Had a fifty year metal roof installed about 20 years ago. A couple of weeks after it was installed someone came out to inspect it with out calling first. They rang the door bell and since my wife was expecting no one she did not answer. They than climbed on to the roof when my wife heard that she went out side and told them she would shoot them if they did not get off the roof. It should be noted we do not even have a gun. After that we were getting leaks by the roof jack, they said they would not come out because of my wife, I called and told them it was their fault for not calling, they made an appointment and semi fixed it, it still leaked a little. The second time we had a problem a wind surge lifted the metal up at the corner of the house as it was not secured properly. Called again once again told they would not come out, but I finally convinced them to make an appointment and they came out. The repairman said the bottom row were not secured properly. So they came out twice after they said they would not come out and made half ass repairs. I say half ass as now where the wind lifted the metal from the corner to about 25 feet along the front it is leaking and the under lament is rotted. I have had two other roofers come out and they have verified the job was not the best, plus where all my vent pipes are they never installed vent boots, which was probably the cause of the leaking. At any rate with 30 years left on the warranty I suggested they reimburse me 55-60 % of the initial cost of the roof. They refuse to talk to me. Not a good company if they don't stand behind their work, I would suggest no one use them.

The job was clearly bid, contract was precise and contained what would be done, a clear time line was given and communication was top notch. I received text messages from the job foremen, email from the office manager and phone calls all along the way. I feel as if the job was done in an exceptional manner. I know there are complaints in a couple very old reviews but it looks like those were the old exposed fastener system and not the newer standing rib/lock system. Time will tell but I am very happy with the roof so far.

That's a load of crap. You haven't made multiple attempts to ""get it right"". And I don't think you would even know how or you would have done the installation correct the first time! So many issues with this roof.

Beware of using Hickman Metal Roofing and their partner Metal Sales. We are 14 years into a 30 year warranty and have terrible pitting around the screws, corrosion around the ridge caps and fading of the color. We have tried for more than six months to get some kind of repair or prorated replacement (not asking for a new roof) and representatives from both companies continue to pass the buck and point fingers at the other. Don Hickman even stated in an email to us, ""Keep in mind I have no legal right to even initiate the warranty claim but choose to help when I can."" Well, he has been of NO help. When we replace our roof (well before the 30 years we anticipated when we paid $11,000), we will steer far from this company.

This is the third time I've selected Hickman Metal Roofing. We needed to replace an old roof on an historic house that had a mix of asphalt and asbestos shingles. We were helped with color selection, materials choices and a few upgrades. The bid was fairly priced when compared to two other contractors we considered. The best part was the crew showed up on time, stuck with the job until it was completely done, and then left everything thing clean and neat behind them. Hickman handled all of the permiting and the asbestos removal subcontractor. The new roof is beautiful, energy efficient and will be the last one we put on this house. We are completely satisfied.
