very easy with the home team at your side.

This company is complete trash - classic storm chasers who try to maximize profit by skimping on the job. Here is their strategy in a nutshell:

1) Wait for a storm to hit an area and then start knocking on doors to offer roof replacements with generous discounts

2) Pad their invoice to the insurance company to maximize your insurance payout

3) ""Make it easy for you"" by handling the insurance checks (meaning, try to take all of the money by having you sign the checks over to them). They like to do in-person visits and phone calls so nothing is on the record (for example, through email).

4) Put on shingles, but skip some of the more detailed items (and still plan on charging you for it). If you spot them skimping on items (which I did, starting with drip edge) they chalk it up to an ""oversight"" and offer to complete it (free of charge!) so that it matches what they've already told the insurance company they've done. Let's just say there were quite a few ""oversights"" on my roof, way too many to happen by coincidence.

It bothers me so much that companies out there exist, taking advantage of homeowners who don't know anything about roofing. It is easy to believe the job is ""complete"" simply because there are shiny new shingles on top. Drip edge, exhaust caps, and chimney flashing can easily add a few hundred dollars to their invoice and are things that most homeowners won't be looking at.

Luckily, we caught them trying to do this about halfway through the process, so I insisted that they give me an itemized receipt in the total bill. This left them in a predicament, since they already told my insurance company they had done another set of line items. It was a nightmare experience, to the point where they were weaving around basic questions from me, such as ""why do you think I should be paying for work not completed?"" And this was not an isolated employee, I had the owner threatening me as well - at which point I just paid them off to be done with it.

There are plenty of other honest roofers out there, so don't bother with them. To be clear, unless you are willing to check their work every step of the way it will not be obvious that any of this has happened to you.

Response to HTR comment:

There is a reason I did not post my name. I used to live in Los Angeles but now live in Dallas, so you are not chasing storms across state lines. I'm sure Dan and Don remember me because when I tried to rectify the situation, as you suggested, Don was threatening to come tear parts of my roof apart. This was because I had told them I would only pay for work completed, but since Dan had already sent a padded invoice to my insurance company he was either a) in a legal bind or b) too greedy to let the insurance check go elsewhere. I've talked to other neighbors in the area, and I'm certain the same trick has been played on them. Luckily this whole ""discount to not pay the deductible"" scam has been officially made illegal in Texas, but based on my experience I'm sure they'll try to keep at it. Long story short: when a customer finds that you have skimped on a lot of items in the invoice, getting defensive is a telltale sign that something is up, rather than the usual route of apologizing and correcting it.

They did a great job! I worked with Bret and he was patient and so easy to get a hold of as my schedule was very crazy, he worked with me every step of the way. He followed up after the guys head finished to make sure that everything was clean and all the nails were picked up out of my yard for the safety of my dogs.

In 2012 my roof got damaged and I got it repaired but the contractor never informed the insurance company that they repaired my roof. Since it was not the entire roof I was getting denied everytime I would need repairs done to my roof so it cam eto a point where I was ready to do it on my tab. Dan from Home Roof came and helped me resolve my situation. Everthing he said he delivered and I strongly recoomend working with them. Oh, I also have solar panels, no one wanted to work due to solar panels but again Dan managed to get people to remove and replace them once my roof was redone. Thanks everyone and special thanks to Dan

I'm extremely pleased with Home Team Roofing. From the professional manner of Luis, our salesman and main contact, to the crews' politeness and hard work. Our house was for sale when the first hail storm hit. They made it a point to get the new roof on in a hurry. When the second hail storm hit after we accepted an offer for the house, they prioritized my second roof and completed the job one week before closing. It took a day and a half to tear off the old roof and finish the new roof. A special thanks to Don for helping us out. My neighbors had a different roofer and they are still working on it four days after they started. It's half finished. Great job Home Team Roofing.
