Harris Home Exteriors replaced our siding with HardiePlank, replaced the screens and frame of our patio, and installed a new sliding glass door. We are very pleased with the high quality work for a decent price. Dan and Debbie are lovely people and very helpful and respond quickly to texts or emails.
Their employees were very professional and did a great job. I was pleased with how they cleaned up every night before leaving, sweeping the driveway etc.

The contractor inspected my home for a siding replacement project. The contractor estimated the area by claiming to count the existing 12"" on center siding panels. He did not use any thing else to measure, no tape, no laser.

While he quoted the price per sq ft he estimated the area at 1200 sq ft when it is actually a measured 900 sq ft with windowed areas. I have exactly 145 sq ft of window area on the side of the home he was quoting.

All in all I have 755 sq ft of area that needs siding and NOT the 1200 sq ft he was quoting on.

Always do the measurements yourself and compare. Also window area should always be excluded from siding project estimates when lap siding is used. Never pay more than 10% in estimated waste.

Work was done cheaply and when called out Dan Harris to see the shoddy workmanship , he told me he'd send someone out to fix it. Nobody ever came and he just ignored my successive calls.

If you do a job, do it right. If you say you'll come fix it, stick to your word. At least respond to my calls, Dan.

Dan has done several large jobs for us in the past several years. He installed new windows and siding on our weekend home in south Austin including a very unique outdoor shower made from old plantation shutters. Awesome workmanship, completed on time and on budget.

He was also gracious enough to bring his crew all the way to Midland, Texas to Install siding on our new home and 50x100 hobby shop for my cars. Dan personally made several trips out to supervise the difficult parts and on a whim, had his guys build us a laundry room/bath room in the shop. I would absolutely recommend Dan and if we need any work, I always contact Dan first.

Harris Home Exteriors installed my vinyl siding with insulation on my home a couple of years ago. Craftsmanship was excellent. I also needed to repair water damage on the wood structure of the patio. He figured out the way to fix it without using the expensive replacement lumber and he decided not to charge a dime for that work. This summer I called Dan to give me an estimate to fix a couple of places (I believe it's called fascia board). He came out, looked at them, and said ""these are easy fixes and do them no charge"". I really appreciated the way he went about doing his work to service his customer, even for repair work a couple of years later after initial installation.

10 years ago Dan Harris & his crew built me a beautiful covered deck with bull-wire instead of pickets. It's over-built (to last) with 4x6 posts and 2x12 railings all around (plenty wide to hold a beer and a plate of BBQ) + a galvanized metal roof. All with a dark cedar mountain stain, it rocks and still does today - 10 years later.

2 years ago Dan & crew installed a patio cover which matches the deck cover from a decade ago. Priced well, finished on-schedule and it also rocks.

Last year, Dan & crew installed vinyl, double-hung windows -- 16 of them + a new back door to the now covered patio. Again, priced well, finished on-schedule and he wouldn't take complete payment until the job was done. My experience is far different than this other reviewer (Stu D.). We had Dan do all our windows outside doors and siding. The results were less than we expected and Dan wasn't following up so we eventually gave up after already paying.

First he installed windows which weren't the ones we picked, saying that the ones he ordered were basically the same thing. After calling the mfg myself, it turns out he got us some very similar cheaper ones w thinner glass and thus a lower insulation level. Plus they looked more clunky. His crew didnt spray foam in the gaps like i asked em to, further reducing their insulation value. Same thing around the doors; theres a huge gap between the door n the wall in the garage door, allowing carbon monoxide in. :(

Also w the siding, he used cheapo junky caulk which cracked and pulled away, allowing mold and bugs in. Same w tue windows; the caulk shrank and pulled away. I'm just wondering when the rain is going to begin poring in.

Beyond that, he never finished: he still owes us several screens for the windows he installed. Every time we called he said they were ""ordered and on the way""... BS.

His crew is super nice and so is Dan. But you gotta keep a close eye on them and maybe threaten em w a cattle prod or something so they dont cut corners n halfass everything like they did my house.

Definitely withhold your big payment until all your details are addressed because sweet ol Dan's not a stranger to taking your money n running.
